so i’ve been reading half-blood prince but my dumbass keeps forgetting there’s no romance between draco and harry like GIRL this is NOT a 6th year drarry fanfic😭😭🤦♀️

can someone hit me with an actual psychological analysis of tom riddle because! he DOES feel things!! he loves hogwarts, he likes (??) nagini, he gets embarrassed, angry, afraid, he hates things, etc., but dumbledore spends all of hbp droning about how he's an unfeeling monster Since Childhood and you should not, in fact, feel sorry for him as an abandoned baby (which is uhhhh a weird thing to say). i mean of course he's a terrible awful person but there's more to his personality than Evil McBadman with no feelings ever
I’m genuinely baffled by those who say that “Draco obviously didn’t feel bad or regret almost getting Katie and Ron killed, because he sounds so proud of himself when he’s talking to Dumbledore, he doesn’t sound sorry at all!”
Why on earth would Draco be honest and vulnerable with Dumbledore in that scene? Not only is Dumbledore his target who he’s supposed to kill, with his own family’s lives on the line - and he’s supposed to be the merciless Death Eater who has ruthlessly overpowered Dumbledore - but Draco has never once liked or trusted Dumbledore, nor has he been given many reasons to. The man has been screwing over Slytherin House for a while, after all - don’t forget that points humiliation at the end of book 1 - and Lucius has been badmouthing him for all of Draco’s life; Draco is not friendly with him like Harry is. The movie makes this quite clear with its original line, “how do YOU know what I am?” There’s no trust there.
Plus, Dumbledore admits that he knew the whole time what Draco was trying to do, which let’s be real, probably upsets Draco even more. The hesitant and scared part of him, in the heat of the moment, already regretting his rejection of Snape’s offers of help, would wonder why Dumbledore didn’t do something for all those months of stress and paranoia, and offer to help him sooner, instead of now when it’s too little, too late.
Anyone can interpret Draco as having no regrets about Katie and Ron, if they like - but him not admitting any regrets aloud to Dumbledore is NOT sufficient proof of that. At all.
