The Long Island Edge: Turning Heads
The Long Island Edge (L.I.E.) is a web show about the people and places of Long Island. For you to watch what you want. How you want it. And when you want it. It is the associate show to For Your Island, a student produced magazine show about the people and places of Long Island, from Montauk to Massapequa, from Bayside to Bay Ridge, and all points in between. For Your Island just completed its 23rd season at Hofstra University, while the newest addition, the L.I.E., concluded its 7th season.
This semester, I have had the distinct pleasure to be the producer for the web show, allowing me to work with 6 very talented individuals who produced some epic content ranging from art to science, to blacksmithing, to the circus, to rugby; traveling to locations in places from Brooklyn all the way out to Brookhaven.
Last season, the L.I.E. developed a new form of watching the show to a single player. A gorgeous design allowed the L.I.E. to jump formats to a complete user friendly means of watching online episodes. This year, we took the L.I.E. to the oceans of the world wide web, and developed an interactive web site combining social media, interaction, FYI, and a new blog.
It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of an awesome show, one of the coolest seasons, and being able to work with the most talented people I have been able to work with yet, was the cherry on top.
I hope you enjoy the 2 episodes as much as I have, and of course, tell your friends. Who knows, maybe you'll learn something new about Long Island.
