Pairing: Draco Malfoy + reader
Word count: a bit less than 1k
Summary: You and Draco have a fight. Hurt/comfort with a happy ending
Warnings: none, I believe, except slight bad boyfriend behavior on Draco's part.
It’s not often when a fight reaches this point. It’s always just the slight bickering and maybe a hurtful comment that gets resolved immediately as it’s said. It wasn’t frequent when I would have to leave his prefect’s dorm and take to my own dorm room instead, this was one of those times.
The hufflepuff dorm is wonderful, warm and cozy. The plants provide it with a certain feel to it that makes you feel like you’re at home. The kitchens are just a few steps away, making late night snacks very easy to access. I’d decided that I’d hop over there before going to my dorm for a nice cup of hot chocolate, maybe that would stop the crying.
I use my sleeves to wipe away the tears from my face, and grimace when I notice a bit of snot on my sleeves, contrasting against the black fabric. I huff and I untie my black and yellow tie from around my neck, scrunching it up and shoving it into the pockets of my robe.
I wasn’t sure how it started, it was all going as planned, we were getting ready to go to sleep. I was already halfway into my pyjamas, and my skincare routine, already done. The tears along with the moisturizer make my face feel very sticky and slimy, but I couldn’t get myself to care. He was already in bed, and we were discussing our days.
He told me about his potion that he perfected. He told me about the game of exploding snaps that he won against Blaise, and the book that he started reading a week ago, that he finished. I told him about my saplings that were growing well, the excellent grade that I got in care of magical creatures and how glad I was about that grade since I’d been working so much on it. I recalled to him the long nights that Anthony Goldstein from Ravenclaw spent on it.
That seemed to switch something on in his brain, or switch off his common sense, more like it. He began to ask questions more and more about Anthony. His house, his friends, how I knew him, how long I knew him, and more along those lines. He’d asked if I had spent time with him since submitting the project and I replied, “Not really, but I wouldn’t mind it, he’s a nice person.”
When I got a few mumbles in reply, I teased, “Don’t be jealous Draco, you know you’re the only one for me.”
“I’m not jealous! As if I’d be worried that anyone would want you.” He blurted out. I knew he didn’t mean it, but that didn’t mean it hurt any less. Draco tends to say things he doesn’t mean when he’s mad, but after asking him a few more words from him and me, I couldn’t stay in the room with him any longer.
The memories brought back an ache to my heart and I let out a sob. I feel grateful when I see the common room in sight. There’s a person, leaning against the hufflepuff dorm, their back turned against me. However, it was pretty blatant who it was by the shiny blond hair. I sniffle, hoping I don’t look how I feel, “What are you doing here?”
He pants, “I'm a much faster runner than you’d think.” He takes a few more breaths, chest heaving and he continues, tilting his head with a small smile, “Plus, I took a different route.”
I nod my head and his small smile falls. He takes a few steps towards me, arms reaching out, but I fold mine in front of my chest. He sighs, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”
That’s all it takes for my eyes to start burning up again, and I hate that because I should be angry, I shouldn't be crying! I turn to look away, hoping he doesn’t notice, but he always does. He clicks his tongue, and takes a few steps towards me anyways. He wraps his arms around me, pulling me close to his chest. Even if he’s the reason why I’m angry, his embrace comforts me.
“I didn’t mean it, I promise. We all know that if anyone’s settling in this relationship, it's you. I don’t know how you put up with me, but I’m sure as hell glad that you do.” He admits and I upfold my arms to wrap them around him. I feel him relax under my accepting movements and he presses a kiss to the top of my head before resting his chin on top of mine. I confess, “That really hurt me, Draco.”
“I know, and I hate myself for hurting you. I’m so sorry.” he says, I can still feel his sharp intakes of breath against me. I pull away from his arms to look into his eyes, and he leans down to press a kiss against my lips. He implores, “I’m sorry, and I don’t expect you to forgive me, but let me make it up to you.”
I smile a bit, sniffling. He presses a small kiss to my cheek which I’m sure couldn’t have been very pleasant due to the mixture of moisturizer and tears. He reaches out to take my hand, and he suggests, “How about a cup of hot chocolate before we head back?”
My small smile stretches at how well he knows me, and I lean my head against his arm. He pulls me closer to him by my waist and he whispers, “Ohh, you know I can’t have you mad at me, love you too much for that.”

a/n: I hope everyone has a nice day! Also, just a side note, English is not my first language so if there are any mistakes please do not hesitate to let me know
It was October in your sixth year. Dumbledore has just announced the news about Triwizard Tournament, and everyone was buzzing about it. Cedric was contemplating whether to or not to put his name in the goblet. After encouragements of you, his girlfriend and his friends, he decided to do it. So it's been a couple of days since that happened, and now all Hufflepuff’s were invited to the Herbology classroom. Holding hands with Cedric you made your way to the herbology classroom. Entering you separated from each other each going to the opposites sides by the commands of Professor Sprout. Guys were on the left side of the classroom while the girls were on the right side of the classroom. By everyone's surprise, Filch and Mrs Norris were there standing next to the gramophone. After everyone had arrived and settled down, Professor Sprout started speaking. '' You all must be wondering why I brought you all here. As you all know we have guests here that are visiting us during the Triwizard Tournament. And the tradition that goes in hand with the tournament is the Yule Ball. And because of that, it is my duty as a Head of Hufflepuff house to make sure you don't embarrass yourself on the dance floor. Attendees can be a from the fourth year and above unless the younger student gets invited as a date. Now I will be pairing you in pairs. '' Choosing a guy first and then a girl, Professor Sprout seemed to have fun pairing up students, since it's one of the rare opportunities. Pairing Cedric with one of the younger girls resulted in him pouting for not being paired up with you. Being lucky, you were paired up with one of your good friends. Once everyone was paired up, Filch played music and Sprout gave us a signal to start moving. Giving us instructions as we move, we were slowly getting hang of it. That went on for an hour before she told us we were done for today, and to keep practising.
