How it happens
Night before the last day.
Dean enters the library to find Cas sitting with his head in his hands.
Normally Cas would look up at someone coming in but not this time. Dean frowns concerned.
"Hey Cas. You Ok?"
Cas only lowers his hands but doesn't look Deans way. For the whole conversation Cas tries to avoid Deans eye.
"No Dean"
Dean is slightly taken aback by the honesty
He pulls the chair opposite out and sits down.
"Look. I know tomorrow everything could..."
"Don't"
"Cas"
"I know what your going to say. I don't want to hear it. Because what if..."
"What it What?"
"What if we don't win. What if.."
"Cas hey. That's possible I'm not going to lie now. But come on. We are throwing everything we got..."
"And what if that's not enough. I couldn't bear the thought of.. of.. And not... not telling you.."
"Telling me what cas."
"Telling you how much you mean to me."
"Pretty sure we've covered this one. Family man. Come on"
"No Dean. To me.. I mean yes you and Sam are my family. But with You, I want you to know.. I need you to know... you've always been more.. to me.. I.."
"Cas.."
"No. Let me finish. I need you to know... How much.. I.."
"Cas it's ok"
"Dean.. I.."
"I know. Cas. Me too."
Cas finally looks Dean in the eye and Dean smiles gently at him. Their hands reach out to one another across the table top and it cuts to black.
This would be enough.
