“The Sword of Kahless” (S04E09, Stardate 49289.1) is a rousing Klingon episode without a B-plot in sight. Lots of Klingon mythology, Worf backstory and continuity from TNG. There are some holes in the rushed finale, but on the whole it is an enjoyable adventure with some sweet fight sequences.

Summary: In the 14th Century, these mysterious aliens from the Gamma Quadrant arrived on Qo’nos. They stole what they could, destroyed what they couldn’t, and occupied the planet for some time before mysteriously retreating. Today, the Hur’q are believed to be extinct. Their brutal conquest of Qo’nos stands as among the most devastating threats to the Klingon Empire, along with the destruction of Praxis and the introduction of the Augment Virus.
Unconfirmed sources indicate that the Klingon Empire may have acquired Warp Drive from what the Hur’q left on Qo’nos, but this has not been confirmed.