Waiting for Cedric, we make our way towards the exit of the castle as we both had a free period. Sitting under a tree a bit further from the lake, still being sceptical about the lake after the incident a couple of months ago, even though you were with your boyfriend now. Taking out a book you were currently reading, relaxing as Cedric laid his head on your lap, taking a small nap. Taking the opportunity, you ran your hands through his soft hair, massaging his scalp, making him relax even further. '' Your hair is really soft,'' you whispered, not sure if the boy was asleep '' Very soft '' you continued to play with his hair when an idea struck you. His hair was just long enough for you to be able to braid his hair, even if it's a tiny little braid. When you started braiding his hair, Cedric stirred a little. '' What are you doing? '' he asked while his eyes were still closed. '' Shhh, stop moving and let me braid your hair. '' letting out a sigh, he let you go back to braiding his hair. When you were finally done, you took your wand, murmuring a spell making a small daisy appear in his hair. He looked like an angel. Too bad he wasn't one. Chuckling at your thoughts, you didn't notice that Cedric opened his eyes, looking at you with adoration in his eyes. '' I'm so lucky to have you, I really am the luckiest guy here '' he said. A blush crept on your cheeks. He chuckled when he saw the blush, grabbing your hand and placing a soft kiss on it. You talked for a couple of minutes when he got up and took both of your hands in his, pulling you up. '' Come and dance with me '' he said, a nervous chuckle left your mouth '' Yeah sure, one problem though. I can't dance like I don't know to slow dance. '' Cedric just smiled and placed one of your arms on his shoulder and takes the other in his arm while placing the other onto your hip, pulling you closer to him. '' Now listen to me and follow my guide, okay? When I take a step forward with my left foot, you take a step back with your right foot, and if I take a step to the side with my right foot, you take a step to the side with your left foot. Okay? '' Still a little confused, but you nodded your head. '' Okay '' taking a step forward with his left foot, you take a step back with your right foot. '' There you go, you got it '' he takes a step to the side with his right foot, making you step to the side with your right foot. '' Good job, you're doing amazing love '' he smiled at you. '' Now close the gap with your right foot with your left foot, while I close the gap with my left foot to my right foot. '' you do as he says, '' I'm so proud of you for learning this quickly. Okay so now you're going forward while I'm going backwards, okay? So step forward with your left foot and I will step back with my right foot, okay? '' Nodding your head you step forward, but unfortunately a bit too soon because you stepped onto his feet. '' Sorry, sorry '' you quickly apologized, he chuckled '' It's okay no worries, darling, it happens. Try again '' and so you did, and this time you succeeded. He gave you a twirl, bringing you back into his chest. You looked at his eyes, who were looking at you with so much love. '' So tell me, darling, '' he began '' Will you do me the honour and accompany me to the Yule ball, being the most beautiful date anyone can have? '' you wrapped your arms around his neck, bringing your lips together in a kiss. '' There's no one else I would rather go with. '' kissing him again, he wrapped his hands around your waist, lifting you up from the ground making it easier for him to kiss you with the slight height difference between you two.
But of course, it had to come to an end, because a certain redhead twin decided to mess with you guys. '' Oy Diggory, get a room '' he laughed, but he was hit in his arm by our lovely friend Evangeline '' Don't be a pain in the ass Weasley, leave them alone. '' She rolled her eyes before giving you two an apologetic look and walking away. '' Ouch '' he responded, but before he even realized she was already at least six feet away from him. '' Evie, don't leave me with them. '' he ran after her, making you roll your eyes at him being desperate for Evangeline's attention. '' He's so whipped but so dumb. '' you shook your head at Cedric, making him laugh '' Ah young love, so innocent and sweet. '' He put you back down on the ground, before grabbing your hand, heading back towards the castle, seeing your free period is done, and now you had charms while he had transfiguration. '' Good luck baby, I'll see you after the class. '' he gave you a small peck on the lips before you two separated.
Soon it was the end of the day, everyone was done with classes, the only ones left who ended up in detention. You were sitting in the common room, wearing Cedric's quidditch jumper, reading your muggle book about some teenage drama when you felt a pair of arms softly wrapping around your shoulders, and lips softly on your neck. '' For your own sake, I hope it's you Ced '' of course you knew it was him, his touch always made you feel a certain way you just couldn't put into words. '' Are you wearing my jumper? '' he asked, mumbling against your neck. '' Yeah, I was a bit cold, so I decided to grab one, with the help of one of your roommates. '' placing your book down, you grabbed Cedric's face into your hands gently, placing your lips onto his. '' Hi. '' you say softly, a smile playing on your lips. Jumping over the couch, he sat next to you, pulling you closer into his side. Tilting your head, he started slowly sucking onto your neck, making sure he leaves a mark. Biting your lip you try to suppress your moans, not wanting to bring attention to yourselves. '' Keep quiet or someone will hear '' he whispered '' it's not my fault you choose to mark me in the place where everyone can come and see us any second '' you rolled your eyes, he pulled away from your neck, and he was now whispering in your ear '' Oh? Would you rather for us to go somewhere more private to finish this? Is that what you're implying? Such a bad girl '' goosebumps were all over your body. '' Don't be such a tease, if you're so confident as you're saying, be a man and show me your best. '' you said to him, smirk playing on your lips. '' That's a dangerous territory you're heading towards y/n, are you sure you want to go there? '' He raised his eyebrows, his eyes were now a darker shade. '' Do your worst, Diggory. '' and before you even had a chance, he picked you up in his arms, going towards his dorm. '' You have no idea what you're about to get yourself in, love. ''

Summary: You and James are Quidditch rivals. You're Quidditch captain and he's Quidditch captain, it only makes sense, right? But what if there's maybe something else fueling your hatred?
Warnings: Injuries and kissing. Lmk if there's anything else
I wrote this all in one go, 1:30 am so if there's any mistakes please don't mind them, and lmk.
