Scarlet-winged Lichen Moth (Hypoprepia miniata)
Also known as the Scarlet Lichen Moth or Striped Footman is a species of lichen moth (Lithosiini), which occurs throughout eastern and central North America. Scarlet-winged Lichen moths typically inhabit dry open woodlands, especially those with Jack/Lodgepole pines. H. miniata larvae like other members of Lithosiini feed mainly on lichens and are often seen under stones and on trunks of trees.
