Notes: For @huntressdarkness for pine4pine. First ever Bad Batch fic I've written.

Summary: "Hunter!"

He hisses in pain, touches his left side, and quickly takes away his hand. Even through the gloves and armor, the wound—a blaster bolt—is still warm. Hunter concentrates and self-assesses. He has some bruises on his chest; he's able to feel them begin to form—sensitive. There's the wound on his side, of course. Hunter can already feel his skin reacting and working on healing itself. There's probably going to be a scar, but it won't be his first. Even though he can't touch his hair, he can tell it's matted with blood. His head hurts. It feels like there's ringing in his ears, and the ache reminds him of his migraines. Did he hit his head on something?

Snippet: He squints and groans as his eyes adjust. His HUD is glitching. Weakly turning on, then turning black before he's able to see anything. It does this several times. He can feel the vibrations of the parts working, straining to function and fail each time. The screen blinks, and there are static lines in those brief seconds it's working. The flashing bothers his eyes a little. Can't be helped.

It's not like this hasn't happened to him before, but it still sucks. The last time his HUD malfunctioned was on Kidria XVI, several months ago.

That time it was definitely Wrecker's fault; at least that was his working theory. His brother had been playing with his helmet earlier in the day. Wrecker was practicing juggling for some reason. Why Wrecker only used his helmet is still a mystery. Hunter knows it was dropped several times—they all watched it happen. Each time Tech warned Wrecker to be more careful and that it was advisable if he stopped altogether. It wasn't until Crosshair stepped in after the tenth time that Wrecker stopped. He always listens to his twin. It can be annoying at times. That shouldn't have mattered—the clone armor is made to hold up and take a lot of damage. But somehow, in the middle of scouting out locations for weaknesses in the clankers lines, his HUD cut out. Which was the exact moment he had been spotted and was shot at.

Aflame (Crosshunt) – Hunter and Crosshair might be together now after Crosshair’s rescue post Outpost, but they haven’t really addressed, much less dealt with, everything they did to each other. They can only ignore it for so long. Last part of the Aloft series.

Breathless (Hunter/Tech) – Post-Bracca aftermath where Hunter and Tech explore choking as a way of coping with what happened there with Wrecker. Background polybatch.

Lead Me Unto Redemption (Crosshunt to Polybatch) – Hunter’s chip was activated by the Empire after his capture, and even if he and Crosshair are with the Batch again, they need to get it out before Hunter’s Imperial loyalties kick in. And then they need to deal with getting him (and mainly Crosshair) back. Last part of the Lead Me series.

Mirror Image (Crosshunt to Crosshair/Hunter/Crosshair/Hunter) – Post-S3 Crosshair and Hunter end up in the past before S1. Their mission is to save their family. Hunter’s mission. Crosshair’s mission involves making their younger selves hook up.

Rapture (Polybatch) – Crosshair discovers CX-2 is Tech on Tantiss and tries to get through to him. He tries to deal with the consequences of his failure alone. Crosshair angst. The Batch have to put themselves back together in the aftermath of S3. Currently a WIP series.

Star-crossed (Crosshunt) – After E1, Crosshair and Hunter start having comm sex. It gets Complicated very quickly. Enemies to lovers, mutual pining, Hunter’s guilt complex.

Drama ensues with Mayday trying to get Crosshunt back together, so they stop pining and being miserable. Crosshair is torn between the two since it never occurred to him that he can have both. She goes with the Batch when they arrive and stick with them through S1, slowly falling for Hunter while feeling guilty about it and trying to get through to Crosshair to bring him back. He doesn’t come. She gets together with Hunter after S1, and angst ensues when Crosshair finally returns. Pairings: Crosshair/Reader, Hunter/Reader, Crosshair/Hunter, Crosshair/Hunter/Reader

(3 of 39) Rex time travels post-Malachor to the beginning of the war. The first part of the series covers his initial reactions, going through the Battle of Geonosis again, seeing Anakin and knowing what he’ll become. He reunites with Cody on Kamino in the aftermath and finds comfort with him. Later parts will build up to Rexwalker and maybe a handful of other ships. Pairings: Rex/Cody (in the first part)

Note: I am not fully decided on which option to go with, but I am most likely going to write two of the top three picks. <3

Weeeell... you might have guessed that This Is How We Rise Up is the dark Hunter time travel I've been talking about so much. XD

Since I'm feeling a little bit evil right now, how about this excerpt?

“I’m sorry,” says Hunter, wrapping his arms around him. He is. He’s sorry that any version of him had to go through what this one did. He can’t imagine Crosshair leaving, can’t imagine what it would do to any of them. It makes him hurt just thinking about it. “Yeah, I know.” He knows he doesn’t imagine the way the elder’s eyes flicker down to his mouth, and he definitely doesn’t imagine the way he leans in, freezing only a millisecond before their lips would have met.

This fic is SUCH a slowburn. 😂

A shadow passes over his face as his expression darkens. “Leave them out of this,” he snaps back. “They have nothing to do with this.” “Oh, so there is something else going on,” Crosshair hisses, and all rationality flies out the window entirely. “Is that why you’re so defensive when your Crosshair gets mentioned? Did you fuck him, too?” Hunter jolts, eyes going wide with something that could be panic. “Crosshair –!”
