I always get frustrated when I watch the Spring Breakdown movie, not because of the classic "main character is right, everyone is wrong and they turn on the mc, you have to feel sympathetic towards them" set up, but because of the Other way Rainbow was done dirty by her friends

It's pretty obvious Rainbow is adhd coded. Poor memory and attention span, hyper, does poorly in school/doesn't like school, has about 300 hobbies but never really sees most of them to fruition (see: her many sports, but we only ever see her playing soccer), impulsive, etc

On the cruise, there was an emphasis on relaxation, and there was no mention or sign of any on deck games to play or a library with an arsenal of daring do books, and the only other relaxing thing she does is sleep. (i'm not counting music as that largely appears to require friends and has more of a performance appeal to it) Effectively, there wasn't really anything on the cruise she would enjoy doing. She couldn't even challenge Applejack to another stupid competition because Applejack was seasick.

As someone with adhd, Rainbow needs stimulation. She needs to be doing something that's engaging in some way or she'll feel like she's Dying

She was probably bored out of her mind on the cruise!! Of course she's going to start causing problems!! It's practically a textbook example for neurodivergant students!!

And her friends just. Left her alone. To do their own thing.

No one bothering to supervise or keep her company.

They should know what she likes and know she struggles with a disability, understand Why she's doing something and help her. Rather, they effectively became the parents and teachers who, when an ND child is having a problem, they just say "stop it" and nothing else, perhaps yell at them or get them grounded or detention. (Like why should we care? we have our things to do and that's all that matters. What do you mean she's bored and has nothing to do? The audacity she has, don't bother us. you know. cause she appears to be the only one who has adhd and likes sports. no one else understands it.)

Yes, Rainbow still did something bad, since she did cause disruption and go off on her own in a storm which was very dangerous, but the blame is equally if not moreso on her friends for not being sympathetic towards her and expecting her to not be a problem and taking no steps to ensure that.

This also isn't the first time this has happened, since I would argue Rainbow's excessive usage of her superspeed was also fueled by her ADHD. You know. Fun hyperactivity stuff. And they just got angry at her for causing problems. And also laughed at Zephyr's attempt to flirt with her when she was visibly uncomfortable.

* ("wElL whY diDn'T sHe bRiNG sOmeThINg?" While I think it's a good idea to bring amusement, she also shouldn't have to be the only person to supplement something to do. it's also unclear what the staff would do if she was kicking around a soccerball like a madman)

Rainbow Dash: Latina, Mexican

Fluttershy: East Asian, Japanese.

Rarity: North Western European, England because I’m unimaginative.

Twilight: Southern Asian, India

Pinkie Pie: Aboriginal, Australia

Sunset Shimmer: South East Asian, Vietnamese

Spike: A dang ol’ alien hatch from an egg, Purpleton.

None of this is really set in stone. So feel free to treat these as guidelines. Except Fluttershy is Trans and that is a fact of life.

All of Equestria Girls' huMane 7 in their work outfits! Played around with their heights a bit too, of course Rainbow had to be the shortest and Flutters the tallest As before, thanking kingdark0001 for the inspiration, and zacatron94 As well as Kitty who gave some helpful feedback! These were fun, maybe I'll do more of these for other EQG characters/outfits or maybe other series.
