he was never one to shy away from others, but this situation felt different. the quiet, intimate quarters of the room. the aura of her compassionate presence. to another perhaps, she was a girl who gave the impression of a frail bird, & he held her safely within his hands.
no — that's not it.
to sting, she is a determined tiger. baring her teeth & all too ready to rejoin the hunt, despite her shortcomings. her ferocity shows beneath a shroud of distress, & he admires it.
her remark triggers a grin, muffling a chuckle into his curled fist. ❛ well . . . i'd offer to carry you there, but that might not be the fastest way. ❜ lacing his fingers together, sting leans back in the chair. his gaze falls away from hers to 'admire' the rather repulsive colored wallpaper. the flickering candles lights only made it appear more offensive to his eyes.
the rural inn emanates an quaint, yet eery charm, the outside village much too silent for comfort. they were only two of the few travelers that occupied the establishment. sting used this observation to his advantage. while he didn't disclose this to lisanna, he already prepared for unwelcome visitors in the night. a simple warding spell — deterring the potential arrival of a mysterious sorcerer. he was still a novice with this aspect of his powers, but it'll last through dawn.
he continues to ponder her question. motion sickness is an unfortunate side effect to his senses however, he found a few remedies to dull the symptoms during his travels. after all, he couldn't be bothered to walk everywhere.
he jests with a pouting frown, ❛ why so concerned ? — worried about how embarrassing it'll be if i do blow chunks in public ? can't say i blame you. ❜ amused, he looks to her again as a smile brightens his face — possibly the first, genuine smile he shared with her.
before he can say something else childish, he stands and rubs his eyes as if tired. ❛ nice try, though. motion sickness or not — nothing's gonna stop me from getting you some medical attention. ❜ he punctuates his optimistic promise with a point of his finger, before extinguishing the candles to further encourage that she sleeps. ❛ i'll be in the room across the hall. if you need me . . . ❜ he trails off, hand resting on the door handle, hesitant to leave.
he looks back to her, eyebrows furrowing as he senses her concern. ❛ — hey. it's gonna be fine. we'll get 'em. ❜ he felt the weight of her need to pursue the deviant. but it wasn't time yet. taking that sense of justice from her wasn't his right, & he understood that. soon. she's strong. a survivor. he knew that much. ❛ i'm not goin' anywhere. ❜ he bows his head to her before slipping through the door, uttering before he locks & shuts it, ❛ good night, lisanna. ❜
