Work it Beetle! Love our new Animo!!
I’m sorta proud of this picture. This is only my second show doing hunter over fences classes. I only started jumping again in December after almost 19 years since my last lesson. And Champ is an absolute angel.

‘Matchy Matchy Without Breaking The Bank’
Author: Annalise Wagner
Matchy Matchy... The easiest way I can explain is matching your underwear to your socks, to your bra and finally to your headband... but more expensive and on the horse!
Everyone loves to look good whilst riding their horse, and with popular instagram influencers rocking the latest Eskadron, and riders showing off their newest Equestrian Stockholm purchase in big facebook groups popping up like saddle pads anonymous, matchy matchy is a heavily desirable trend, worldwide!
Unfortunately matching sets can be a costly investment as it requires a saddle pad, boots/bandages and a bonnet, sometimes a exercise sheet/blanket too, which means some riders miss out due to costs, but not for much longer, because we have found the perfect matchy-matchy brand for the equestrian on a budget!
Let us introduce you to FreeRein, sold by HLB Equestrian!
FreeRein offers budget friendly Matchy-Matchy to suit all english disciplines and needs!
I was left speechless the first time I saw my FreeRein products!
The saddle pads are crafted out of a durable yet high quality cotton, with a nice thread count, which leads me to believe they are built to last! The colours themselves were stunning! The fit of both pads are spot on, and contour my saddles perfectly, whilst giving comfortable space for my OTTB’s high withers!
I chose Peppermint for jumping, and Harvest Gold for dressage!
The Harvest Gold has a stunning metallic gold binding with a beige base, and the Peppermint has a white and black binding with a mint base! Both sets came with matching bonnets and the dressage came with polo bandages whereas the jumping came with SMB boots!
The bonnets are lovely, with Lycra ears to ensure a tailored fit, and a nice crocheted base, that matches the pads beautifully!
The polo bandages for my Harvest Gold set are truly something else! They have a high quality luxurious fleece with quality velcro and a good stretch! I really appreciated the level of detail FreeRein went to when designing and picking the materials for these!
Finally the SMB boots are really cool! FreeRein has taken into account that all horses are different, and this is clear when you see their SMB boots! The boot itself is made out of the soft side of velcro, so the latchy side can be altered and contoured to any horse leg, promoting a perfect fit every single time! I found this exceptionally impressive!
Overall I think FreeRein is a brand worth keeping an eye on! The products are high quality and well thought out, and in comparison to other Matchy Matchy brands, FreeRein are exceptionally budget friendly without cutting costs to offer that affordable price! The colours are cute and modern, and FreeRein are very versatile for the different english disciplines!
If you want to deck your horse/pony out in FreeFrein Matchy-Matchy, you can purchase directly at HLB Equestrian!

MATERIALISTIC, OR APPRECIATION OF AN ARTFORM? STOP PUTTING DOWN WELL DRESSED EQUESTRIANS
I hate how shallow people have to be, that they put down any rider who owns nice gear with the traditional “So Materialistic” / and or the “I bet mummy and daddy paid for all of that” comment.
For starters, Just because she has nice stuff doesn’t mean she is necessarily materialistic. Some people just like to express themselves through their style, which I appreciate as an artform in itself. (IE: gaga, sia) If you are one of these people, like myself for instance, what’s the physical harm in collaborating our sense of style, with our passion of the equestrian sport. In my opinion, as long as the horse is well taken care of, health up to date, fed well... It’s not really harming anyone for a rider to dress with style.
Secondly, HOW IS IT ACTUALLY AFFECTING YOU? Don’t give me a “oh it annoys me” answer, how is it physically affecting you if a rider decides to dress their horse and themselves fashionably? Answer is, it’s really not. If they annoy you, stop checking their profile regularly, block them and move on. It’s really not that hard to distance yourself from someone you dislike. By the looks of it, most people who comment nasty things like this, check the rider’s profile regularly, it’s like you are their #1 fan! #AWKS!
Finally, It’s their money, and their lives and quite frankly, it’s none of your business. Chances are, you are jealous... Although you may not think so initially; really think about it for a moment. “Why am I so obsessed with what this girl wears?”. There’s your answer.
All in All, as actor Idina Menzel (Elsa in Frozen), Once famously sang...