Hey! if you think this didn't completely suck, feel free to check out my masterlist.
"Hey, Diggory! watch out!" I scream as loudly as I can over the shouts of the crowds, while Amos barely registers my warning before he notices a bludger flying his way. His eyes widen and its only a second before he gets knocked off his broom and down to the ground hurtling at a great speed, with how fast he was going no one was going to be able to catch him.
I hear him thud to the ground and I hear madam Hootch call a time out while I zoom to reach him. I throw my broom to ground and drop to my knees. Amos is moaning on the ground in pain. He's got a hand over his chest, and I can only assume that he has at least a few broken ribs.
Several other players are coming off their brooms to check on the injured player. The rest of my teammates, the Hufflepuff team, come down and fuss over Amos. Madam Promfrey enters the field and shoos everyone from around him. I look around and I notice the person who was the cause of all of this.
"What the hell, Jordan?" I shout and the Gryffindor, who's looking guiltily at Amos while a few of my teammates help lift him up. Jordan opens his mouth to reply, but gets interrupted when someone steps in front of him to reply instead, "Calm down, Y/L/N. That's just the way the game works."
"Shut up, Potter." I say, then turning to madam Hootch, "That's an obvious foul, he's not allowed to do that." madam Hootch doesn't get to say anything before, once again Potter interrupts. I swear to Merlin that boy has no manners. He says, "It's not a foul, that's just the game, and if you don't think you can handle it then just quit."
"Why would I quit when I'm the best damn chaser in this school?"
"You're obviously more of an idiot than I thought you were if you think that you're the best chaser." Potter folds his arms and he looks at me with a smirk, the most annoying one I've ever seen in my whole life, if I might add. I lunge at him, but Amelia holds me back.
Potter only smirks more, and I narrow my eyes at him trying not to scowl. I turn back to whisper something to Smith, my team's beater, "Aim for Potter."
"There will be no aiming for anyone, miss Y/L/N. The match will not be continuing." madam Hootch announces, and my mouth drops at the news and I hear Potter gasp. I ask, "Why not?"
I heard another voice saying the words with me, so I turn to Potter to give him a glare. He only gives me a glare back before we turn to madam Hootch. She sighs, "There are only half the players there are supposed to be in the field. Half of each of you're teams are injured. We'll reschedule the game."
I huff, and madam Hootch puts her wand to her throat to announce the news to the crowds, they all groan in disappointment and start clearing out. I grab my broom from the ground and start marching back into the castle on my way to the hospital wing.
What's left of my team follow me to wing to check up on the rest of the team. Amos has already been put on the bed, and madam Pomfrey is pacing around the room going from one injured Quidditch player to another. I head over to Amos, and ask, "Are you okay?"
"I've been better." He groans, as madam Pomfrey hands him a glass of Skelegro. She tuts as Amos gags on the drink, and she frowns. I cautiously ask, "So, what's the damage?"
"You're not going to be able to play for a month." She says, and I gasp. She continues, "For the past year, every time there's a Hufflepuff and Gryffindor match most of the players end up here with me. Now, I'd expect this behavior from Gryffindors, but you, wouldn't have guessed in a million years."
I feel the guilt starting to fill me. I did push the players to take risks, but I never expected this to go this far. Amos finishes the cup and he nearly gags again before madam Pomfrey shoots him a glare. He says, "Maybe it's time, for the sake of team of course, that you forgive him..."
"No, absolutely not. It's one thing to toy with the team when it comes to Quidditch, but it's another when he manipulates my feelings into doing so." I say, and I head over the other players. I'm checking on Boot's broken leg when I hear the sound of it, the sound of his stupid strutting.
He goes to survey his team and no doubt madam Pomfrey is telling him about the whole not playing for a month thing because I hear his loud gasp from all the way across the hospital wing. I roll my eyes, and Boot gives me a look. I mumble, "Shut up, Boot."
He lifts his arms up, surrendering and then I feel an arm wrap around my shoulder. I already know who it is, having done this three times already. I shove his arms off me and he pouts, "What's wrong, love? We're off the pitch, shouldn't we put our claws away?"
"Leave, Potter." I say, irritated obviously, and Amos opens his curtain from beside his bed so he's able to see the interaction. Corner does the same thing from the other side of Boot's bed, and despite the look I give to both of them, they keep watching. Potter says, "Why would I do that when you're here?"
His friends, Lupin and Black enter the hospital wing and he lifts up a finger to me, signaling that he'll be back before he goes off to them. I fold my arms over my chest, and I see Boot looking at me. I huff, "What?"
"I heard he just asked her out to make Amos jealous." Boot says, and Amos flushes. This morning, Potter asked out Evans in front of the Great Hall. Half of Hogwarts' population were looking at her for the reply while the other half was looking at me for a reaction. I pretended like nothing of interest was happening, but Amelia already had a supportive hand on my leg. She said yes, and they'll be going out tomorrow.
"Why would I care about that piece of information? You should be taking to Amos he's the one who's got his crush going out on a date." I say, avoiding my teammates' eyes. Boot replies, "Yes, but your crush is the one that asked her out."
"I don't know what you're talking about." I reply and I feel like I've had enough. I did know what he was talking about. Last year, the day before we left for summer break, I spilled about my crush on Potter to Amelia and the girl can't keep her mouth shut for two seconds, shouted it back out loud in the Great Hall. I thought that everyone would forget by the time that we went back to school last september, and almost everyone did.
However, only two days before Quidditch season started, Potter himself, asked me out. I couldn't believe it at first, knowing how much he used to babble on about Evans all the time. Then out of the corner of my eye, I notice a few certain people from the Gryffindor table looking at us eagerly, I recognize those few people as the Quidditch team. Of course, I said no, but I couldn't say that I wasn't hurt.
Croner's injury was in his shoulder and since he could eavesdrop on us so easily I'd assume that it's fine by now. I head out of the hospital wing, and back to my dorm for a shower.
