MOB PSYCHO 100!!
Art Progress: 10 May (cont.)
Following on from my progress drawing the human figure yesterday, I decided to try another sketch of a character in my long-abandoned story:
In terms of capturing the shadow and proportions accurately, this was above my skill level. Still, I know what to improve on subsequent attempts:
The shading of the lower part of her right-hand side is unrealistic, so I have to improve that. I filled in the hairline through my own imagination, because otherwise she would look bald.
Furthermore, I need more practice with eyes, lips, and noses.
Still, have to begin somewhere! Feedback on improving my faces would be appreciated.
The Wanyūdō (Monster)
I did some digging into monsters that people might not know to much which lead me to finding about a being which I know very little bit. The Wanyūdō is what we’ll say in this case is a “monster.” The Wanyūdō comes from Japanese Mythology were it is a well known yokai. What makes the Wanyūdō a monster from our theories that we learned is the fact that it is a combination of things and doesn’t come from just from one thing. The Wanyūdō is described as burning oxcart wheel bearing the tormented face of a man. So he is part human and part oxcart which is a weird combination to think about. It is said that it was a condemned soul of a tyrannical daimyō who, in life, was known for having his victims drawn on the back of an oxcart who now guards the gates of hell. So the Wanyūdō is a “monster” because of how it looks and because of what it does.
Swipe ➡️ to view all. I've become so reliant on drawing digital that I rarely draw with a real pencil anymore. It feels weird. But can't sleep so made a few doodles. Believe it or not, the first two faces are the exact same character. This is a great example of how I can never manage to draw my characters the same way every time even side by side. I don't know why. It's something that's been bugging me for a long time and something I'm stuck on and struggling to improve. Also tried to give her a slightly fuller figure in that first one because all my characters are also the exact same size. I just feel in a stuck place like my art isn't improving at all in a long time and the only difference you can tell between my characters is their hair. Meh. Also tried a human face in the last one. I think people are tired of me drawing only mice all the time so.
