It wasn’t surprising. At least not to those who were around you. Alaric Wrenwood was the definition of heartbreaker, womanizer, and arsehole. Everyone knew it and everyone could see that he treated you like absolute shit. No one understood why you put up with his toxic behavior. Maybe it was because that was what you had witnessed growing up, so it seemed normal to you. Maybe it was simply because you believed that love should be like that. Everyone had flaws, but flaws weren’t an excuse for toxic behavior.
Theodore could tell every difference in you. It started simple. You were normal for the first four months of your relationship. Then came month five and your best friend noticed the little things. He first noticed when you were speaking with Pansy, Daphne, Astoria, and the rest of your friends. You bursted into a laugh at something before quickly lowering your voice and nervously glancing over at your boyfriend. That struck something in Theo that night but Mattheo had convinced him to let it go and that it was probably nothing.
By month nine, Theodore had noticed a big difference. You were quieter than normal, your laughs were fake, the way you smiled was fake and never reached your eyes. He noticed that you started wearing heavier makeup and making sure your hair was always neatly done. Not that you never cared about your appearance before but to Theodore it was almost like you were trying to change yourself completely. You weren’t using makeup to enhance your beauty anymore, you were trying to conceal your natural beauty and he knew it.
Theodore was ready to call you out on it and he had every intention too. That was until he turned the corner right into a fight between you and Alaric.
“I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t think it was wrong. I promise I’ll make it up to you.” Your sweet and soft voice promised trying to reach for his hand, only for him to push your arm away. That caused Theo to start fuming right then and there.
“Didn’t think it was wrong?” Alaric scoffed. “A girl like you shouldn’t be hanging out with a group of guys. It’s like you want people to know you’re a slut or something.” He snapped in a tone louder than you liked causing you to flinch back a bit.
“I’ve only been with you since we got together. You know that.” You crossed your arms now. “I’m usually always with Pansy or someone when I’m with the boys.”
Alaric rolled his eyes, the anger growing causing Theodore to take a step forward in the shadows. “What about Theodore? You’ve been alone with him plenty.”
“We’ve been friends for years, Alaric.” You replied starting to get uncomfortable with the arguments. “Theo’s been a constant in my life when nothing else has.”
Theodore couldn’t help but smile at that. A big part of that was because he was head-over-heels in love with you. He never would’ve abandoned you though, ever.
“It’s me or him.” Alaric spoke up quickly noticing how your face crumbled. That’s exactly what he wanted. He wanted you to hurt and to strip everything about your life apart. If only you had understood that earlier.
“What? No, you can’t make me choose!” You rejected shaking your head as you felt tears come to your eyes.
He stepped closer to you, gripping your arms a bit harsher than intended. “You know, I bet you’d love that little enchanted picture to get out wouldn’t you?” Your face paled and your breath hitched. “It’d really show your friends how much of a whore you are wouldn’t it?”
“I asked you to burn that.” You spoke steadily as tears finally fell. “You said you got rid of it.”
Your boyfriend shrugged, “I lied. I knew I could use it. So… me or your precious Theodore.?” He taunted slightly, “I’ll give you until breakfast tomorrow.”
Alaric gave you a dark smile as he backed away and eventually turned around to leave. That’s when you broke down and that was the first time Theodore was officially about to place the unforgivable curse on someone. He wanted to go comfort you. He really did, but he knew he had business to take care of.
Later that night, your boyfriend was walking through the dungeons after walking you to the common room. He kept the cocky smirk on his face as he tried to make his way back to the his common room. Key word, tried.
Before he could leave the dungeons his back was slammed against the wall. Hard. Alaric fought a wince before he noticed who was pushing him against the wall.
“What do you want, Nott?” Alaric hissed his eyes burning with anger noticing the pure-bloods cold demeanor.
Theo pushed against the Gryffindor’s body harder making sure to cause pain to the boy. “Where’s the picture.” He demanded his eyes burning with rage thinking about the argument he had heard earlier.
Your boyfriend let out a laugh at the Slytherin boys response. Of course he was watching over you earlier. How could he think your guard dog left you alone. “It’s pathetic that you watch her every move.” The Gryffindor taunted. “But why do you want the picture anyway? Why would you want to see the girl you’re in love with be a complete whore for someone else?”
