11 and 12 for the book ask!

11. What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?

If we’re talking a LONG while, I read "Plum Bun: A Novel Without a Moral" by Jessie Redmon Faust (published 1928) this year and really liked it. Kind of a "Passing" type story about a woman passing for white in New York while her sister is involved with the Black community there.

Slightly less long while, I read "The Plotters" by Un-Su Kim (published 2010) which is a kind of oddball thriller about an assassin joining forces with three women who tried to kill him to take down his own bosses. If you saw "Gunpowder Milkshake" this year it was actually weirdly similar.

12. Any books that disappointed you?

Oh, too many. "Hench" by Natalie Zina Walschots was probably my biggest letdown. So many people I follow liked it! It was nominated for an award! And it was just. It was just so muddled and bad.

I understand your struggle so many ttrpg but no real energy to teach people how to play them

right?? the only real reason i know motw (and loosely by extension all ptba games) is bc i listened to 30 something episodes of taz: amnesty and the stolen century arc but like that’s what 60 hours of content over a couple of months? obvs you don’t need to deep dive that much but damn idk if i have the patience to teach people outside of my like.............................actual teaching job LKFNWEJKDE

theres been a lot of times over the last few months where I've just had to not look at tumblr or twitter bc I was already so anxious with every that any dumb shit I saw that would normally get me mildly annoyed was getting me super worked up. I've kind of basically learned to just try and gauge myself before trying to interact with it. And if I find it too stressful I'd turn it off, and try and do something I didnt assosiate with what was getting me all worked up.

that’s such a good method of dealing with it. it’s something i really do need to do more often. i’ve just finished eating something so i’ll go shower and then distract myself with something else for a bit i think
