God I read this in class earlier but was on mobile and couldn’t reply then of course forgot about it entirely but I SAW THAT. I was on Twitter and I saw that and look I expected the Liberals to be neutral. As the party in charge they’re going to welcome him into the oval office and do nothing critical. The test of Trudeau comes when Trump starts fucking up in the sense that there’s something besides rhetoric to react to (and like some posts have been saying in an ideal world he either won’t get the chance or he’ll be too complacent to take it). 

Not that rhetoric hasn’t already fucked everything up but I’d rather they treated him with that cautious politeness because he scares the shit out of me. That might be my privilege talking, I can’t say as obviously we’re not real worried about Canada atm so no one’s been discussing Trudeau’s reaction that I’ve seen, but I’m not interested in Trump deciding he hates Canada right out the gate (although with no context, I did like Merkel’s response).

The Conservatives though, jesus christ. They wanna be Republicans so fucking badly. They wanna have that power to be able to do whatever the fuck they want and have a voter base dumb and hateful enough to support them-- not that they don’t already, but they were slighted hard in the last election. Now more than ever they’re longing for that stranglehold again, and with Conservatives and republicans their answer is never to step forward or progress. They always move further and further back until the scum of the earth rears its ugly head and follows. 

This motherfucker’s stupid “Canada needs this message too” like no Canada fucking doesn’t and nothing proved that more than the last election with all the gnarly bullshit everyone tried to pull and all the nasty hateful shit all the “barbaric cultural practices hotline” fucking niqab “issue” fucking fearmongering about refugees... we’re susceptible to it. We heard all our parents and aunts and uncles and cousins and siblings be susceptible to it. We probably still see bogus ass Facebook posts about it.

But after this Trump thing, it’s so important for us to say that we’re going to resist it. We’re not going to let this keep seeping into Canada and we’re going to do everything in our power to stomp out what’s already here and what Trudeau is already bringing with all his bullshit that he promised and never went through with for the First Nations, for the environment, and for our electoral processes that he’s backpedalling on so hard that there’s skid marks in his wake. We have to remember that in the wake of this awful awful thing that happened to America, Conservatives were celebrating.
