Why do only the dumbest people come to check in on night audit
Sir, throwing a tantrum in our breakfast buffet because we don't serve grits is unbecoming of you. Refusing to hear about the breakfast-only restaurant less than a block away, because, "My money is here, I want my grits here!" is worse. You didn't bring any or request it at any point in advance, so I've no idea why you're so put out.
Oh, and please don't complain that we just walked away from you, either. It's the standard advice for handling a toddler throwing a fit.
Stuck in Los Angeles surrounded by the best food that I can’t eat…. not sure why I enjoy torture.
masks
So the state that I’m in has made masks mandatory in all public places and my hotel isn’t any different- if you don’t have a mask, and if it’s not up all the way over your nose, you don’t get service. If you don’t have one, we can provide one for you for free. Most people are adults about it and while they may not want to wear it, they do it anyways because, ya know, they have to. Others, however, turn into big toddlers about it. They scream and throw fits and I just don’t understand why they feel the need to act like this. I don’t care if you’re on vacation, there are people who live here and have families here and they don’t deserve to get sick and possibly die because you don’t want to wear a mask for a few minutes.
The other night I had a woman come in with her mask under her chin and when I politely asked her to pull it up, she screamed at me, “I HAVE A HEALTH CONDITION WHICH MAKES IT HARD FOR ME TO BREATHE.” Now, my thing is, if your health is so poor that you can’t wear a mask, you shouldn’t be in public at all to begin with. Just because things are opening back up, doesn’t mean that everything is back to normal; we STILL have a pandemic going on and I absolutely cannot STAND people who pretend to be sick just so they can try and get out of wearing a mask. I looked at her, made my eyes go big in fake shock and yelled, “MA’AM, YOU CAN’T BREATHE? OMG LET ME CALL THE PARAMEDICS FOR YOU HOLD ON” and picked up the phone to call the EMTs (my hotel has them on site 24 hours a day). She then freaked out and said “NO NO NO IT’S OKAY I’M FINE I DON’T NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION” and pulled her mask up. Me: Oh, I thought you couldn’t breathe? Her: No, I’m fine, I’m okay right now. Me: Oh, okay, that’s good. Well I can always call the paramedics if you can’t breathe okay? Now, what can I get started for you today” :)
if i ask you for a card for incidentals and your response is "i won't charge anything to the room or wreck the room, so i don't want to do that" my response to you is "tough luck."
for people who make late night reservations at a hotel. Here’s some info you might need.
Making a reservation for the 27th at 3am doesn’t guarantee a room for you at 3am. People from the 26th are still there, and possibly sleeping, and definitely haven’t checked out.
So when I tell you, “I’m sorry, we are sold out.” and “I can’t check you in right now.” Getting mad at me is still not going to get you that room.
Check in starts at 3pm for a reason.
That awkward moment when you're in a hotel with thin walls and can hear the neighbors headboard banging against the wall
