It’s a small, easy to forget but incredibly important detail that Draco befriended Moaning Myrtle.

Think about it. Draco Malfoy - Slytherin pureblood raised to be a blood supremacist Death Eater who threw the “Mudblood” slur around left and right as a child - grew so close with the ghost of a Muggle-born witch who was killed by his master that they exchanged all their secrets and she was his only true confidant in sixth year. He let her see a side of him that nobody else saw; he let her see that he is sensitive, and people bully him too, and he allowed himself to cry in front of her multiple times.

All of this is canon.

That unlikely friendship alone almost certainly contributed to his change in loyalties and loss of faith in Voldemort’s cause. Her being a ghost forced him to look past her blood status and - quite literally - see her soul. She helped open his eyes to how little a person’s blood status actually matters.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that JKR introduced this crucial, in many ways groundbreaking detail … and then totally brushed it off. A huge basis for a full redemption for Draco in Deathly Hallows was already established by this unlikely friendship, but of course, it went nowhere, because she just wouldn’t dwell on any positive plot point or character development for Draco that she herself came up with and put into canon.

The most interesting friendship dynamic for me in hp is fucking Draco and Myrtle because why does it make so much sense??? Like you never expect it to happen but when you find out about it you're like oooh it makes sense how they're friends. It's giving loser nerd & loser theater kid gossiping about the other loser students.. idk lol

Prompt 30 - Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom

Sirius couldn’t keep his hands off Remus. They both had a free day and were supposed to be going up to the dorm to take full advantage of the empty space. But it looked like they might not make it that far. 

Sirius spotted a bathroom not much further up the corridor. He pressed himself up against Remus and pressed their lips together, pushing into him until Remus stepped back through the door. 

“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!!!” A voice screamed at them. Sirius and Remus jumped apart as a ghost came rushing towards them, passing through them both and making them shudder. They were in Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom. 

“You took me into a girls' bathroom?!” Remus whacked him across the chest with the back of his hand. 

“Hey! I didn’t know. I thought we were on the third floor.” 

“GET OUT!!!!” Myrtle screamed at them before setting all the taps on and showering them in water. The floor began to flood, and they made a quick exit. 

“Sorry, Myrtle!” Sirius called over his shoulder, and the small ghost screamed, exploding the toilets and flooding the bathroom further as he and Remus hurried away. Sirius somehow managed to keep his hands to himself the whole way up to the dorm room and was rewarded for his good behaviour, but he’d make sure to check what room he dragged Remus into next time.

Does anyone else think it’s just a GROSS how JKR made Moaning Myrtle is a transphobic allegory for trans women in girls bathroom?

Obviously, you can tell that Moaning Myrtle is a ghost, something commonly said to be scary, which is a r deference to how trans women are scary to JKR.

And also a ghost is commonly said to not be real, which is a reference to how JKR thinks trans women identity’s aren’t real either.

And then most importantly, she’s invading the girls bathroom, she’s always in there, bothering girls in there and harassing them. Just like JKR thinks trans women do. She even SEXUALLY HARRASSES Harry Potter himself while he’s in the bath, aka JKR things trans woman are sexual harassing child’s.

That’s so hypocritical of her, considering she was just outed as personally invited Jeffrey Epstein. No, I was not able to read the file due to ADHD and executive disinfection, yes I saw it on Tumblr and it’s real. It’s just disgusting.

You can also tell how she’s calling a sexual name MOANING Myrtle, which is a refernence to the sexual sound of moaning, so it’s because JKR is saying trans women are sexual predators, who’s presents in girls bathroom are because of sexual reasoning.

Overall, wow, it’s so wrong and it’s just gross. Every character in the books has a secret purpose of pushing JKR transphobia or other bigotry.