“Give. Me. That. Damn. Picture.” Theo sneered his arm putting more intense pressure on his neck.
Wrenwood rolled his eyes, “what do you even see in her?” He asked with a cocky tone. “You have girls falling at your feet and you’re so caught up on someone that’s average at best.”
That remark done it. Theodore was seeing red and before he could think he threw his arm back and before swinging forward as hard as he could. He got two good punches in before he felt his arm get caught on the third one.
“He’s not worth it, mate.” The voice of Draco spoke up since he was the one to stop him from punching again.
Before Theodore could reply or catch his breathe your idiot of a boyfriend broke out into laughter. “Your so obsessed with someone who doesn’t even love you. On top of that, she’s not even a good lay, man. I’ve heard the rumors about you… she wouldn’t satisfy your needs.” He spoke with a dark tone. “She’ll never love you, Nott.” He teased angrily trying to make Theodore mad again. “and when I’m done with that slut, she’ll be broken anyway.”
Theodore jerked out of Draco’s grasp before pummeling Alaric to the ground and sent punch after punch. The Slytherin only stopped before the Gryffindor was unconscious. “If you’re so sure she’ll never love me… then why make her choose between me and you.” Theodore leaned down and taunted as he watched the Gryffindor try to sit up while pouring blood. Theo then reached into the injured ones robe pocket and pulled out the enchanted photo.
He made sure not to look at it. He didn’t want to know what it was, but he knew he wanted it gone. He took his wand, and in front of your boyfriend, did the spell that would get rid of it forever. “Next time you want to threaten my girl with a photo you took…. I’ll avada you.” The Slytherin sneered before kicking your boyfriend in the stomach and walking away.

Months had passed since your boyfriend had threaten you with the picture and surprisingly enough he didn’t make you choose. You had your suspicions as to why when he walked into breakfast the next morning with a bruised face and refused to look at you the whole day. But you would’ve been lying if you said it wasn’t a very peaceful day without him.
Fast forward to now you had officially been dating for 1 year and 6 months. Something that you were proud to say you worked through. Except everyone but you could tell you were mainly an emotional punching bag for him.
“Y/N,” a voice broke you out of your thoughts. You looked behind you to notice Hermione Granger walking up to you. It was strange for her to willingly talk to you unless it was about school, but you sent her a small smile anyway. “I just wanted to say that I’m sorry. What Wrenwood did to you was awful. No one deserves that.” She spoke sincerely with a look of sadness and pity in her eyes.
You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion, “what are you talking about?” You asked softly awaiting an explanation.
“I’m talking about Wrenwood and Nightbloom getting caught in the prefect bathroom…” Hermione trailed off softly. “Have you not heard?”
Your eyes widen slightly as you felt them become glassy. “I didn’t hear.” You mumbled as you swallowed the lump in your throat.
“I’m sorry.” Hermione mumbled before rushing away as if she had said something bad.
You were confused, hurt, angry, and overall anxious. Surely Hermione had just heard wrong. You knew the brightest witch your age wouldn’t gossip on purpose and she was very sincere in her apology. So you knew that you needed to find your boyfriend and talk to him.
*
You were determined to find him before the end of the day. And with your luck, you found him right outside of your next class which you just so happened to have with the Gryffindors. Once your eyes landed on his figure you made your way straight to him.
A smirk grew on his face once he locked eyes with you. Before he could say anything, “what the hell is everyone talking about?” You snapped. You were livid. Way beyond angry.
“What are you talking about?” He played off coolly, already getting the ‘you’re paranoid’ card ready.
“Do NOT play dumb with me.” You spat at him. It drew attention and everyone around was shocked that you were standing up to your toxic boyfriend. “Having sex with Lavinia NightBloom in the prefect bathroom. Really?”
Alaric’s eyes widen slightly not expecting you to yell that out in front of everyone. Even though almost every single Gryffindor knew and word had spread about to plenty of Slytherins and probably other houses too. “Baby, now listen. It was a mistake… a total moment of weakness.” He started trying to charm his way out of it but there was no way it was going to work. “Plus that was so yesterday… and the day before that. Let’s leave the past in the past, yeah? Focus on the future.” You scoffed and slapped his hand away as he went to grab you. “Come on, baby. What’d you want me to do? Say no and turn her down?”
