Btw, I started following when you started your MMFR art (since you were the only one who made best Max x Furiosa art). Guess I'm slowly getting dragged into this as well.

What do you think of how they expanded on who Nate and Sam really are?

the fact that they were really Nathan and Samuel Morgan? I mean we always knew Drake wasn’t his real name (from the third game anyway) but it was nice to see it explained in a little more detail. 

The fact that they also left some things slightly up to interpretation worked pretty well too (the details of their mother’s illness, the role of their father etc). I really enjoyed the Brother’s Drake chapter, especially because they completely nailed the young versions of Nate and Sam, both visually, voice-wise and behavior wise.

The moment that sold me Troy Bakers performance was in the cutscene after the Italian job, Nate is outside the on the phone. Sam has a brief moment with Sully, asking why Sully is here, who then says someone has got to look out for Nate and the look that Sam gives is perfect

Pretty much. I think there were a bunch a moments like that that really sold me on Sam as a character, especially the ones that made it obvious that Sam has a lot of insecurity hidden away under all the bravado and snark. There’s a lot of inner turmoil going on with Sam and it comes out in these tiny subtle moments that are just... mhmm, so good. The facial animation is top notch this time around. So many tiny micro expressions that really capture what they’re thinking and feeling. Really good job Naughty Dog, you aced the performance capture.
