I decided to take Area Man Andy for Bont's rescue mission, just for science. Plus, he was available for FREE (i bet it was a token from Alice since she has forgotten to give his stans any diamond scene in S2)

Despite being irrelevant for most part of S2, Andy has been getting one-on-one training sessions with Geralt lately. How I envy you, Andy.

Between these late-night exertions with Geralt and training for the Academy scouting department, I have a feeling that Andy will play a huge part in the upcoming war between the demons and angels. I just hope he won't get caught up like poor ol' Simon in that epic MB final battle. Okay, back to this scene. Andy isn't that bad if you friendzoned him. He clearly still cares about the MC without crossing the friendship line this time.

Also interesting to note the different reactions from Bont towards Andy (😊), Lucifer (😠) and Dino (😯).

Andy was a very religious man coming from a small immigrant family in Canada, his father was born in Mexico where he met Andy’s mother. She passed during labour and mr. Gutiérez moved to Canada shortly after.

When Andy grew up he appreciated his dad a TON, they eventually got out of poverty as well and Andy could pick up base jumping, as it made him feel closer to god.

When he died and found out that the bible lied, he was shattered. He hated demons with his entire being and saw them as monsters, and he put angels (especially Sammy) on a little bit of a pedestal.

This led to immortals not liking him all that much, so he mainly stuck around other unclaimed. At the day of the dead on earth, he’s understandably sad cause he has a connection to Mexico specifically. Lucifer notices (for once) and they start talking.

Lucifer: You seem more depressing than usual, unclaimed.

Andrés: Yeah? You come to gloat, pendejo? Feed on my suffering like your kind does?

Lucifer: Do you even hear yourself? Despite what you believe, I don’t spend my every waking moment trying to make your life miserable, you know? I’m not a character from that silly book of yours and I don’t care for your existence.

Andrés: 👁️👄👁️

This conversation gives Andy new perspective on demons and he gradually grows to tolerate them more, that’s when he starts training with Geralt and gains more confidence. And when it’s time he joins a side, he’s surprised with a red glow as hell welcomes him with open arms :)

EDIT: his fashion post-glowup is obv not steampunk anymore, but I’m too lazy to change it rn

Chapter 3 has one (1) tiny little line devoted to Andy, my LI, in it. Because you know, 10 years of being with someone and then watching them be killed is not super traumatic. 🙄

Edit: chapters 4 and 5 don't mention him at all. MC even hangs out with friends and reflects on how she's so happy they've all been resurrected and are alive. She does not immediately think of Andy when the unclaimed are being taken as slaves. Like, what is this disaster of a book??