“YES! That’s exactly what you’re suppose to do.” You huffed and took a step back from him. You were about to lose it and you knew once the anger was gone that the dam holding back the pain and tears would break.
He sighed and ran a hand over his face, “listen, I’m a man and I have needs. Some that you cannot fulfill. So instead of having me embarrass you in front of everyone… we let it slide.” He whispered causing a look of disgust to appear on your face.
“You cheat on me and expect me to let it go? Oh no! That’s not how that works.” You snap causing him to roll his eyes in his own dramatic way.
“Look, just forgive me. We’ll go back to normal and everything stays the same.”
“Nothing will be the same. I cant even trust you now!”
The crowded had slowly made their way inside the classroom that you two were fighting close too. Knowing that class was starting or had already started. “Listen,” Alaric mumbled darkly as he started pushing you back until he had you trapped between him and the wall. “You’re going to forgive me. I’ll play into your theatrics and act like I’m so very sorry and make everyone swoon. You’ll accept and nothing will change. I might have trained you to be a perfect little girlfriend but I need freakier in the sheets than what you have been.”
The uncomfortable and disgusted feeling came back as those words left his mouth. You felt like vomiting because of it. You quickly pushed him away before landing a hard slap on his face. Hard enough to startle him and turn his head to the side. “We’re over.” You snapped before trying to go around him but he grabbed you to stop you.
“I suggest you let her go.” The voice of Theodore Nott spoke up as his footsteps got closer and he stopped beside you. “If you don’t want a repeat of what happened 9 months ago, then let her go.”
Wrenwood’s hand let go of your arm before glaring at the Slytherin boy. “Your stalker coming to save the day.” He fake chuckled as his eyes darted between the two slytherins. “You’ve been screwing around haven’t you? Behind my back.” He sneered as he noticed the way you slightly (unintentionally) leaned closer to Theo for comfort.
Theodore sent him a sarcastic smile, one that held anger and annoyance. “Sucks to be you, doesn’t it?”
You rolled your eyes at his antics but replied to your ex-boyfriend anyways, “you know I’ve been loyal to you, but that’s over now.”
The Gryffindor boy laughed with a shake of his head, “you’ll come crawling back. No one will want a broken mess.” He taunted.
You stiffened knowing that you had many insecurities ever since becoming his girlfriend. You used to have a spark about you. The right amount of confidence, where you weren’t cocky or arrogant but weren’t insecure either. It was completely gone now. You had completely changed and honestly you didn’t know who you were anymore.
“You know I’m right.” He taunted one last time before walking around the pair to get to class.
You were frozen and that was even after he was gone. That feeling was coming back, the feeling of an anxiety attack. You’re hands were starting to shake, tears coming to your eyes as your breathing became harder and shortened. Your heart was racing and the anxiety made it feel like your throat was closing and you couldn’t breath.
“Hey, love.” Theo spoke softly. He was able to tell when they were happening and he seemed to always be your anchor. His warm hand had started rubbing your arm slowly to ground you. “Breathe with me.” He whispered calmly as he stood in front of you. He guided you through breathing exercises, all the while his dark warm eyes stayed locked on you. “That’s it.” He encouraged as he noticed your breathing calm down and your shaky breaths starting to be more consistent.
Once you were calmed down enough to be alone… you ran off. Not even telling your best friend anything or thanking him. You needed to be alone. You didn’t want the dam to break in the middle of Hogwarts. You didn’t want everyone to see the ‘broken mess’ you had become.
❤️🩹
Pansy was pissed when she had returned to your shared dorm and noticed you crying in bed. Not even crying, full on melting down. She had no ounce of judgment but she was worried about you. Yes, she knew that breakups were bad, especially toxic ones. However, she had never seen you the way you were now.
She knew you wouldn’t want to talk or go to dinner. You probably wouldn’t even eat but she was bringing you something anyway.
