NOTE: This is an assignment, and we were asked to make an ORIGINAL fairy tale. I don't know if you consider it a fairy tale, but I hope you guys like it. If you have any comments about it, please do go to my ask box. THANK YOU :*
Once there was a young girl that always dreams of a perfect world, her name was Meredith. She was a fun, loving, and sweet girl. She enjoyed every single thing in life, she even loves the house that she lives in. She calls it Emily. Everything that happens every day, she was thankful for, but it all changed when her parents died from a car accident. Scared, confused, and still shocked, the girl was sent to an adoption home, leaving Emily behind. She was picked up by Mrs. Aquino, the head lady of the adoption home. She introduced her to the place. She showed her to each room in the whole building, except for one locked, brown door that they always passed but Mrs. Aquino never have seemed to notice. She showed her to one of the girls’ rooms, the room at the end of the hallway. She walked Meredith to her bed, the one at the end of the room near the window, and told her, “Now get ready and dinner will be served.” and smiled. Meredith nodded but didn’t say a word. She sat on her bed still scared and sad; she opened her suitcase, which Mrs. Aquino was carrying throughout the trip around the house. She changed her clothes and looked at the framed family picture that was in her suitcase. “I can’t believe they’re gone. It seems like it was just yesterday when Mom and I are playing tea party and Dad was the waiter.” she said then sighed. She returned the picture in the suitcase, and placed it under the bed then went straight to the dining room. There she saw the other kids, tall ones and small ones, girls and boys, young and old, well not that old. Everybody was finished eating and asked to go to bed. In the bedroom, Meredith met another girl named Eleanor. She was sweet and friendly, and Meredith likes her. Meredith asked questions like how long has she been here, why she is here, and what’s with the brown door at the end of the hallway. They immediately became friends. “I’m sleepy.” Eleanor said, “let’s talk tomorrow.” “Okay.” Said Meredith, and they went to sleep. A loud knocking awakened Meredith, she right away wakes up Eleanor, “Eleanor! Eleanor! Wake up!” but Eleanor answered with a moan. Meredith once again wakes up Eleanor as the knocking gets louder and she gets up, “What?!” Eleanor said, “Did you hear that loud knock?” said Meredith shaking in fear, “What knock?” asked Eleanor, “That loud knock that’s coming from outside the hall.” They got quiet to listen for the knock. Nothing happens but they waited, suddenly a loud knock roared through the quiet halls of the building, which startled the two girls. Meredith went out to investigate and saw a light at the other side of the brown door. “Come!” said Meredith to Eleanor, she rushes up to Meredith, “Look!” the two girls wondered and went towards the brown door. Slowly they walk through the hallway; they got to the door and decided to open it. “It’s unlocked!” whispered Meredith. They opened the door and a blinding light welcomed them as they stepped on the other side. There they discovered a sunny place and a house that looks like Emily. They went towards the house and tried to ring the doorbell but no one answered. They once again rang the doorbell and someone answered the door. Meredith was startled as she saw her mom in front of her. “Meredith, dear, I’ve been looking all over for you, and I see you’ve brought a friend. Come and have a snack,” her mom said. Meredith looked at Eleanor as if she has seen a ghost and went inside. In the kitchen is her dad reading the newspaper like he always does, and her mom serving the cookies she has baked. “Here you go sweethearts.” Said Meredith’s mom and smiled. “Honey, am I not getting one?” said her dad jokingly, “No.” said the mom but laughed and gave him one. “So, Mary, who’s your new friend?” Meredith was speechless and answered, “Her uh name’s E-e-Eleanor!” “Well hello there Eleanor! Nice to meet you” said Meredith’s father. “Nice to uh meet you too, sir” Eleanor nervously answered. They’re done eating and Meredith asked her parents if they could go outside and they agreed. Meredith and Eleanor quickly dashed outside the house, after they got a pretty far from the house they saw Meredith’s dog, Lassie, playing in the backyard. Meredith called her out and she excitedly runs toward them, “Hi Lassie! I missed you!” said Meredith, “I have a new friend, her name’s Eleanor” Meredith smiled. “Hello Eleanor! I’m Lassie, nice to meet you.” Both of the girls jumped back to their surprise that Lassie just talked. “Don’t be afraid” said Lassie, “You’re in a different world now, everything’s weird.” Meredith and Eleanor are still speechless. “Come with me and I’ll show you.” The girls followed Lassie without any word coming out of their mouths. They went into Meredith’s bedroom, Meredith’s