Fred Weasley Childhood Friends to Lovers
you don't remember when you and Fred started being friends
"Since you were babies" everyone would have told you
"Your teeth were just coming in, so they were a bit sharp. He found out rather quickly once he grabbed a fist full of your hair." Molly Weasley would recount fondly "You've been joined at the hip ever since."
and it was true, you two were inseparable
you'd trail happily after him and George wherever they went
whenever you'd trip, he'd always shake his head with a laugh
"Forgot how to work your legs, Y/N?"
when you were injured, he'd scoop you up in his arms and rush you to his mum or somewhere safe where your injury could be looked at
he might even wrap your injured limb with his hoodie/jumper
he'd simply shrug nonchalantly when his mother questions why he tied his hoodie/jumper tightly around your ankle
running around the Burrow is just the norm
whether you and the Fred (and by extension, George) are being the chaser
or the ones being chased (by Moly Weasley or Percy)
he didn't fall first, but he fell harder
it would have taken Fred several years to realize his feelings
you were just his friend who he just often held hands with as you ran though the halls away from Filch
you were his best and dearest friend who he'd wait for at breakfast and walk you to each of your classes even if it caused him to be late
once he realized his feelings, he'd be thrown through a loop
he might be off his game a little but play it off like its nothing
continue pranks like it was nothing because he wasn't in love with his best friend
how had he not noticed before?
George would immediately clock him on it
teasing him about it constantly
even Lee getting in on it
from that point on, Fred would be more clingy
hovering around you more than usual
before, people who flirted with you didn't bother him
but now he wanted nothing more than to hex them into next week
"Jealously doesn't look good on you, Freddie."
so pulling you closer to him was just for fun?
wrapping his arm around you must have been because he thought you were cold?
you knew better than that
he wouldn't have truly come to terms with his feelings til the Yule Ball
and you were asked by someone else
he didn't like it one bit
he'd been fuming when the poor bloke came and asked you, glaring daggers into his back
it was very hard for him to focus
especially when he saw you at the ball
he'd find you after the ball and confess everything
pour out his entire heart
and how he can't stand another man looking your way
"I wanna see where this goes, you and me."
