(Full Disclosure: I did finally end up taking one of their fares, but only once I tricked it by looking up the flight in a Travelocity search; only then did it not update from the $2265 it advertised in the results page, and only after the chat included below ended)

{Jerome} it seems fishy to me, and I'm wondering what's going on

{Dar} I see. That's how our rates changes due to to our customers booking online. All our rates are based on availability so it can go up or down every time you check. Sometimes, while even in the process of booking a reservation the rates could change.

{Jerome} when my wife first looked at these flights on 5 Jun, the price she was quoted at the time was 1912. Since I was trying it a good 10 days later, I was fine with it rising by 100 dollars, that seemed consistent

{Jerome} but for it to go up two times, by more than 500 dollars in the timespan of fewer than 5 minutes for those specific flights stretches credibility

{Dar} There again our rates are depending on the availability of the flight. If the rates increases fast, meaning to say plenty of passengers are booking.

{Jerome} the odds are astronomical against that possibility for every single one of these flights

{Jerome} I understand that as well, but then explain how, if I let the results page stay for even 5 minutes, then refresh it, I get the same fares displayed

{Dar} You may check the site maybe after several minutes, Our Airline Partners are currently updating the rates that's why it keeps on changing.

{Jerome} but when I then go to select one of those fares, it gives me the "updating" icon, and when it gets to the actual itinerary, it informs me that the prices have "just" went up.

{Jerome} that's what I'm saying though. if I do nothing, the prices don't chang

{Jerome} it's when I actually commit, and they think they have me, the give the impression of, "oh, this flight is so popular, it just went up, you should take this new fare right now so it doesn't go higher."

{Jerome} then, when I back out to try a now-lower fare, it gives me the same message

{Jerome} so when I back out once again, and go to the original itinerary, the price has now jumped yet again

{Jerome} is there a travel axiom of which I'm not aware that says, buy your tickets two months out?

Booked a flight through Hotwire.com for tomorrow from San Diego to Phoenix

and the website booked my flight for November 12th. Fuck this, fuck Hotwire, fuck everyone. I need to be in fucking Phoenix tomorrow at 9am, or I lose my job.

And this bitch at Hotwire refuses to help me in any way. "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do." When I ask to speak to a superviser, her response is "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do." When I ask if she can actually do ANYTHING, her response is "I'm sorry, Ma'am, but there's nothing that I can do to help you." So... what the fuck is the purpose of this bullshit 24 hour helpline? On top of her apparent lack of ability to actually accomplish ANYTHING, she refuses to transfer me to a superior. At this point, I'd rather talk to a fucking plant.

I swear to God, if I have to spend more fucking money on this bullshit I'm going to lose my mind. It's just one fucking thing on top of another on top of another.

I'm fucking done.