Your absence from dinner was noticed by Theodore the most. His eyes wandered trying to find you… to make sure you were okay. “You’re not going to find her.” Pansy spoke softly with her face full of worry. “She’s… not well.”
Theo felt his own heart break. He knew you wouldn’t be fine because of everything that happened, but he had hoped you’d be here so he could make it better. “I want to see her.”
Pansy shook her head, “she won’t feel up to it, Theo.” The girl replied.
The Nott boys jaw clenched as his gaze turned ice cold and his eyes met with the smirking Wrenwood boy. Your ex was smug because he had successfully broken you… well he thought he had. Except Theodore refused to let that be true. You weren’t broken and you didn’t need fixed. You just needed to find your spark again and he was going to help you find it.
❤️🩹
It took two days for you to leave your room. It was faster than the girls had expected, but you still weren’t you. You still avoided classes and meal times, still not wanting to see the pity glances from some, smug faces from others, and everyone’s eyes being trained on you.
Your friend’s faces said enough when you walked down to the common room after the two days of being cooped up. You looked rough and you knew it. Your eyes were swollen and cheeks were puffy. Your hair was thrown up messily and you were in comfy clothing.
Without saying a word, you took the seat beside Theo, your safe space (if you were being honest), and leaned into him a bit in need of comfort. His arm immediately wrapped around you seeming to understand exactly what you needed.
Enzo was the first one to speak up, “how are you feeling?” He asked hesitantly; knowing that you weren’t well. He just didn’t want to seem rude by not paying attention to her appearance.
“okay.” You whispered back; not really having the strength to speak up. Your body was exhausted and you hadn’t eaten.
Enzo sent you a small smile, “if it makes you feel any better… Wrenwood is in the hospital wing.” Before anyone else could reply or you could process what he said, a smack was heard followed by Lorenzo letting out an, “ouch, riddle what was that for?”
Confused by what was happening, your gaze looked up at Theodore (who was glaring at Enzo). “Whats that about?” You asked lowly.
Your voice took Theodore’s eyes off his friend and they moved to your swollen eyes. You could visibly see his eyes soften when they met yours which was something you had noticed before. “Nothing.” He replied back quietly with a shake of his head.
You stayed in the common room for most of the day. Only leaving for the restroom or to go get your school books. You weren’t attending class but Pansy was trying to ensure you didn’t fall behind. It was currently dinner and everyone else was in the great hall; except you and Theo (who had insisted on staying back).
You were lost in thought, your notes and Pansy’s notes on your lap. Nothing felt right and you were starting to realize that it hadn’t for a long time. You were hurt at Alaric’s infidelity but that wasn’t as surprising as it should have been.
You thought back to how everything was before the stupid relationship. How you felt and who you were. If you were honest, every single time you looked in the mirror; you didn’t see yourself. You noticed someone who looked like you but she was unrecognizable.
Theo seemed to notice your change in demeanor as you got lost in your thoughts. “What’s going on in your mind, bella?” He spoke softly using the nickname he used to call you.
Breaking out of your thoughts you looked up to meet his gaze; “it’s nothing.” Shaking your head you dismissed his question and your thoughts.
Theo didn’t push you because he was scared you’d go back to avoiding everyone. He was respecting your wishes, even if he felt you should talk about it.
“You can tell me anything if you ever want to talk about it.” That was one thing you already knew about Theodore. You knew that he was a judgment free zone and that he cared for you. It was true that you were oblivious to his feelings but you knew he cared about you at least like a friend.
❤️🩹
It took about a week to get back into your classes. You were hurt, true, but you were more embarrassed. You had a whole week to think back on how he treated you and now you understood that everyone noticed. Everyone except you.
So that was why you were going to try to make it seem as if everything was normal. You had your full makeup on, hair curled/styled to perfection and overall you looked like the version of yourself right before the break up.
During the day you had noticed a few glances your way to see if you were miserable. You just kept your head high and stayed with your friends all day.
The professors were pleased that you had taken it upon yourself to catch up on all the missed work while you were out. It felt nice to be caught up on all of the homework and class work that you had missed. You had plenty of time to do it.
You were pleased with yourself with how well you were able to pretend to be perfectly fine. You had even attended meals with your friends , even if you still didn’t have much of an appetite. The conversations at the table carried on like normal, but your smile still didn’t reach your eyes.
