Back when he was still Michael his best days were spent with his huge Italian family every Sunday when they'd have dinner together. Nonna's house would be filled with laughter and SO MUCH FOOD they all cooked together, there'd be leftovers for everyone to take home.

He'd chase his nieces and nephews around the backyard so his sisters could have some quiet time with Nonna while she watched her shows.

Sundays stayed the same for him when he got to Josiah's and his weekly supper with the Boone's, obviously less joyful than being free at home. More chance of him being maimed but he still looked forward to it every week. That's when he'd get to see Annie and they could share secret moments together when the cousins weren't looking.

It was 2015 in Dos Hermanos, Spain, when a police officer escorted an elderly drunk man home. No one could have predicted what law enforcement would find inside. After seeing a chained and padlocked door in the home, the officer demanded to see what was on the other side.

Beyond the door there was a set of stairs leading to a small, roofless room with a single inhabitant. The 59 year old man was naked, frail, emaciated, and covered in his own urine and feces - living locked away in the utmost horrible conditions, with no running water or bathroom. The captive was the youngest brother of the drunk man and his sister who lived with him. The siblings claimed they had him locked away for his own safety due to his mental health problems and also claimed they kept him adequately fed and administered his necessary medications.

It is unclear how long he had been kept in the room intended as a pigeon coop, but medical records showed he hadn’t been to a doctor since 1996. The tortured individual was taken to a hospital while his cruel siblings were arrested for crimes against moral integrity, bad treatment in a family setting, and illegal detention. The names of the family members have not been released.

Paul Martin Andrews, 1973

13 year old Paul Martin Andrews was found in bruised and battered in Virginia, in January of 1973. He was found chained in partially buried deer locker.  The boy had been kept in captivity for 8 days. Over the first seven days the man responsible had visited him daily, beaten and raped him. On the eighth day, something changed, the man returned, satisfied himself and left the boy to die.  Paul Martin Andrews was abducted eight days earlier, on a snow day. He had arisen, done his paper route and  gone to the shops. During this time a blue van pulled up next to him, a man who called himself Peewee had offered him $3 to help him move some furniture. This man was identified to be a well known paedophile, Richard Ausey.  Paul gave in to the offer and climbed into the van, this is when he was driven to the woods and held in captivity.  Paul was found due to the coincidence of two men driving past after hunting rabbits. Paul had heard the car and used his last energy to scream at the top of his lungs, it stopped the two men in their tracks. They figured out when the sound was coming from and called the police.  Richard Ausey was caught and sent to 30 years in prison for his crimes. Paul became a successful man dedicating his life to the advocacy of civil-commitment laws in Virginia and to fight the predation of youths on a legislative level. He was able to compel Virginia’s 2003 legislature to fund the Civil Commitment of Sexually Violent Predators act, which aimed to institutionalize pedophiles after their prison terms, and Ausey was supposed to act as the emblem, but in 2004 was brutally strangled by his cellmate.
