The way things could’ve gone a completely different way if anything happened differently

Pyro and Apo were both at level one when Apo chased them. If Pyro was just a bit more strategic or if Apo was just a little more reckless he could’ve easily killed her. However, if Apo died the town would fight back. They would mourn her and use her as a reason to kill the remaining vampires. Though without a vampire soldier in town, the fight would likely be fruitless…

Shelby and Pyros fight could’ve gone either way and if Shelby died instead, Scott would NOT have redeemed himself because the only way his arc worked out the way it did is because he had the support of both Shelby and Drift guiding him. They, along with his lingering feelings over Avid’s death, made him realize that he had the capability to care and feel things. Their love convinced him that he doesn’t have to be a heartless monster nor does he enjoy being one. He enjoys their company more than the empty loneliness of the past 1400 years and he chooses them over going back to his old ways. With this newfound drive to do better, he helps Cleo and Pearl find a solution to get them out of Oakhurst without having to eliminate all humans or vampires.

If anything happened to Pearl and Cleo’s bond whether they betrayed the other or one died the whole plan to get out with the least deaths possible would’ve never even been created. Their love for each other motivated them to save the town. Pearl didn’t let Cleo turn her until the end because she wouldn’t give up on her faith that both humans and vampires can escape this alive. Pearl also could never see Cleo as a heartless monster and eventually managed to convince Cleo they don’t have to be a monster to survive. If one of them stopped believing in/fighting for the other literally everyone would be doomed.

So in conclusion if any of the yuri was doomed, everything would be doomed. Apo’s love for Cherri saved her from going fully insane because she needed to stay alive to return to Cherri, Drift and Shelby’s unconditional trust and support for each other kept them stable enough to serve as Scott’s moral compass, and Moonrot’s continued partnership quite literally saved everyone.

This bittersweet ending would not be possible without the yuri surviving and Pyro dying.

Human Hero, cursed with regeneration powers, is enslaved to Vampire Villain's coven. Maybe Hero gave themselves up to protect the city. Maybe Hero woke up drained and bleeding in Villain's arms, betrayed by their team "for the good of the people." Maybe, just maybe, Hero hopes that with enough blood loss, they can finally die.

Adding to my VSMP Soul Eater AU, specifically about the coven!

Scott is actually the only meister out of the four(?) coven members, who likely received training and has worked with a weapon at least once or twice before… but never really committed? In no small part because he most likely paid for an instructor for fun rather than any specific interest, and he has none of the modern meister skills like the soul sight. That said, his lacking experience in altering his soul wavelength to match his partner’s doesn’t matter as much as it should because Shelby and Pyro (Owen refuses to transform at all) are both fledglings who are, in some way, under his direct influence. He doesn’t have to try as hard to keep a proper soul bond up with them, as they’d be doing most of the work adhering to his soul wavelength!

Speaking of which, Pyro remains a scythe (that’s just too good not to do) but I decided that turning into a vampire likely has serious effects on both weapons and meisters. Pyro actually started as a sickle and only became a scythe after his turning. In a similar vein, Shelby started as a hunting knife that looked a lot more like something you’d see Avid keep on his person than Scott. She became a black metal rapier following her transformation, and is probably Scott’s primary weapon? Not that the coven in general fights like that much.

As for Owen, an axe-turned-halberd is kind of the obvious choice for a lumberjack and I actually like the idea quite a lot! I think that Louis told him that his weapon form would probably change when he became a vampire, but neither one of them knew what specifically since it varied. Owen still has no idea that he’s now a halberd (or what his new fully transformed form looks like) since he’s refused to transform at all post-Louis’ death. Though I am going with the idea that the vampires can actually see the reflection of their weapon forms? I’m not sure why, but I feel like it makes sense that the full manifestation of their souls would still be visible.

Armand's harboring fear of the collective power of the Coven was entirely fact based; he literally watched his 1500-year-old maker, the most ancient and powerful vampire he had ever known, getting annihilated by an attack of the Roman coven. And sure, Marius survived the attack, but a) Armand didn't know that, and b) Marius still got so fucked up that he literally had to spend nearly two centuries coffinridden with daily drinks from Akasha's blood to reach full recovery. Individually, no coven member would be anywhere near being a match for vampires as ancient and powerful as Marius or Armand, but there's power in numbers, and when working together, they could absolutely be lethal.
