10/10/22 - I’ll be honest, I’ve not been feeling it for a while. But this weekend came the urge to go and make something. My old @gransforsbruk axe would be the victim this time and believe it or not I’ve never made a replacement mask for it, Or any axe for that matter? I’ve had it nearly a decade but never got that compulsion to make my own sheath for it (which I’ve learnt recently is called a Mask 😉) must of been happy enough with the one it came with and suppose I had no image in my head of something my own to make 🤷🏻♀️ Anyway, the motivation for the Hattori knife sheath in rough-out actually came from an axe mask I’d seen. It was the contrast of the fibrous rough-out against the darkened waxed burnished edges and crisp stitch line I think that does it for me. So I guess it’s only right coming full circle to make a mask for my own axe in this style. The addition of the grain-out leather is a personal touch but inspired again by the original Hattori sheath. 1/9/22 - So today we have the Hattori Camp Knife sheath from a month or so back. As you can clearly see , Buttero takes a tan like nobody’s business! Whereas the Tärnsjö rough-out is a little slower off the mark, understandably so you might think being a more fibrous finish but I find it the same for the grain side too. 29/8/22 - iPad sleeve, 2020. - This is one of many natural leather pieces that I have brought along with me, so expect a heavy dose of bronzed vegtan themed posts over the next few weeks/ months, maybe. - I’m struggling to recall the origin of this leather, I’m having conflicting memories on it so I do apologise. It does take on a tan very quickly though and the patina, although slow in progress I can tell is going to be very classic.
