“Don’t mess it up.”

“I’m not gonna mess it up, I’m gonna make it look prettier.” You giggled at your boyfriend’s skeptical stare. Even though his face held nothing but a certain look of distaste at you doing anything to his hair, he still laid his head in your lap and let you have your way with it.

You loved Huijun’s hair. It was soft and long and smelled heavenly. It felt so relaxing to run your fingers through it or make little braids with the strands.

Huijun couldn’t hide how much he liked it as well. Almost immediately after you started combing your fingers through his silky locks, a soft sigh escaped his mouth. He was quite like a kitten; curling up in your lap and nuzzling his head against your thigh. 

“If you cut it, I’m gonna break up with you.” You said after a couple minutes of silent massaging of his scalp. He let out a small discontented grunt and forced one of his eyes to look up at you.

“That’s not fair.”

“Too bad.” You whispered, smiling as you brushed a strand of his hair behind his ear, giving you space to press a kiss to his temple. You would never admit it directly to his face, but you had always wanted Huijun to grow his hair out like this. It suited his face shape so well, hitting right at his shoulders, brushing past his cheeks in soft swoops. It had easily become one of your favourite things about him.

“Do you have work today?” He mumbled, shifting from his side to his back and scrunching his eyes tight together, his nose crinkling as he did.

“I’m off today.” You replied happily, leaning forward slightly to grin at his sleepy gaze. “We can do whatever you want.”

“I want to sleep.” He said bluntly. You giggled and kissed his forehead again, mirroring the lazy smile that spread on his face at the action. Though his eyes had already fallen closed again, he puckered his lips, asking for another kiss which you gladly granted.

“Sleep for 30 minutes and then I’m taking you out for lunch.” You proposed suddenly. Huijun whined slightly about how 30 minutes was too short, but you knew he would be more than energetic later once he got outside.

“Why does it have to be me— just take someone else for lunch.” He complained. 

“Okay, I’ll call up my other boyfriend, then.”

“That’s not fair!” He said again, this time opening his eyes enough to glare at you.

“Shh, I was just joking. My other boyfriend isn’t as handsome as you, don’t worry.” You shushed him, patting his head to reassure him with a teasing smile on your face.

He still frowned, looking entirely unimpressed with your teasing, “I’m going back to sleep.”