~~~
Without Quidditch practice, I realize that I have a lot more time on my hands. It made me realize how much I suck at my regular subjects. I wasn't planning on using them anyway, I wanted to be a professional Quidditch player, so acing charms wasn't really on my agenda. I had a quiz tomorrow and when I finally lost hope of passing, I went to my favorite place, the kitchens.
The elves were always so nice and eager to please. The place was just a few steps away from my common room which meant that I could go whenever I want and not having to worry about getting caught by any Prefects.
I was eating a muffin while doodling some plays that might be beneficial for when we get back to playing. The door opens and Wigby rushes to greet whoever came. To my displeasure, Potter enters. He beams when he sees me, and I groan at his horribly disguised acting, as if he'd want to actually see me without an ulterior motive.
"What you've got there?" he asks, looking down at my paper, and I flip it over quickly, remembering that these are the team's plays. I huff, "None of your business, and what are you doing here anyways, it's after curfew."
"I could ask you the same thing." He says, and I roll my eyes when he hops on the counter beside me. I look away from him, but I can feel his gaze burning the side of my neck. He asks, "What would you recommend? You seem to be here a lot."
"I recommend you getting out." I say, and he chuckles at my reply though I don't get what's funny. Wigby comes to me and asks, "Do you need another muffin miss?"
"Yes Wigby that would be great." I smile and she turns to Potter and he says, "I'll have one of the muffins that she's having."
"Shouldn't you go to bed? You must be tired" I say before I can stop myself, as soon as Wigby leaves. He looks confused, and he scrunches up his face the way he always does when he's confused, it's the look he has all throughout potions. He asks, "Why would I be tired?"
"Because you had a date this morning." I reply like it's obvious and finally look at him. He chuckles and then shakes his head. Wigby hands over the muffins in a plate and he grabs one before saying, "Oh no, I didn't. Lily just wanted me to ask her out to make Diggory jealous."
So Boot was right, he's always the one who has all the gossip. I grab a bite swallow slowly, and then say, "Oh, well, I'm sorry."
"Why?"
"Because you like her, it mustn't feel good to help her get another guy." I explain and I look away from him. He gulps down the rest of the muffin and I wonder how he can eat so fast. He clears his throat, "Lily? No, I don't like her, not anymore. I was just trying to get back in her good graces after last year..."
He trails off and I already know what he's talking about. At the end of fifth year, Potter, Black, Lupin and Snape got into a big fight, and Lily got caught in the crossfire. It's all everyone talked about for days.
I don't say anything because I don't know what to say. There's a silence between us that I can't pinpoint if it's heavy or comfortable. He shuffles beside me, before he asks, "Now that we won't be playing for a while, would you like to go out with me?"
My blood goes cold, and I lose my appetite. I place my half eaten muffin back on the plate and I brush off the crumbs from my hands and jeans. I mumble, "I can't believe this."
"What?" He asks, confused again. I hop off of the kitchen island and I thank Widgby. I make my way to the door. He rushes after me and says, "Where are you going?"
"Away from you." I say, and I shut the door behind me, he catches it before it closes and he follows me. Maybe I can reach the common room before he does anything as audacious. He asks, "Why? I just asked a question-well technically two, but-"
"Why couldn't you just drop this?" I stop in my tracks, and turn to him with a glare. He stops as well and looks at me shocked. I have my finger lifted to his chest accusingly and he asks, "Drop what?"
"Acting as if you like me, when you're just trying to use me for Quidditch." I say, and he looks confused again. Merlin, he is not a good actor. I continue, "It's one thing to use your pranks to sabotage the team, but it's another to try and use my feelings as a means to get to that."
"I'm not-"
I scoff, and I don't let him finish before I storm off again. He jogs after me and attaches a hand to my wrist to stop me from going. He reasons, "I would never use anyone's feelings like that. I actually want to go out with you-"
"Please, and those feelings suddenly appeared for the first time two days before Quidditch season." I say, and he has that look in his eye look all the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. He says, "So that's why you said no- I- I didn't even notice that Quidditch season was starting- well I did, but not in a way that correlates to me asking you out."
"It just took me so long to pluck up the courage to ask you out-"
"So I guess that's why you're whole team was looking at us." I say with anger. He stays calm and explains, "They all knew I liked you, that's why they were looking, they wanted to see how it would go."
"You really think I'm that stupid to believe this." I huff, and shove my arm out of his grip. I started walking away, and I feel relief as I see the common room getting closer and closer. He shouts while still walking faster to get to me, "I really do like you."
"Bullshit!" I shout, before he once again, grabs my wrist to hold me close to him. I only get a second to register what's going on before he pulls me close to his chest and crashes his lips to mine. He cups my face and holds me. My hands stay at my sides while my heart races.
He breaks away when he realizes that I wasn't reciprocating the kiss. He puts his arms down. He sighs then says, "I promise I wouldn't ever use your feelings against you like that. I like you."
He looks sincere. I don't say anything, and I see his cheeks turn a tinge of pink. In a way, he looks sort of defeated and maybe that's what makes me believe him. He stutters, "I'm sorry that I kissed you like that-"
I stand up on tip toes and reach up to wrap my arms around his neck. I cut him off by placing my lips on his. He doesn't waste a second in placing both hands on my waist. He pulls me flush against him, and for a split second I feel like I might faint from how fast my heart is going.
A bright light flashing into my eye, causes me to break away from him. Two prefects are looking at us with shocked expressions. I try to move away from James, but he pulls me closer. I acknowledge that this is how it's going to be like from now on. One of them turns to the other and says, "I told you I heard something."
The other one rolls his eyes and lowers his wand that was blinding me. He sighs, "You two have detention tomorrow, now, go to your common rooms."
