Would You Fuck This Furry?
Squeak from Housepets! (webcomic)
Yes
No
See Results
Squeak is a mouse who lives in a doghouse alongside her boyfriend Joey, a dog she met while he was roleplaying while wearing a catsuit. Long story...
Anyway, Squeak likes anime and seeing movies with her partner, and also seems to have a thing for feet, going out of her way to get herself stepped on and even asking other critters to step on her harder. Yep, this mouse is small (though tall for a mouse!) but feisty!

There is no nuance button, if your answer is some variation of ‘I would if X’ then the answer is yes.

Propaganda:
"Positive you had done this one but couldn't find in the archives. the peak of furry comic to me; so many genres, themes, and plotlines covered in its long length, from romcom to urban fantasy to superhero comic, and always keeping a flavor of humor and optimism I love it for."

03- Cat Tail
Now here we are, establishing one of Housepets!'s longest running themes: queerness.
There's a lot of ink to be spilt about this. Much has been. Housepets! was a comic run for years by a guy who kind of had a reputation as a sexually repressed Evangelical. But right now Peanut's ... interspecies fetish... god, I hate calling it that. I hate that that's an accurate description of what this is supposed to be, god. His cat thing is obviously a metaphor for being a furry in a place where it's not easily accepted. He has no interest in repressing it, because it's a fairly innocent interest really, but he's still embarrased by it. His friends shun him, and the only other person who's also into it is Joey, who's really weird about it.
Very relatable experience, especially for this comic's specific audience.
This is a memory so it might not reflect the whole but when I was really IN this webcomic's fandom it was in a lot of ways not very tolerant of gay shipping. Lots of like, very low-key homophobia. Like you'd suggest that two male characters would be cute together and you'd get a lot of support but you'd also get plenty of people just going "ewww..." This is genuinely how it felt a lot of the time to think Peanut should kiss boys. It was either like the fucking weird homophobia that got accepted or like cub porn or whatever. And like I was 12 so obviously I wasn't hanging out with cub porn people. But like look at him. He should kiss boys. Look at him. How can you deny what's so obvious
There becomes problems later in this arc though. It's like...
Is this not vaguely transphobic. Like just a little. Right? It feels transphobic.
Like in keeping with the furry metaphor it's a joke about how when you're trying to be a furry and the only other furries you see are fucking weird and way too into it. Okay. Like it's obviously treated as harmless weirdness that Peanut is regardless not interested in. The question being - when you're engaging in a subculture with a weird reputation, do you necessarily have to become as weird as the reputation to fit in? No, of course not. You can and should engage to the exact degree to which you're comfortable.
It's just weird that they decided to portray the specific unappetizing weirdness in question as uh ... "Joey wants to be something he's not"
Bit odd, that
EXCEPT... IN A FUCKING RIGHT HOOK FROM NOWHERE...
Ok like. So obviously Grape isn't meant to be trans. It was 2008 and being written by a Christian dude from Alabama.
But like...
I don't even know how to explain this in a way that will convince anybody. If you're not convinced I'm not gonna convince you. But if you're a trans girl this is like, the perfect fantasy of coming out. No one has genitalia in this comic I'm pretty sure. Grape is a girl because she says so. Okay??? Cool!!!
So. Not sure how to feel
I will immediately find 20 million typos after posting this but anyway here's a Jaumaa ᵑgʷi translation of a Housepets Strip (Tis Better To Give)
