“Have you ever been taken advantage of?”
He doesn’t really know how they ended up at this point. One minute they had been discussing something trivial like the last thing they had watched on Netflix and suddenly Sangwoon was dropping this bomb on him? While they were at an event? Mind you, Seth had long slipped away from the crowded room and escaped outside where he had been smoking silently, staring at the top of the buildings surrounding the one they were in. And although he had eventually had company in the form of the actor, that’s where he still was, where they still were.
He throws a glance at Sangwoon and searches his face for some sort of explanation for the sudden change in topic, but he’s not able to read him at all. (Damn those good actors and their ability to successfully hide behind masks when they feel it’s necessary). Seth knows he’s definitely not drunk enough for that kind of conversation. Hell, he’s not even tipsy. He’s trying to resist the urge to reach for another cigarette by playing with his lighter instead.
There aren’t a lot of ways he can go about this. It’s either he was, or he wasn’t. But as soon as the question had dropped, his mind had filled with unpleasant memories and he’s not sure why anyone would want to hear about this. He eventually sighs and stops playing with his lighter, keeping it in his palm as he shoves his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket.
“Yes, I have,” he finally admits. He wonders if he should expand more on this, but he’s not really the kind of person to spill his life story easily so in the end he settles for what he’s already said, deciding it will have to be enough for now. “Why are you suddenly asking?” he asks, because it’s been niggling at him. “Did something happen?” he presses.
