Human Grimmjow and Nelliel

How Grimmjow and Nelliel might have looked like when they were alive. Me and Gurgelz have been developing headcanons and lore for some of the Espadas/Arrancars in the Bleach series, and it's been quite fun!

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez was from the now ex-Yugoslavia, Croatia to be more specific, he fought in the Yugoslavia Wars due to hating the current communist government at the time (since the centralized government attacked his state). He got badly injured in the conflict and was sent to Austria, Vienna, where his relatives ran to once the conflict started. Having trouble to adapt on a new country, with a different language and culture, Grimmjow felt very isolated and restless, wishing to go back to the war. The PTSD he suffered was also damaging to his social interactions, making him feel like a burden to his family, which led him to turn to criminal activities and gang fights as a way to get money. Desperate to get him to calm down, a cousin saw that a play about Grimmjow's favorite fairy tale from childhood was on display at the local theater, she convinced him to go watch it. There, he met Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck, playing as the protagonist on the play... It was almost like love at first sight.

Nelliel came from a wealthy Austrian family, but quite strict. She always loved literature and arts, developing a passion for theater at young age. Her parents didn't approve of her career choice as an actress initially, thinking she should go for a more stable field, but Nelliel remained persistent. Seeing their daughter wouldn't budge, they relented and let her go to acting school. Nelliel's looks and talent led her to be recognized by a popular theater in Vienna, Burgtheater, where she currently worked for a while when met Grimmjow for the first time after a play. She was quite startled due to his unwelcoming expression and grumpy demeanor, not to mention his broken German, but she managed to understand he just wanted to praise her performance. Nelliel could tell he seemed out of place, peaking her curiosity, which led her to invite him for a coffee. From that point on, it would be the beginning of their romance and the path to the tragic end to their lives...

More of Grimmjow and Nelliel as humans, a continuation from this.

As I mentioned in my previous post, Nelliel and Grimmjow meet for the first time when he watches the play she's in: Tsarevitch Ivan, the Firebird and the Gray Wolf. She played as Helen the Beautiful. After that, the two go out more and start dating, Nelliel even offers him to move into her apartment when they get more serious. For a time, Grimmjow seemed to finally calm down thanks to Nelliel's presence in his life, to the point of the two planning to buy a farm one day with sheeps and goats, just like the one Grimmjow worked at with his sister (Leanna) when they were younger. However, Grimmjow's misdeeds eventually caught up to him.

The thugs who he had wronged wanted to get even with him, and Grimmjow tried to get rid of them so they wouldn't threaten him and Nelliel, but he ended up killed during a shooting. After his death, Nelliel falls into heavy depression from the grief. She stops acting, neglects her health, then goes to live back with her parents because they were so worried about her. Her physical health deteriorates until she eventually passes away too.

And this is how they both died and became the Hollows we all know. Pretty tragic, I know, but it is what it is when it comes to Hollows.
