Movie night. That was the plan for today. Ian has been coaxing Mickey into watching The Dark Knight with him for the last month, but all he's been getting in response was "not now, Gallagher", "just shut up and get on me", "no way, we're watching Point Break", "shit, I'm too tired for that, man"...
But this morning Ian finally got his husband to agree. It may have been forced out of him by means of a mind-blowing orgasm, but the 'yes' was loud and clear. It was settled and they decided that as soon as Mickey gets their ambulance checked at the service station, they would watch the movie together.
The problem is, it's already past seven o'clock and Mickey promised he'd be home by now. But he's not. Ian has been sitting cross-legged on the couch in the living room for the last half an hour, getting bored out of his mind.
He's fighting a losing battle with sleep as he scrolls the news pages, texts his siblings and makes some arrangements for tomorrow. It's not that late just yet, but he feels so tired, the week's exhaustment catching up with him, multiplied by the ridiculous number of hours of sleep he got during the last few days.
So it's not Ian's fault that he is barely awake by the time the key turns in the lock of their apartment. He doesn't even register the door shutting at first. The sound is distant and the familiar click of the lock reaches Ian's ears, but doesn't disturb the redhead. It's the soft footsteps of his husband that make him stir.
Ian feels the couch dip beside him, the distinct smell of Mickey filling the air around him. The warmth oozes out of the man beside him, so Ian's head instinctively leans towards the older man and falls on his shoulder.
"Hey, Sleepyhead."
The soft voice of his husband makes Ian's lips stretch in a lazy smile. The greeting is accompanied by a gentle hand on his cheek, stroking his skin ever so gently and Ian's heart flutters.
"R'late," Ian breathes, eyes still closed.
"Late?" He chuckles silently and raises his eyebrows at Ian even though he doesn't see it. "Man, it's half past eight."
"Bullshit..." The redhead sighs.
"Don't believe me?" Mickey scoffs incredulously. "I told you these runs at the ass-crack of dawn and your attempts at helping every single one of your siblings are gonna catch up with you sooner or later. If anything, it's you who is early."
Ian just groans dismissively and mutters, "S'pos'd t'be home at seven."
"Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm sorry," he turns to kiss the top of Ian's head. "Car service took forever and the traffic on the way back was crazy. Got back as fast as I could."
His husband hums in acknowledgement and shifts his body to press himself more into Mickey.
"Yo, man, I didn't even shower," the dark-haired man protects weakly, but Ian just leans further into him, arms going around his man's waist.
"S'fine," he mumbles as he tucks his face into the crook of Mickey's neck, inhaling the scent of his husband's cologne mixed with a distinct note of cigarettes.
"Alright," Mickey chuckles and pulls his husband closer to himself. The heat is radiating off each other as they stay in a comfortable embrace and Ian's mind drifts once again.
His husband tells him about the douchebags back in the car service and his voice is incredibly soothing. Combined with the soft rumble of his chest and dimmed lights in the room, it provides Ian with a perfect setting for falling asleep again.
Mickey's words become muffled as Ian slips into unconsciousness, but the slow, gentle movement of his husband's fingertips along his bare arm makes him resurface for a moment.
"Yeah?"
It takes a lot for Ian to open his eyes and look up at the man in his arms, but it's worth the effort. Mickey's gaze is so soft and open it makes Ian sigh, completely and ridiculously enamored.
Mickey stares at Ian for a second, a tiny smile on his face. "I said should we go to the bedroom?" He leans in and places a gentle kiss to his husband's lips. "Dive under the covers?" he whispers and brushes his nose against Ian's.
"Nah, it's movie night..." Ian's eyelids get heavier again.
"Right," Mickey chuckles. "Face the music, Mumbles, we have to postpone this shit one more time."
"Ugh, fine," he sighs. "But we're watchin' t'morrow, right?"
"You have my word."
It is sealed with another delicate kiss and Mickey helps them settle down on the couch, too exhausted and lazy to move to their bedroom.

Geto wouldn't say he's afraid of bugs. But-
"Satoru I swear it was right there."
"We are the strongest, how bad could one little bug be?"
Little was an understatement. There was a roach currently crawling on the walls of the shower where five minutes ago Geto had been peacefully brushing his teeth. "Is that it?" Gojo laughs.
To him it's tiny! To Geto, who hated roaches with a passion, it was huge. Really it was just about the size of a penny. "I've got this! You go relax." Geto glared at him but still he left.
The roach and Gojo have a standoff. "You're tiny. I don't know why Suguru is so scared." Slipper in hand, he gets ready to throw it. When suddenly the worst happens.
It fly's.
And Gojos never been known for his self control. So when Geto comes back he finds the bathroom, completely destroyed. "Did you just hollow purple the roach?" Gojo looks over his shoulder. "You didn't tell me it could fly!"
Geto sighs and runs a hand through his hair. Then he just shrugs. At least the roach is dead.
You know you've got a keeper when he bakes at 9pm so you have something delicious to take for a coworkers birthday the next morning.
Sitting at the dining room table by candle light because my wife is in the next room sleeping on the couch and our newborn is in his bassinet in there as well. My wife is still recovering from her c-section so she’s not able to get up the stairs to go to our bedroom.
I’m on night duty with our newborn while she sleeps, he needs his meds in a little bit and a bottle a little after that. It’s a tiring and exhausting time these first few weeks of having a newborn. I remember it well from a year ago when we had our first. It’s a lot more tiring now with having a one year old and a newborn who are both on completely different schedules.
With all that said, I absolutely love everything about our lives. Sure I’m constantly tired and we have disagreements here and there, but having a family like this is such an amazing thing that I never thought would happen.
Love is never equal; some times you are loved and other times you are the lover.