favorite place. Everything was like before except for some pictures that’s in the frames. “What happened?” said Meredith, “Ever since you’re gone, everything changed.” Lassie explained. “Me? Gone?” Meredith all confused with Lassie’s explanation, “Yes, you were gone. You’re a ghost. They can see you because they miss you.” The girls are still confused, “But how about Eleanor?” Meredith asked, “She’s also a ghost. You are their imagination. They’re so depressed that they imagine you were here.” Meredith was shocked, so was Eleanor. “Meredith, I know you want stay here forever, but not Eleanor. If you stay here long, you will be trapped and you can never go back out.” Lassie warned Meredith and Eleanor, “Eleanor can’t stay, she still needs to be with real people, and so are you.” Meredith is confused about staying and getting Eleanor back in the real world. “How do we get out of here?” Eleanor asked, “Well you need to go find the door where you guys got in.” said Lassie, “Also, you need to get out before the sun sets. Just remember that the sun sets at six o’clock.” The girls got nervous and checked the clock, “It’s already quarter to five! We need to hurry!” said Eleanor, “Do you remember where the door was?” asked Meredith, “All I remember is it was outside the house.” answered Eleanor. “We need to go, now!” The girls rushed down the stairs but they were blocked by Meredith’s parents, “Where are you going, girls?” asked Meredith’s dad, the girls didn’t answered but just looked at them. “We need to go out of the house, right away.” said Meredith, “Oh no, Sweetie. You’re not going anywhere, it’s getting dark.” said her mom. “Mom, you know I love you, but we need to go.” Meredith argued. All of a sudden, everything turned black and Meredith’s parents had changed to a monster with blazing red eyes and a long body, the furniture rose up to life and started to chase the girls. They ran as fast as they could and tried to find a way out, they checked all of the possible doors to go outside the house, they also tried the windows but nothing works. “Come back here, dear! Don’t go!” yelled Meredith’s mom in total anger but mixed with devilish sweetness in her voice, they went through every single room in the house to search for a way out. The furniture got them into place and returned them to the living room, Meredith looked at the clock, it’s already five thirty, and the sun is setting. “You are not going anywhere, darling. You’ll stay here with us forever.” said Meredith’s mom, “And we’ll prepare dinner. You girls stay here.” The girls tried to get away from the couch where they locked tight by Meredith’s parents. Eleanor loss hope of being able to go back, but not Meredith, she kept on finding a way to get out of the house and find the brown door, she suddenly saw one of the doors in the living room lighting up. Lassie quietly showed up, freeing the girls from the couch by telling it to set them free, but unfortunately, the parents heard Lassie free the girls from the couch and rushed to the living room. “GO! I’ll handle them.” Lassie said, the girls went toward the door but the cabinet got in their way like a mad dog angry with every person it sees. Clueless on how will they get the cabinet out of the way. Eleanor looked at the clock and said, “It’s already quarter to six! We need to hurry!” Meredith thought of a way for the cabinet to get out of the way, “I know! I’ll distract the cabinet and you go out of the door!” said Meredith, “But how about you?” answered a concerned Eleanor, “I’ll be fine, just trust me.” Out ran Meredith to distract the cabinet and it quickly follows her, Eleanor hid from the cabinet and got to the door. “I can’t take them too long” said Lassie, Meredith was caught by her parents and didn’t let her go, “Go on and close the door! I’ll be fine.” said Meredith. Instead of going back to the real world, Eleanor left the door open and went back to Meredith, she pushed Meredith towards the door but Meredith’s parents caught her “We love you sweetie.” the door shut and locked. Meredith was crying as she bangs through the brown door, but all of a sudden woken up by Eleanor, “Are you alright?” asked Eleanor, “What happened?” Meredith woke up sweating with tears on her face, “You were yelling and crying out loud. Everybody got worried. Are you okay?” Meredith looked at Eleanor and hugged her tight, “Please stay with me here.” begged Meredith, “Don’t worry, I’ll be with you. Now let’s go downstairs and have you some breakfast. Then tell me what happened, alright?” Eleanor said then smiled, “Okay.” answered Meredith, feeling relieved and happy.
In my history class, we do this thing called Music Appreciation. We listen to music from whatever era we are covering and talk about it. Yesterday, it was all about classical music. That is all Courtney and I have been listening to.
Some classic we/I like:
River Flows Through You-Yiruma
Claire de Lune-Debussy
Pretty much anything by Carter Burwell.