Bonus:
I sit at the table for breakfast and already start piling food into my plate, I wasn't ready to fail today's quiz at all, and I definitely wasn't ready for my detention. I start munching on some of my eggs and that's when I see my teammates all looking at me with identical smirks.
I swallow my food and look at them all, weirded out by the fact they were watching me. I ask, "What's made me so interesting all of a sudden?"
"Boot said that he heard that you've got detention tonight." Amelia starts, and everyone's grins widen when I nod my head. Boot himself continued this time, "I heard it's because you were out after curfew snogging Potter."
I flush and pick at my food with a fork. Where does Boot get all this information from. Amos points a finger to my face and teases, "Oh, Look! She's blushing."
I wonder if I can kick Amos off the team right now, I'm sure that I'll find a better seeker somewhere else in Hufflepuff. I scowl at him and blush more. I stutter, "You need to find a new way to get information because that's a complete lie. I wouldn't-"
Luck is always on my side because just at that moment someone slides between me and Amelia, wrapping and arm around my shoulder. Making my friends' grins wider. James presses a kiss to my cheek and says, "Good morning, love."
He had overheard at dinner about the description and, or feeling of the word yellow from a random muggle born seated at the Gryffindor table.
As he heard the clarification of the unfamiliar use of the word, his eyes unconsciously trailed to the face that was gleaming with laughter at the Hufflepuff table. He didn’t feel the smile that was itching its way onto his face; it was, however, there and apparent.
He ignored the questioning that he got from his bushy-haired and red haired friends asking for the cause of his sudden rush of joy and his turned up lip corners. They were both too absorbed in the new charms lesson and the turkey leg to notice. If they had listened to the overly loud conversation that their fellow Gryffindors were having and followed his line of sight they wouldn’t have needed to inquire of anything; and he wouldn’t have been brought out from his almost starting day-dream.
It seemed that they had done precisely that when they donned identical smirks and Ron gave him a teasing nudge. “You should tell her, you know.” Hermione said after a few seconds.
He gave her a raised eyebrow in question and she continued with her eyes rolled “About your feelings, Harry.” She had assumed that he was being intentionally oblivious, but that was just how he usually was when it came to girls and feelings. He flushed, turning his head and gaze from them and to his untouched plate. He was too busy admiring to eat and he realised -from the growl his stomach gave- that he was in fact hungry. So he put a large spoon of food in his mouth; to satisfy his hunger and to also avoid the questioning and lectures he was about to receive from his friends.
“Someone that makes you happy, full of hope and never fails to make you smile.” That’s what Harry heard from the conversation but what he concluded was that your ‘yellow’ is just simply “Someone you can’t live without.”
***
The first time Harry met her was when Professor McGonnagal was announcing the Yule Ball. Everyone already started dancing with someone including Ron who was trying not to step on Hermione’s foot. He was tapping his foot on the floor anxiously and looking around nervously. A hand was held out to him and he saw a pretty girl holding her hand out for him, she mentioned for him to dance with her and he obliged.
He was dancing rather awkwardly and kept stepping on her feet muttering multiple sorrys, she kept saying it was fine every time he apologised it seemed that she was taking this situation much more humorously than he was. He couldn’t quite get over the fact that the most beautiful person he’s ever seen was getting trampled by him and his poor attempt at dancing.
When he tried to twirl her he ended up twisting her feet together causing her to almost fall but he caught her by her wrist. His face turned an even brighter red as he said “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I don’t know how to do this, you should go find another person to dance with-” He cut himself off when he heard her burst out with laughter, and even though he was confused a light bubble formed in his stomach.
“I’m sorry.” She said after she finished laughing, holding her stomach. “It’s just- you’re taking this wayyy too seriously.” She let out a sigh at the end of her sentence. He had just noticed that the hand that wasn’t gripping her stomach was still in his hand.
He quickly let go of her wrist, and she probably noticed that so her face was decorated with a sweet, soft smile. She held her hand out and said “Y/n Y/L/N” He was reluctant to shake her hand for one reason, out of how sweaty he thinks his hands are from his nervousness.
He took her hand hesitantly and cautiously as he added “Harry Potter.” She shook his hand with one firm shake and then put both her hands on her hips saying, “well Harry, I think we should try this again.” He nodded looking at everyone around him trying to adjust his dancing position and posture.
They danced for a while and he only stepped on her feet a couple more times, he said with the same self diminishing tone “You really should find another person to dance with. I’m horrible at this.” He tried to step away but she kept her grip on his shoulder firm and she said “You’re not horrible, you’re doing much better than a lot of other people here, look.”
He looked at where she tilted her head and there were in fact several other people tripping on their feet, some were even on the floor. He let out a chuckle at the disastrous scene and how McGonnagal was shaking her head at her house.
A thought burst out in his head as he looked at the girl, eyebrows furrowed and said “How come I’ve never seen you in Gryffindor tower?” She looked at the Weasley twins and she laughed slightly. He was confused and as soon as he looked at them Fred sent him a wink, and moved his eyes between him and her. Harry’s cheeks gained a red tint for what seemed like the millionth time that day.
“Maybe because I’m not supposed to be at Gryffindor tower.” She said in a matter of factly and teasing tone. His eyebrows regained their furrow and she explained “I’m a Hufflepuff.” Before Harry could ask how she got here she tilted her head to Fred and George and he needed no further explanation.
When the dancing lesson was finished and lunch was about to start Harry decided to just walk quietly beside her while she walked to lunch. He hoped she didn’t mind his presence since he for some reason wasn’t ready to leave her’s. He didn’t know why he felt that way, but judging by how she wasn’t pushing him away, he assumed she didn’t mind. He tried to ascertain the cause of his unexpected dependency on this girl. It has taken him multiple years to be assured by the words his friends say, and for him to welcome and look forward to their presence. He has been struck by shock, from how his body was naturally gravitating towards her’s; and he put a stop to the abnormal feeling. He didn’t want to seem weird.