❤️🩹
You didn’t seem to notice when you were starting to let loose again. All you knew was that you were currently in the library with Theo working on an assignment that you were paired together for. He had taken your attention off your homework (which he has always been great at) and started teasing you.
“That’s not fair!” You playfully argued back feeling yourself let a genuine smile grow on your face. “Let me do it again.”
Theo rolled his eyes *playfully* before handing over what he was showing you. You tried to redo what he had showed you only for you to fail again. Third time was a charm and you knew it. So you quickly tried again only for it to work.
“Ha! I told you.” You spoke excitedly before you let a laugh slip out. Only you caught yourself after a moment. Theo’s smile dropped once he realized why you stopped. You cleared your throat before tucking a piece of hair behind your ear, “I’m sorry. That wasn’t… ladylike.” You apologized quickly.
Theodore’s heart sank at your apology. “You don’t have to apologize for being yourself.” He assured trying not to sound upset about you holding back. “You don’t have to keep trying to be the girl you’re not.”
You sighed the sinking feeling coming back, “I don’t know how to be who I was before… everything.”
Theodore thought for a moment. He knew what he wanted to say but he wanted it to come out less… shallow? Judgmental? “You were perfect before, stellina. There was no need for any change.”
“You’re my best friend… of course you’ll say that.” You replied crossing your arms. You had to admit that your anxiety had lessened since getting rid of Wrenwood.
Theodore shook his head. He hated that term; friend, like they weren’t closer than that prior to her Gryffindor boyfriend. “I’m saying it because it’s true.” He defended. “None of us ever had a problem with you and you never had a problem with yourself until that prick.”
“Theo,” you sighed but he wasn’t done ranting.
“—seriously, you’re beautiful without your makeup, you don’t even need the light stuff you used before. You’ve always looked perfect whether you styled your hair or just threw it up. Your voice, your laugh… everything about you was perfect. You’re still perfect, but he’s changed your mindset.” Theodore ranted not caring if he accidentally let his feelings show. “And if I had just stepped in and not listened to Mattheo the first time I noticed, then I could’ve saved you all this heartbreak.”
Your heartbeat sped up as you let his ranting sink into your brain. “When did you first notice?” Your eyebrows were furrowed in confusion and your eyes held a curious spark.
Theo shrugged leaning back like he had to think but he knew exactly when, “maybe around four or five months of you two dating.” He mumbled keeping his gaze down on the potions work on the table. “You were sitting with us at mealtime and you–you laughed at something Pansy had said…” he trailed with a sigh following. “Then you suddenly went quiet and your eyes darted straight to Wrenwood.” He grumbled before let out a humorless laugh, “and I’ll be honest. I didn’t think anything too deep about it at first. Until it kept happening.”
You knew exactly what he was talking about. Around four months was when Alaric had went from charming, sweet, and caring to controlling. He had started off slow after he had love-bombed you (which was a red flag in itself but you refused to say it back until 11 months) until he began making remarks like; “your pretty and all but more makeup would make you look amazing.” – “why is your hair so ratty today? You really should care about your outward appearance.” – “your laugh is too loud, it makes you too much.” – “seriously, why does your laugh sound like that?” – “why do you smile all the time? It’s exhausting.” And there were plenty more insults that led to you getting anxious. The need of having to control yourself to make your boyfriend happy and hopefully not annoy your best friends.
Your eyes glazed over with tears that you refused to let fall, “he made me feel like I was a burden to everyone… not just him.”
Theo frowned hearing that because he thought the group did a pretty good job of showing how much they cared for her. Everyone in their friends group bickered but it wasn’t a thing they stayed stuck on. It was just how the group of slytherin’s did. “Boys like that want control and I wish he didn’t treat you like that, bellissimo.”
Your heart melted. You had been single for going on six months and you wanted nothing more than to get back to your old self. Not to mention that you had been feeling better the last month or two… like a breath of fresh air.
“but I thought that’s how you were?” You joked trying to change the subject. You knew that the rumors that swirled around never bothered Theo. He had the reputation of a womanizer, but you had only known him to go out with one girl since you’ve been around him and that was to the Yule ball a year or two ago.
