When I was fourteen I had my first pimple...a big one right on my forehead. I ran to my mother shouting with utter disgust and told her how it doesn't go with my face. What shocked my mother was what I told her next. Throwing my arms and jumping with immense disgust I shouted "ugh I won't look beautiful anymore. I look so horrible. Nobody will like me. They will make faces. I want to hide my face."
What surprised me was my mother's reaction. She gave a smile , held my hand and took me to our garden. There was a rose bush which my mother and I watered and looked after. She took me in front of it and pointed at some beautiful freshly bloomed roses and asked me "What are these?" I replied Roses. They were beautiful. Then my mom pointed to another side of the bush where the flowers had dried and some petals had fallen off. Pointing to the dried ones she asked me " What are these?" I replied again that they were roses too. Then my mother said ," the dried ones were also once fresh and all red but with time they decayed. It is the same with us. The roses which are blood red now, they will dry and their petals will fall off too one day. Beauty decays with time. But they will still be roses. We get perfumes , powder , the lipstick you wear , the cream you use and even your rose water from these roses. But do you know what's the irony? the red so called beautiful rose is dried up,their petals are plucked in the process to give us these products. Now tell me where does the difference lie between the red ones and the dried faded ones? Beauty decays my dear..what remains is the heart. The face is never the door to the soul ,the heart is. Always remember you will meet all sorts of people .Some will judge you by your face , but it's upto you to make them bound to talk about your heart too when they talk about your face. It all fades my dear.. the color or the flawless skin. What doesn't fade is your smile and the way you treat people. You're beautiful like the red rose and as useful as the dried one whether you have a pimple or a flawless skin."
Now pimples are a daily routine and I have a lot of spots and I'm not fair but since that day I never cared how I look. Since that day I never cared about beauty pageants and products. People should be beautiful from inside.