When they reached the Great Hall they stopped right in front of the door, and he felt a sense of dread. He looked at her when she clapped her hand and spun on her heels to face him, “Well Harry, I best be off. See you around.”
When she started to walk to the Hufflepuff table, he called out “Wait!” She turned around with a sweet smile on her face that made his heart want to jump; and said “Yes?”
Nervously, He searched for a reason to make her spend more time with him. He hadn’t thought his plan through at all and barely made it through after calling out ‘wait!’. He looked around in a way he thought was discreet, but she was internally laughing at his attempt to look casual -he didn’t know that thankfully- His eyes trailed to her outfit and he saw that she was wearing Gryffindor robes.
“Well, you’re wearing Gryffindor robes; Why stop at just dance practice? Why don’t you have lunch at the Gryffindor table too?” He said trying to look smart and casual. Her smile increased and changed into a teasing one, and she tilted her head slightly, “Do you want to spend time with me Harry?”
His face regained its flush and he avoided her gaze. She started walking inside the Great Hall and he kept thinking that he messed up whatever was happening, and then she stopped, “Aren’t you coming?” He looked up at her surprised and asked “Where?”
She rolled her eyes but the smile never left her lips “To the Gryffindor table, of course. Merlin Harry! No wonder you weren’t sorted in Ravenclaw.” His cheeks couldn’t get a break from how red they were, he walked beside her and then she nudged his shoulder slightly and said “I think it’s cute.” If Harry wasn’t too occupied with this new type of feeling he would’ve noticed the slight blush on her face.
***
The feeling was new to him at the time, he didn’t feel it with Cho and neither with Hermione. He knew he liked Cho but saw Hermione as a sister; so what else is there to feel? He realised that he was exceedingly stupid with his feelings last year and before. He looked at her face again and thought of the last DA meeting today before Christmas.
When the DA started she ran in and gave him a big hug and reciprocated it with much more force than she did. They hadn’t seen each other for a week except for a few moments because she’s been studying with Hermione, and he missed her much more than he liked to admit. They were interrupted by someone clearing their throat.
Fred and George smirked at them teasingly, bringing a blush to his cheeks and then Fred said “We can leave the room if you want.” She unwrapped her arms from around his neck and went to Neville, giving him a similar greeting and He felt a weird feeling bubble in his stomach; so he started the DA lesson.
When the lesson finished she came up to him and said “I’ll wait for you outside Harry.” He nodded with a small smile and then went to Cho who was waiting by the mirror. It all went in Harry’s head like this,
Crying,
Talking,
More talking,
Mistletoe,
Lips,
Kiss;
and door opening.
She stood there with the usual smile that always undertakes her face, non-existent and he couldn’t fathom the unfamiliar look. “Um sorry, I’ll leave you two alone.” She said in a type of way Harry’s never seen or heard from her before, and she left quickly.
He looked at Cho and he was put back into the moment that he was previously in. He didn’t like the kiss. “Cho. Listen, I’m sorry but-”
“I’m in love with her.” She said shortly and looked away with a speck of hurt in her eyes. “What?” he asked confused, cheeks slightly red. “You’re in love with her. I thought so and everyone knows so; but I thought I had a chance.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He said with a now obvious blush on his face. She started walking out the door and placed her hand on the door knob, saying in a small voice that He could barely hear “Reevaluate your feelings, Harry. I think you’ll find a new conclusion.”
He was on his way to the Gryffindor tower in confusion, trying to think over what Cho said. Sure she was pretty, smart and funny. She was great, she was his best friend; he wasn’t in love with her.
Then again he couldn’t control how his heart flutters when he sees her. It was all platonic, he told himself; but there was still a part of him that was screaming at him” YOU’RE IN LOVE YOU IDIOT, WHO ELSE MAKES YOU FEEL THE WAY SHE DOES. WHO ELSE MADE YOU FEEL LIKE THE WORLD WAS OKAY AND EVERYTHING’S GOING TO BE FINE WHEN CEDRIC WAS JUST KILLED. SHE MAKES YOU SMILE YOU GIT, HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE YOU MET CAN JUST MAKE YOU SMILE WITH THEIR PRESENCE.”
His loud vexatious thoughts were interrupted by the sound of sniffling. He followed the sound of muffled cries, and he saw a familiar Hufflepuff robe wrapped around a body he’s been tied to before. Her knees were to her shoulders and her head in between her legs as she cried heavily.
At the sound of his footsteps, she lifted her head up from her knees looking at him and quickly wiping her tears away “Harry. What are you doing here?” She choked out.
“Are you okay?” He asked cautiously as he stepped near her slowly; it was the first time he’s seen her cry even though she’s seen him cry multiple times before, somehow this felt worse. She let out a dry but in some way soft laugh as she said “Merlin Harry! You really aren’t a Ravenclaw.” She still found his stupidity cute and she cursed herself for it; he doesn’t love her. For Merlin's sake he just kissed another girl.
He chuckled softly at the familiar words, and sat beside her on the window bench. He placed his hand in her’s and pulled her to his side, and hugged her tightly. She couldn’t help but cry even more, she was crying in the arms of the guy that made her cry because she loved him and he only saw her as a friend.
They stayed wrapped in each other's arms that night, and his heart broke multiple times every time she began crying. He tried to ask her multiple times what was making her this sad but she always said that it wasn’t important, then he’d say it’s important to me; but she wouldn’t answer and he’d try again. They stayed there until the sun lit up the sky and they were woken up by a Slytherin that was going to the library before class.
***
It was past midnight when Harry was greeted by her worried face asking “What’s wrong? What happened?” His heart plummeted and flew when he saw her. He saw her, he’s happy; she’s worried, he’s worried. Her eyes skimmed Dumbledore’s office filled with the Weasleys, Dumbledore, Professor McGonnagal and several talking portraits that were chattering about what occurred; and they found his own as they always did -or at least he hoped so-
She went up to him still wearing her PJs and hugged him tightly, and he wrapped his arms around her waist. He breathed slowly and tried to calm himself down; and surely after several seconds the worry, anger and hurting feeling in his head were slowly starting to wash away. “What are you doing here?” He asked, pulling away from her embrace and cupping her face. If he wasn’t in the state that he was currently in then his reaction to cupping her face would be more different.