Theo gave you a look that caused a small smile to appear on your face. “totally.” He grumbled. “I don’t care what they say.” He shrugged his gaze settling on you.
“I know you aren’t like that.” You assured giving his hand a pat.
That was the night that Theodore had almost let those three little words slip. The words that have been eating him alive for years.
**
*1 year later*
It took a year, a full year after your break up to return to yourself. Well, mostly to your normal self. You still had some anxiety issues that randomly occurred, but you had managed to keep them at bay; thanks to Theo. You had to admit that he was mainly the reason that everything was falling back into place. He always had a gentle reminder to be you, no matter what.
“Are you coming to Hogsmeade with us Saturday?” Daphne asked you as you and the girls sat on your beds.
You shrugged, “Possibly. I’m going with Theo but he may be going with the guys.” The explanation caused Daphne and Pansy to give each other a look. One that you didn’t miss. “What? Why are you guys making those faces?”
Pansy let out a huffed laughed, “you’re telling me that you still can’t see how that boy feels about you?” She asked.
“Theo? He doesn’t—“ you had started to say before Daphne and Pansy both interrupted you.
“Yes, he does.” Daphne replied while Pansy had said, “he’s head over heels for you.”
You shook your head refusing to believe what they said. “He’s my best friend. He doesn’t view me as anything else.” You assured them.
Daphne snorted, “okay.. and I didn’t bang Mattheo after the Yule ball.” She spoke sarcastically.
Pansy shot the Greengrass girl a disgusted glare before turning her attention back to the oblivious girl. “He’s been pining after you since third year…. If not earlier.” And before you could object again she gave you another look, “how many girls has he been with since you’ve known him?”
You shrugged, thinking about what she had asked. “I don’t know… one or two?” If you were being honest; you didn’t want to think about that. Because now the thought of him with someone began to make you sick to your stomach. Which was new for you.
“Exactly.” Pansy replied. “He wants you. Why else would he beat the shit out of your ex after the breakup?”
Daphne nodded her head in agreement, “and Draco told me that Theo was the one to bruise his face after he had heard you two arguing. Draco mentioned that he was on a ‘mission’ to destroy a piece of blackmail.” She explained.
You stood up from your bed, “he’s the one that beat him up? Both times?”
Pansy and Daphne nodded, “I rest my case.” Pansy stated knowing that she had, hopefully, finally convinced you.
“I have to go.” You mumbled before grabbing a cloak and rushing out the door. Mainly because you were sick… worried about Theo knowing what that picture consisted of.
“Go get your man!”
*
You already knew where he would be. He was always at the astronomy tower on Wednesday nights. He claimed those were his “me-time” smoking sessions.
You could feel your nerves in your stomach for many reasons. Mainly because you were about to find out if he truly saw the photo. You were worried that he viewed you differently because of it. It wasn’t something you were proud of and it was from a night you and him were drunk.
Your footsteps came to a halt when you caught his outline. He was leaning against the stone and facing the sky. Taking a deep breath, you took another step to finish your mission. You knew he’d still be your friend even if he did think differently of you.
“Hey,” you spoke softly to make yourself known. You carefully made your way over and stood beside him. “mind if I join you?”
Theodore shook his head, “you know I always want you around.” He teased but you caught a bit of seriousness about it. He took a puff of his cigarette before looking over in your direction, “you okay?” He asked softly after blowing out the smoke.
You nodded, keeping your eyes trained on the clear sky. The stars were extra interesting to you tonight. After a moment of silence you sighed and turned to the side to face him. “Can I… ask you something?”
Theo nodded taking the last puff of his cigarette before squishing it out and placing it in an ashtray. He blew the smoke out and patiently waited for the question since he didn’t know exactly what you were going to ask.
You sighed and nervously played with your hands, “were you the reason Wrenwood came to breakfast with bruises that one time?” That was the easier question you could ask. Because you knew Theo would be honest with you and if he did do it, then he was the reason she didn’t have to choose. Because her ex had lost his leverage.
Theo repositioned himself not really understanding where you might go with this. “I was.” He spoke truthfully.
