Brozone was hug deprived!

Okay, so I've seen the idea of hug-time bracelets being a recent invention to deal with the whole Bergen thing. The fact that Branch and his brothers weren't wearing them during their 'perfect family harmony' concert is good evidence.

But then I went back and watched the concert flashback scene, and you know what? Brozone aren't wearing bracelets, but EVERYONE ELSE IS!!!

If you watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwpNYClDhj8 you'll see that every troll in the audience is wearing a hug-time bracelet. The concert staff are as well. I couldn't find good pictures for that, but at 0:05 you can just make out a bracelet the same color as the staff members skin and at 4:02 a bracelet is clearly visible on another staff member.

The simplest explanation would be that the boys didn't want their bracelets going off while they were singing, so they took them off. But I feel like it's more than that.

Even after the concert, going home, the brothers don't wear any bracelets. And it can't be that they didn't bother/have time to change/switch to normal outfits, because Floyd has gone from white pants + puff vest to white one piece + leaf vest.

And still no bracelets.

And there is ONE other person without a bracelet. Rosiepuff

It's a little harder to see, but she never wears a hug-time bracelet in any movie scene she's in.

So what does that imply? It seems like the Brozone family just doesn't practice hug-time. And yet every other troll shown, in scenes and background, does.

We already have implications that Rosiepuff is a bit of a hands off, casual caretaker, with the way she just lets four of her NOT FULLY GROWN (see earlier theory post about JD) grandchildren just walk out the door to who knows where!

I think the lack of hug-time bracelets among her family is HER doing. And it did (unintended) subtle, psychological damage to those kids.

Pop trolls are naturally affectionate. They have a social system that makes it hard to maintain anger/grudges. Hug time enforces closeness, and gives an outlet to a natural craving for physical affection. But Brozone was denied this. Probably they got plenty of hugs when with friends/in public, but at home? Nada. Especially with the social understanding that you ONLY hug during hug-time, for the most part.

So every argument, every conflict with each other, went unresolved. Driving them further apart. The main adult in their lives? Distant, not someone to confide in. Pop trolls don't SHOW negative emotions, not in the way we would.

This becomes a big reason why Branch is so standoffish. It's not just trauma, it's trauma reinforced by learned familial distancing!

However, I don't think that invalidates my theory, but reinforces it.

See, Rosiepuff still ISN'T wearing one when she saves him. She still doesn't have it for herself. But she saw the consequences it had on her grandkids and tried to fix it, not using it herself, but providing Branch with hugs when HIS went off. Maybe she has arthritis that makes regular hugging painful or something. She didn't mean to hurt her family, and tried to correct after seeing the damage.

But Brozone still grew up hug deprived at home. Still had the subconscious lesson to keep family at arms length. And they paid the price for it.

which means he wouldn't talk about his emotions with TMNTU!Mikey, simply because he doesn't want to let such a tiny little baby have to process his feelings, especially since TMNTU!Mikey's only 13 (give or take) and that's even younger than Mikey!BM and raph!BM, the two youngest of the four!!
