Traits
Hold Breath: The hydra can hold its breath for 1 hour.
Multiple Heads: The hydra has five heads. While it has more than one head, the hydra has advantage on saving throws against being blinded, charmed, deafened, frightened, stunned, and knocked unconscious.
Whenever the hydra takes 25 or more damage in a single turn, one of its heads dies. If all its heads die, the hydra dies.
At the end of its turn, it grows two heads for each of its heads that died since its last turn, unless it has taken fire damage since its last turn. The hydra regains 10 hit points for each head regrown in this way.
Reactive Heads: For each head the hydra has beyond one, it gets an extra reaction that can be used only for opportunity attacks.
Wakeful: While the hydra sleeps, at least one of its heads is awake.
Actions
Multiattack: The hydra makes as many bite attacks as it has heads.
Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d10 + 5) piercing damage.

Don’t know why so many people have so much trouble taking down the hydra? Strictly speaking it can’t just generate matter from nothing? So it must be drawing upon fat stores located on its body? So just cut off that bit, and then cut off the heads?
Even if you couldn’t do that, just cut off the heads a couple of times until they’re unmanageable and run away. There’s no way there’s enough food in the area to sustain that much mass. They’ll all starve to death because the can’t sustain themselves as they can’t just shed the heads.
Or can they?
Every single encounter with a hydra has them with one head? That’s… odd… you’d think that someone had cut off at least a couple of heads off of any ‘ol hydra. So can they shed the heads, or are the heads just temporary with the potential to become permanent if they’re the last ones standing?
Monsters are confusing.

13 hilariously disgusted fan reactions to hydra captain america
The Captain America Hydra Thing
I am NOT EVEN IN THIS FANDOM and I was shocked at my immediate outrage. I’ve never read the comics. Thought the first movie was good, the second one boring. Mostly, I have a HUGE PROBLEM with this character, built of bravery and manipulated by the American government to serve their own ends, being a tool for (bullshit aside) the NAZIS. A genocidal regime that happened IN LIVING MEMORY. Survivors of this terrorist period of history ARE STILL ALIVE. The Nazi regime IS NOT A CONVENIENT BACKGROUND FOR A FANTASY STORY, it REALLY HAPPENED and REALLY RECENTLY and TO MY RELATIVES and CAPTAIN AMERICA WAS WRITTEN BY JEWS AS A REVENGE NARRATIVE and FUCK YOU SO HARD MARVEL REALLY I HOPE YOU ALL GET FIRED.
Even if this is just a shocking plot twist that will turn out to be “ha ha no he wasn’t he was undercover all the time” it is in TERRIBLE taste. TERRIBLE.
Shalom motherfuckers.