Your breath hitched, there it was. The truth that you were scared for. “That means you saw the enchanted photo.” You whispered. “I-I can explain it. I was drunk and it was after a party in Gryffindor and his friends were making jokes about inappropriate videos… and he was saying some very vulgar things so I decided to ‘let loose’ and—“
Theo cut you off not wanting to know where you were going with it. He would rather stay in the dark than know about your… activities with your dick of an ex. “Tesoro,” he shook his head. “I didn’t see the photo. I destroyed it and that’s it.”
You let out a sign of relief before nodding your head in confirmation. “I didn’t want you to think differently about me.” You admitted.
Theo’s gaze softened, “trust me, nothing could make that happen.” He promised. He meant it whether you believed him or not.
“So you were the reason he was in the hospital wing after the break up?” You asked as you recalled what Enzo had said and what Pansy had said.
“Yes,” he shrugged but then he took a step closer to you. “To be fair you weren’t letting me see you and he was walking about with that arrogant attitude…” he defended which made you laugh, your real laugh. The one that made Theo smile bigger than ever.
Once you two had called down a little, your gaze was fixed on the stars. Theo’s gaze was solely fixed on you. You didn’t notice; not at first anyway.
“You know…” you trailed off knowing you were fixing to get to know Theo’s feelings. “Pansy swears that you’ve been pining after me since third year.” Your voice came our soft. No judgment, but also not love struck. “I told her she was wrong but she insists on you being ‘head-over-heels’ in love with me.”
It took a moment for him to say anything and that alone made you anxious. “Pansy’s wrong.” He replied noticing the way a flash of disappointment settled on your face. You quickly hid it before letting out a fake laugh. “I’ve been pining after you since second year.” He corrected.
Your breath caught in your throat as the disappointment washed away. You weren’t sure what to say. Because you had been blind for over three years.
“I’ve been in love with you since third year.” He admitted. “You don’t know how many times I have beaten myself up over not telling you.” He added in a softer and quieter tone. “Because if I would’ve told you, then maybe you would’ve been with me the past three years and all your hurt would’ve been avoided.”
You turned your gaze to him, “it’s not your fault, Theo.” You replied in hopes he knew that. “I was stupid and oblivious to everything.”
“You’re not stupid… maybe visually impaired to people’s romantic feelings.” He assured and teased.
You rolled your eyes but didn’t argue at what he said. “In case you’re wondering; I love you too.” You whispered a reply, as a smile graced your features when his broke out into a grin. “I had a crush or something on you since the end of third year, but this past year really opened my eyes.”
Theodore knew his smile couldn’t get any bigger. He had waited years (four years to he exact since you all were in your sixth year now) for you, but he knew it was definitely worth every second.
“Is it too soon to kiss you?” He asked softly as his gaze darted from your eyes to your lips.
You shook your head before grabbed his sweater and yanking him towards you. Your lips collided with his for the first time (which was way over due) and your heart rate sped up. He kissed you back as soon as his lips touched yours, but you could feel the years of longing and waiting behind his kiss.
Theo wrapped his arms around your waist and tugged you closer, deepening the kiss as he done so. The taste of smoke lingered a bit on his tongue but you didn’t mind. It’s what made Theo, well, Theo.
You pulled away for a breath but your break didn’t last long before he was pulling you in again. He was kissing you as if his life depended on it and you weren’t complaining.
“About damn time.” A voice broke you two apart causing you two to be startled a bit. Mattheo was looking at you two with a smug look on his face. “I didn’t expect to walk in and see Theo sucking your facing off.”
You rolled your eyes and wrapped your arms around Theo’s waist before hiding your embarrassment in his sweater.
“You could’ve turned and went back to the dorm.” Theo replied glaring at his friend.
Mattheo shrugged while lighting his cigarette, “I was about to send you two off.” He spoke normally like he hadn’t just witnessed his two friends making out. “But seriously, dorms empty right now.” He winked at Theo.
Before Mattheo could say anything else, you had pulled away from Theo and tugged him towards the stairs. You were going to give the Riddle boy his own space and you wanted to be with Theo in private for a few more minutes.
“Don’t forget to wrap it up, Nott.” Mattheo yelled down the stairs to the new couple.
