🎂 On July 22nd 1966, the debut issue of the American Pop Magazine HULLABALOO was published and shipped to newsstands with Jan Cremer as its Editor-in-Chief. 📖 It was produced in conjunction with the 1965 HULLABALOO musical television series. When that show was replaced with The Monkees sitcom in September of ‘66, the magazine’s staff wanted to end their affiliation with the former TV program. 🎊 Inspired by The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus film from December ‘68, HULLABALOO magazine changed its name to CIRCUS in January 1969 with their first March issue appearing in February of that year. 🥳 For those interested, staffer recollections of their time at CIRCUS have been documented in “Running Away With The Circus: An Oral History Of CIRCUS Magazine” with new interviews being added. 🎁 In May 2006 the magazine’s owner at that time let his business go into foreclosure and walked away from music journalism to become a writer of fiction novels. Three years later, I stepped in to relaunch CIRCUS by myself with the former boss’ encouragement. 🎉 Next, I created and financed CIRCUS Magazine LLC to replace the liquidated Circus Enterprises Corporation. The partial media / documents list provided shows only a fraction of the receipts from bills & recurring costs that are required to maintain the company I’ve solely been paying for and carrying since then. 🎈 For the last ten years due to tortious interference and non-communication issues between the parties involved, CIRCUS is now similar to a band or entity that’s been divided with each side having partial legal ownership. 🪅 It’s a complex story that deserves to be told but I’ve refused interview requests for now because any misunderstandings via media statements could escalate tensions and further damage relations. 🎀 Time is definitely running out to correct this long-standing issue between CIRCUS’ owners and a lot will be lost if it isn’t. I continue to pursue avenues that’ll resolve any perceived grievances which should finally free CIRCUS to attain its future goals.
