I usually let anyone enjoy whatever they want, I'm not hater but a friend reminded of how loved is The Climber by the seinen community and I have so much beef with The Climber, it's so bad, it's so bad I can't, how is this one of the most loved seinen, it's such a huge performative male manga it's SO BAD I get physically tense. Like I get what the original idea was, but it's so badly written. Someone destroying themselves through their passion can be a really interesting plot but it's written in such a sigma ass way and full of misogyny too that it becomes the most insufferable thing I've ever read.
Like the parts with the mc actually climbing (cause he doesn't climb that much who would have thought) are nice, it's interesting to see his mindset when being surrounded in such a dangerous and toxic environement, but besides that? He actually doesn't do anything? He's so passive, like even besides the whole misogyny, the plot isn't that good ???? Also the SA treatment is really bad and only serves the mysogyny once again.
Oh and people have told me "but the misogyny is put here on purpose cause the characters are bad !" see I get it when a work is misogynist to a woman character to represent the oppression she's facing and actually develops her character through this, but a media where a woman (a minor as well mind you) is seen naked and objectified by men to show they are pervert, but then ! Is not usefull for the rest of the manga, or when literally EVERY women is villainized into that stereotype of "women who have sex are bad" "good women are pure and only for love🥰" I'm sorry but can we normalize media literacy again that stuff is not progressist nor made on purpose, this is purely mysogyny can people start to think again
