Today's thought: Sky was the second person from Skyloft in-game who made it down to the Surface. Zelda had the help and guidance of surface-dweller Impa as she adjusted to the change in altitude, air pressure, etc. When Groose joined them on the Surface, he remained at the Sealed Grounds, likely exerting himself but not to the aerobic level that Sky was. And, to be fair, Groose also had an Impa to look out for him while he adjusted.
Sky did not. Sky kept pushing himself like crazy come hell or high water, never stopping, barely resting, and running himself into the ground until the very end of his journey.
When you move from an area of low altitude to high altitude, you run the risk of altitude sickness because O2 levels are much lower and your body works harder to transport oxygen. When you move from an area of higher altitude to lower, though, the opposite can happen. Your cardiovascular system is so hyped about the extra O2 pumping through your veins that you might overdo it. And I get the feeling that he reaaaally overdid it.
So maybe some of that exhaustion isn't only due to all of our cardiovascular and pulmonary headcanons for the poor kid. Maybe some of it was that he was literally just running the rest of his body until things started to break down on him.
HSH Febuwhump Day 23 - “You’ll Have to go Through Me”
Continuation of Days 8 & 9 & 21
----
The figure is imposing. Draped in simple black waist garb, the man’s fiery red hair and eyes stand out, nearly glow in the dark of the cavern. He’s tall and broad, made of pure muscle. His arms and chest are covered in black ink made to look like dragon scales, and his nails are sharpened into wicked points. An ‘x’ shaped scar covers his forehead and his face is twisted into blatantly cruelty and hatred. He holds a massive great sword in one hand, displaying his pure power.
Sky doesn’t feel an ounce of fear.
The knight raises his own blade, his personal sword that he helped craft and forge, and meets the man’s heated stare with an equally icy glare.
Behind the man, the bodies of his men are strewn along the floor, having been killed in their sleep.
Between them, Ghirahims fresh corpse lay cooling.
Behind Sky, Sun cradles her broken hand to her chest, watching the two stand off.
“So… you would stand before obliteration to defend your Goddess?” The man’s voice was timeless, neither young nor old. But it was strong and deep and echoed off the walls of the stone chamber.
“How interesting.” The man mused, lips curling up at the edges. He’s amused at the guardsman’s unwavering stare. Not many can meet his eyes without flinching. “The last chosen heroes I faced were nothing more than sniveling, cowardly worms who tucked tail and ran at the mere sight of me. They were hardly worth even chasing down.”
The man examined his blade, seemingly captivated with the obsidian-black metal. “I had thought back then that the Goddess had chosen her protectors poorly.”
His eyes raise to the princesses, gaze burning. “But it was I who had chosen poorly. The woman I killed was not the one who holds the Goddesses soul. She was nothing more than the bearer of the true Goddess.”
Sky hears Sun inhale sharply behind him. Not in fear. Anger.
The man points his sword at her, eyes glittering. “It’s you. Finally, Hylia Incarnate, we meet! How I’ve waited for this day! I thought it would be another rotation before we clashed, but what is a single day when I can feel my destiny before me? Quake in fear, little Goddess, as you stand before Demise!”
He laughed, all delight and anticipation. He bore his teeth savagely, a deep hunger clear on his face. Animalistic in his blatant desire. “I shall take your soul for sustenance and ascend tonight! Your power will be mine!“
“The hell you will!” Sky snarled, blade raised. “You’ll have to go through me!”
Demise grinned. “Of course, hero. There would be no victory if I don’t first tear the meat off your bones. As is foretold, the path to eradication of this pathetic world is through the broken bodies of the Goddess and her chosen one. Only after they lay dead at my feet will I finally gain the power to reshape the world into my vision.”
The man flourished his blade, showing off the clear skill he possessed. With one vicious slice, Demise severed the body of his underling in half. He kicked Ghirahim's pieces to the side, clearing the main floor of the circular room. Sun gasped when the top half of Ghirahim's body flew to the side of her, splattering both her and Sky in his blood. His bottom half went the other way, rolling down a small stone slope with legs twisted limply.
Sky didn’t blink or flinch. He just held his sword at the ready. He was not feeling the exhaustion of the days of searching, nor the pain of injuries from his fight with the Demon Lord just minutes prior. He only felt Sun’s eyes on his back, her anxious gaze tracing the tears in his armor and the blood staining through his uniform.
He felt her fear for him.
But also her trust.
He tightened his grip on his blade. He would not fail her again.
“Make this interesting for me, Hero.” Demise rumbled, taking his stance. “And know that when you fall, everyone and everything you love falls with you.”

Skyward Sword, my beloved
Clearly Sky did something to be worthy of his title as “Godslayer” and this is my version of it. Sun in HSH is the leader of the church and some people think she’s the actual incarnate of Hylia. So I took Demise and made him into some insane religious figure who believes that he’s the incarnate of the Demon God, who needs to absorb Sun’s soul to properly ascend. Thus, when Sky kills him he’d be known as Godslayer.
Also i threw in that “Demise killed the last queen” to give a lil weight to his threat level.
Today, I was too sad to write. But I did do this. Seven boys have their private rooms on the second floor, and this is how I imagine it looks.
All of the boys get a twin bed, a dresser, a small desk, and a closet in their space. Some of them have aded some furniture, others not so much.
Wild's/Champion's room
Probably the worst layout of all of them. He's got his bed floating in the middle with a dresser against the wall beneath his window, his desk crammed at the foot of his bed (how can he even pull out that chair??) and another dresser right next to that. Glad he has all that drawer space, because most of his clothes are just spewing out of half-opened drawers. You best believe Champion does an IMMEDIATE overhaul of this space as soon as it's his.