“The portraits were told by Ron to wake me up and go to Dumbledore’s office. So I’m here; What happened?” She replied and asked, holding his hand that was resting on his face.
“All will be told when you reach Grimmauld Place 12.” Dumbledore said and started saying orders to everyone, he also got out a portkey and all the Weasleys used it to head to Grimmauld Place 12. “Come on Harry.” Dumbledore urged him to use the portkey that he previously hadn’t used with the rest because of his hold on her hand.
Harry tightened his grip on her hand, and then she looked between Harry and Dumbledore saying, “Is there any way for me to go there, Professor?” Dumbledore nodded and they both used the portkey together. Harry couldn’t care at the moment that he looked like a child, holding her hand and not letting it go; but how could he let go of her when she solaced him. He also thought of how brave she was going to a place she doesn’t know of just because he needed her there with him. His heart lifts.
It was a strange thing for him that only a few nights ago she was the one in his arms seeking comfort and now he’s holding onto her as his only source of sanity from Voldemort’s plague in his mind.
All throughout Christmas he kept falling for this girl more and more. He loved her. He loved her laugh, her nose, her smile, her personality and he loved her lips; and he wanted to kiss them badly. All throughout Christmas he was reminded of her, and he spent almost every moment with her. It was his favourite Christmas despite its beginning.
Fred and George had left school. He was standing with everyone around him in an abandoned classroom, He had to save Sirius. “Alright everyone, there's no time to lose, let's go.” She said, and his eyebrows furrowed.
“You’re not going.” He said to her with a firm voice, she stopped walking towards the door and let out a humourless laugh as she said “I’m going.” Everyone other than the two of them left the room trying to find the Thestrals not wanting to get involved with the situation.
“No you’re not.”
“Says who.” She said with her arms crossed.
“Says me, and you’re not going. You could get hurt.” He said, and crossed his arms mirroring her actions. She took a step towards him and stood on her tiptoes to increase her height trying to look more intimidating. “So could you.”
“Yeah but I don’t want to lose you.” He said, voice raising slightly. “Same here.” She said not backing down. He walked in front of her and said “You can’t come because I can’t put you in a situation where you could die.”
“First of all, You wouldn’t be putting me anywhere. It's my decision and you don't want me to get hurt but you’re completely fine with you dying.” She looked furious, every time she was angry there was still a light undertone of humour in her; but this time he couldn’t find it.
“You are not going! You can’t change my opinion.”
“Well it’s a good thing I don’t need your opinion.” She said stepping really close to him, and she continued; voice louder than his. “Everyone else is going, why are you letting them go?!”
“Because I’m not in love with everyone else. I’m in love with you.” He said angrily, not thinking this through. He’s always had horrible timing but now his timing was beyond the roof and quite impeccable, so he kissed her. Furiously, passionately and hungirly. The kiss didn’t get as heated as it could have when she pulled away from his forehead resting on his. “I need you to stay here for me, because I know I can’t think straight without knowing you’re okay. I need you to stay here and be safe, because when I come back I want to kiss you for the longest time.”
She let out a sigh and said “Fine but just because you told me you love me.” He couldn’t resist the urge to place another kiss on her lips and then go out of the class running to go to the Ministry of Magic.
***
When he came back, he was numb; completely numb. Sirius died, and he now had no family. He was led to the Black Lake by her, because he wanted to be alone but alone with her.
He laid on the grass with his body intertwined with her. His arms were loosely wrapped around her middle and his head on his chest, and her chin was on top of his head while still wounding her fingers through his unkempt but soft hair. He waited for the -usual- effects of her even breathing and steady heartbeat to kick in; for his body to match the habits of her’s.
No tears have been shed by him since his screams at the ministry. He didn’t want to talk about what happened and she knew that; he would tell her at some point and she knew that as well. At the moment the only thing he desired was to lay in her arms forever. “Is it true?” She asked while the flowers nodded around them from the light breeze. “What you said? Before you left.”
She was nervous, he noticed from the way her hands started to fidget with his hair instead of playing with it. He lifted his head up to look into her beautiful eyes and he let out a happy sigh with a large smile. “You have no idea how much I adore you.” Her cheeks turned red and she placed her lips on his. It was slow and soft, and full of love. He could feel his heart mending.
Being a hufflepuff was a dream come true. Everyone was accepting in it, noone would judge you based on your blood status or if you have money or not. So becoming one of most known/popular hufflepuffs wasn't that much difficult since you were so lovely to everyone. Yeah you can be passive aggresive sometimes but that's what everyone liked about you, you were always upfront with everyone, made them feel at ease knowing you will always tell people how you feel about certain things. But what they didn't know is it's the irony in how you deal with crushes. Elijah Sullivan was one the first guys you had crush on. Every time you would be around that certain hufflepuff you feel blood rushing to your face and be lost at words. But realising he was kind of an asshole, your crush on him soon faded out. Everyone always said Cedric and you would be a good couple since you were both one of the most loved hufflepuffs. But the thing was, somehow both of you never actually met officially. Yes you've seen him in the common room or in some of the classes you shared, but you're nothing more than acquaintances. But that changed in the fifth year when under weird circumstances faith brought you two together. You were sitting under a tree next to the black lake, reading your book and chatting with your friends when someone decided to play a prank on you. Before you had even a chance to see anything or to react, someone picked you up and threw you right into the black lake. What that person didn't know is, you were not the best swimmer, so naturally what you did was start panicking. Panic and anxiety took over your brain, making you unable to swim back up. Suddenly a pair of arms wrapped around your waist and pulled you back up. Person who saved you, picked you up in their arms and took you back to the grass, where your friends were. Opening your eyes you saw so many pairs of worried eyes, including the ones you didn't expect. Cedric was holding your arm and slowly glading your hair, whispering soothing words. He was the one who saved you. '' You're safe now, I'm here '' you only nodded, still in shock from almost drowning. '' Thank you Cedric '' you said almost in a whisper. He gave you a reasurring smile, before your friends decided to take you to Madam Pomfrey to help you recover from the shock and to warm you up.
