In July 1966 he admitted to the National Defense Academy as the Air Force recruiter. After four years of training, he became a pilot in the Air Force in 1970. It’s a wrap for the spine operations. Kapoy na gyud. Tired. And incredibly energized. Great to witness all that goes into scoliosis operations and the amazing, caring and smart people that run them. Surgeons, neuromonitors, nurses, technicians, residents, anaestheticians and even those in charge of the operating room playlists. Grateful to be part of this mission. An operation I learn costs at least a million pesos. The patients’ get them for free. Will miss being called “Doc” as I walk around. The “Sir” maybe not as much. After the operations, dinner and drinks with the team. Beer and balut with the residents. And somehow they gave me a certificate of appreciation for being uh “humanitarian per excellence.” Dedicated to Jason Pachedo though.