Twilight's room
Neat, tidy, and simple. That closet provides ample space for what little clothing Twi owns, so he only has another small bureau in the corner next to his desk. Other than that and a bedside table, that's all he's got. He does have a few pictures on the wall, mostly of him and his friends or him and Colin, and there's a piece of lovely horse artwork over his bed that everyone makes fun of him about.
Warriors's room
In contrast, that closet is absolutely NOT large enough for all of War's wardrobe, and so he has to keep a rolling rack with some of his hanging clothes on it. That at least affords him some privacy if he leaves his door open while lounging in bed, although it means he has no room for an end table and has to use a small shelf to charge his phone by his bed at night. That leaves a small bureau and, in lieu of a desk, a vanity that he has parked in front of the window for all that lovely natural light.
Sky's room
Sky's bedroom is simple, yet very comfortable. He's got the most pillows per square footage of bed, and he has a sumptuous little rug next to the bed for the twenty minutes he spends hunched over the edge of it in the morning. He's got blackout curtains and just one soft little bedside lamp. Other than his desk and a small bureau, he doesn't have need for much else.
Four's room
Four's setup is... unique. In Termina he was happy to inhabit the basement, where there was ample privacy. In Castle Town Time insisted that he take a proper bedroom, but it's anyone's guess how much Four actually uses it. As soon as you enter you're accosted by the back of a tall dresser. It isn't a pretty thing to look at, but it gives Four's bed a cozy little corner alcove that feels pretty secure. His closet is only half-filled with clothes, and his desk is for collecting dust.
The bathroom
It's got a soaking tub/shower combined, a little sink and mirror, a toilet that faces the door, and some open shelving where those who dare to keep their toiletries in reach of the others can, if they so choose. No guarantee that nobody else is using some if they're out there, though.
Legend and Hyrule's room
Time knew they were going to share anyway, so these two have a bit more space than the others do. They chose to just keep their mattresses on the floor butted up against one another's, to share blankets for warmth of course. They've got a bureau that they share against one wall, and their closet is fairly large compared to the others. There's a reason why Legend doesn't allow Warriors in their room. They've got heavy hanging curtains over their one window, and Legend has shelves in the corner for his books and bottles and who knows what else. They've got a lovely Gerudo patterned circular rug in the center of the room with celestial motifs woven in. At any given time their floor is covered in boxes or bags or clothing, most of it Legend's fault, and much of which overflows in to...
Storage
This is where tubs for clothes that are out of season, or holiday decorations, or extra bedding is kept. This used to be Wind's room, he literally drew the short straw when they were choosing their spaces on move in day. He didn't care about the lack of a window but it was simply too small for his computer and bed to fit in comfortably.
How many times has Sky had to carry someone back home after they'd had a bit too much to drink? I imagine he'd be a sweetheart about it, assuming he doesn't just lay them on the couch and flop beside them for a nap when they get home
Sky carries someone home probably once to twice a year. It's much more frequent in the beginning.
Legend got a bit competitive with Warriors doing shots one night and didn't realize that after the first two Wars had switched to water. Sky carried him in the classic fireman's carry. Once home, he got dumped in the first floor bathroom at his request and spent the night there.
Warriors got the princess-carry treatment once. He relished it the entire time, arms around Sky's neck and kicking his legs while he shouted and laughed with the others. When Sky went to put him on the couch Warriors loudly and wetly kissed his cheek. He got dumped on the coffee table for that. It broke, and both he and Sky got a thorough chewing-out in the morning.
Hyrule needs to be carried home every time he comes out with the guys, the poor bean. If Sky's tired by the time they get back, Hyrule is getting crushed onto the couch cushions with Sky and they're both sleeping it off there. Legend doesn't mind because Hyrule fucking loves it.
Wind has also been carried home, just once. He was biting and scratching until Sky pinched his leg so hard that he quit it. He was asleep before they made it home, but he got dumped on the couch by himself.
Wild likes a piggyback when he's too drunk to see straight. More than once he's tucked his face into Sky's shoulder and fallen asleep on the walk. Sky will usually take him up to his room and share a nappetizer in Wild's bed before (maybe) making it back to his own.
Twilight is a bit too big and too heavy for Sky to carry easily. He certainly could, but Twi is usually the arm-over-your-shoulder chum when he's having trouble getting his feet under him. There's been one occasion when Sky needed someone else on his other side, which ended up being Legend. Twi was sick in the bushes out front of the house.
Four does not get drunk, he likes his fruity mocktails thanks much.
Imagine Warriors in a corset getting Sky to help him lace it up and complaining because Sky's not putting enough force behind tightening it until Sky snaps like "dude where the fuck is your waist????"
Which Wars takes as an ego boost for the next 7-8 business days
Sky being incredibly flustered because he likes corsets but not on his bro he is not into dudes he's heteroflexible and having a mini crisis so that's what he calls that thing in his pants all while Warriors is badgering him because Wars himself is antsy about this and Sky's jitters are making his vibes horrendous.
Only for Warriors to be an even bigger pestering ass once Sky snaps at him and pulling up anatomical diagrams to explain.
"So if you stand in front of a mirror, it should be the narrowest part of your torso."
"Okay except you're built like a two-by-four."
"If I bend like this, see where the skin folds? It's right about there."
"I can't see that through your shirt, dumbass! What did you make this thing out of, the curtains??"
"Oh, don't be mean just because your torso folds in three spots."
But yes, once they're done strangling one another and Wars gets his time in the limelight he is going to be preening in front of the mirror for days.
Time definitely isn't stealthily ordering him four more...