A few days later, it was a quidditch match. It was Gryffindor against Hufflepuff. You were sitting with all your friends, who were all cheering loudly for Cedric, which he heard making him chuckle. Everything was going great until Harry, the Gryffindor seeker was suddenly attacked by the dementor, without knowing what was going on with Harry in the meanwhile Cedric caught the snitch, making the Hufflepuff's win. While the Gryffindor's rushed back inside, you climbed down, deciding to go congratulate Cedric on winning and catching the snitch. Feeling a small tap on his shoulder, Cedric turned around. When he saw that it was you, a smile appeared on his face. '' Hey, y/n, right? '' '' Yeah, but you can call me y/n/n like everyone else. '' you offered him a smile. '' I just wanted to congratulate you on winning and catching the snitch. And to thank you for saving me the other day from almost drowning. '' an even bigger smile was now on his face. '' Thank you, even though I still feel like we should do a rematch, but it's fine. And don't worry about it, I'm just glad I was able to save you. Couldn't let the famous y/n die before we officially introduce ourselves. '' a small chuckle left his lips, making you roll your eyes playfully, before he continued. '' Hey I was wondering if you'd maybe like to go to Hogsmeade with me, I would love to get to know you a bit more? '' a frown replaced the smile on your face. '' I already promised Oliver that we would go together, but the next one if you're still free then, I would love to. '' he nodded his head. '' Sure, should've known it wouldn't be that easy to take out miss popular '' he teased. '' I'll see you later, Cedric. '' and with that you left him, not even knowing he had the biggest and goofiest smile on his face which was caused by you. He was disappointed in you going out with Oliver, but surely it's just because he really wanted to get to know you, not because he's jealous, right? Or at least that's what he was convincing himself. It was Hogsmeade weekend, and you were excited about going with Oliver. You always found him attractive, especially during the quidditch where he would focus only on winning the game, which you found extremely attractive. You decided to meet next to the carriage and go together to Three Broomsticks, since you both agreed that Madam Pudifoot's is not the place where both you want to go for the first date. Everything was amazing. You were both joking around and just enjoying yourselves. It was time now that we had to end your date. We were holding hands when he looked you in the eyes. '' Can I kiss you? '' he asked softly, you nodded, and he placed his lips on yours. The kiss was short and sweet, the kind that leaves you yearning for more and butterflies in your stomach. What you didn't see is Cedric being heartbroken when he saw you kissing Oliver. That's when he realized even though you two have been nothing more than acquaintances, he still somehow managed to develop a crush on you in this small period of knowing you officially.
Weeks have passed since your date with Oliver and you two were nothing official yet, still just dating. Which also gave you the opportunity to get to know Cedric more, realizing you know very little about the man who saved you. You got to know that he's the only child of his parents even though they wanted to have more they just didn't succeed at it. He was the pride and joy of his parents. His zodiac sign is a libra, he loves listening to Abba, which made you laugh when he told you that. What made you close to him is how understanding he is. He always made sure to tell you how you're doing amazing, making sure to acknowledge your love language. He would help you study if you had trouble understanding a certain lesson or something. It's been perfect, honestly. So what you didn't expect is to overhear his conversation with one of your friends. You didn't know who they were talking about, so you hid and tried to listen, deep down knowing it's wrong, but curiosity got the better out of you.
'' Ced you're acting weird about this. Ever since their date, you've been weird. What's going on? '' Cedric took a deep breath, running his long fingers through his soft dark hair. You didn't know what came over you when you wished you could run your fingers through his hair. Shrugging off that thought, you focused on listening to what they're saying.
'' They don't belong with him! '' he raised his tone, almost yelling. ' 'Then who do they belong with? '' your friend asked, raising her eyebrow at him. He was silent for a few seconds before he finally answered her. '' With me. Y/N belongs with me. There I said it. I want them to be with me. '' a loud gasp left your mouth, and before you could cover it and try to hide even more, they already heard you, looking right in your direction, where they saw you. Your friend only smirked, before giving him a small pat on the shoulder, leaving you two alone. '' Y/N...'' he began, but you interrupted him before he could finish his sentence. '' Did you mean it? What you just said? '' he approached you with careful steps before placing his hands on both sides of your face, making you look directly into his eyes. '' Every word I said, I meant it. I can't stand seeing you with Oliver, when I know you belong with me. You're everything I've ever wanted and more. '' he was smiling. '' But if you don't feel the same about me, just forget this conversation ever happened…'' you placed your hands on top of his '' Cedric, please shut up for a second. Your confession made me realize that I do have feelings for you. I actually really like you. But before we do anything, I need to break off things with Oliver, so please be patient with me while I deal with him. '' You gave him a light kiss on his cheek before parting away from him, heading towards Gryffindor common room, to end things with Oliver no matter how sweet he was in these few weeks you two have been seeing each other. Everything went smoothly with Oliver, he even said he should've expected it, but there were no harsh feelings, deciding on staying friends. After that, you ran to the Hufflepuff common room, to go find Cedric. He was sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace, talking with his friends. Smiling, you quickly approached him, grabbing him by his face and finally kissing him before he even had a chance to react. Everyone was cheering for you, and you could feel Cedric smiling into the kiss. Slowly parting from you, with a smile on his face, he got up, picked you up and twirled you around, making you laugh. '' So does that mean you'll officially be mine? '' smiling, you nod your head. '' Only if you'll have me. '' both of you laughed. '' Darling, I'd have you in every lifetime if I could. ''
