“Imagine getting rejected for Longbottom,” Draco quipped. Blaise’s eyes shot daggers at him. “At least, I actually asked someone. Going with Pans, really Draco? Given your incessant rambling, I swore you’d ask Potter!” Blaise laughed loudly, joined by the other boys. Draco’s hold on his tie tightened and his shoulders grew tense. It was just a mindless jab and he shouldn’t let it get to him, but it hit a bit too close to home. Draco scoffed nervously and turned around. “I bet you’ll end the night sucking face with Ronald Weasley,” he shot back.  Blaise laughed good-naturedly and punched Draco in his shoulder. “You blonde twat.”

Summary

Harry is asked to test a mysterious potion by the Weasley twins for their new line of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes products.

Little does he know the potion forces its consumer into romcom-esque scenarios with the first person they encounter.

Too bad that just so happened to be Draco Malfoy.

“I really missed this,” Harry said presently, his voice low as if he thought Draco might be asleep. “I miss you. I miss being close to you.”

“I miss you, too,” Draco said at once, and he knew the eagerness in his voice wasn’t fair. He’d been the one who ended things between them.

Harry pushed himself up to lie on his back beside Draco. He made as if to take Draco’s hand, then checked himself, “What was it that you wanted to tell me?”

“Oh,” Draco drew a deep breath and shut his eyes. “My mother’s died.”

“Fuck,” said Harry. He seemed at a loss.

“Yes,” agreed Draco. He opened his eyes, “What’s more, the silly woman died without any next of kin. Well. It’s sort of complicated. My father is in Azkaban, obviously and no good to anyone at this point, even if they were to let him out in an unprecedented fit of compassion. Andromeda and I were disowned, so neither of us have any authority over her estate. And that sort of makes you the senior member of the Black family.”

“Me?! How’d you reckon that?!”

“I don’t reckon anything,” Draco snapped. “I certainly didn’t select you for this dubious honour. It’s what my solicitor told me when I tried to make burial arrangements for my mother. Cousin Sirius made you his heir, so legally you’re the last living member of my mother’s family. Congratulations.”

“But Sirius was disowned, too,” Harry protested.

“Not legally. Apparently his parents didn’t bother with that. Not as thorough as mine, I suppose. So Sirius was legally a Black family heir, and thence he made you his heir. Voila.”

“That’s,” Harry struggled for words.

“Fucked. Yes.”

Share the Night With Me, Love

a gift fic for @orange-peony for the Wheel of Drarry Mini-Exchange

Length: 850 words Rating: T Warnings: None apply Summary: Their clandestine meetings happen not in alleys, but in their shared dreams. Though the world cannot yet know of their commitment to each other, here they can find perfect peace together. Notes: thank you to @onbeinganangel for the beta, and @hogwartsfirebolt for arranging the exchange!

The fresh citrus smell of oranges split the air as Harry dug his fingers into the skin, pulling it back, revealing the soft fleshy fruit inside. He lay, draped across the little wooden bench in their garden, bare, soil-covered feet on Draco’s lap, staining his neat trousers with the mud. Juice from the orange dripped obscenely over his fingers and he sucked it off, sliding his tongue between two fingers, smiling at Draco’s distraction.

In fair retribution, Draco reached for his feet and began to rub, digging a heavy knuckle into the sore base of Harry’s arch. Harry let him, pressing his foot into his hand and relaxing into the bench, shutting his eyes at the perfect release of tension.
