Slightly disappointing ride out today. We started by just walking in hand in the timber, which was where I intended to ride. I opened all the gates and went back up to the arena to mount. There was a woman and her pony just hanging out in the dressage arena, but as we were heading down to the timber they were partially obscured by the trees, so Luna kept having to stop and look at them. Once we got down to the entrance Luna balked and was very reluctant to go into the woods. I decided not to fight it and we took the hay field route instead. She seemed much happier to be out there, and we did a decent amount of trot/canter work. Her stop definitely left something to be desired, but she never tried to take off on me so I’ll call it a win. Unfortunately my stirrups were uneven so my position was more unstable than I’d like, and I wasn’t comfortable enough to stop and adjust them from the saddle. Overall Luna was very good and I’m mostly disappointed in my less than ideal seat. Still holding out hope that our trail buddy is able to get her car in before the 12th and it’s an easy fix. I’m definitely not ready to be done hauling out for the year :(
