Realized I never did post some of the fluff I promised for our sweet Traveler after making him cry so much! So here ya go!
Flower Crowns and HoneyBees
Hyrule x reader
Warnings: bee stings, fluff, Hyrule being super duper smitten
"All finished!" Hyrule announced, spinning in place to reveal his work from the past 30 minutes, the tall blades of grass and a myriad of flowers scattered about blowing in the wind of his sudden disturbance. The smile on his face was brighter than the midday sun, lighting up the field the two of you had nestled down into earlier that morning. "Do you like it?"
Held delicately in his outstretched hands was a handcrafted crown, made entirely of the freshly plucked twigs, fresh leaves, grass and flowers you had spent the morning collecting.
"It's beautiful!" You beamed, admiring its details and little personal touches of fairy magic he wove throughout the piece.
"May I? He asks, raising it higher towards your head. You nod, quickly lowering your head as Hyrule places the flower crop directly on top. You were surprised at how comfortable it is, not twigs or sharp edges poking at your skull, and the floral scents form all the different petals mixed beautifully.
"How do I look?" You ask with a cheeky grin, giving him a quick pose to show it off. Hyrule chuckles, cupping your face as he leans forward.
"Beautiful," he answers, honesty dripping off each vowel. It brings a blush to your cheeks, shying away slightly till his hand guides your face back up to his. He leans down, soft lips hovering over yours. "May I?"
You don't respond, but simply close the gap between you and him, letting space and time slip away as you kiss him. His mouth molds against yours, tasting of sweetened berries and something else you could quite name, but it was sweet and almost surreal. His fingers trace down to your jaw, the tip of his tongue slipping past your lips, pulling a hum of pleasure from you. A chuckle rumbles against your mouth, replaced by a small peck before Hyrule pulls away.
Honeyed eyes stare down at you in admiration, as though memorizing each and every detail from your face do to the tips of your toes. You return the expression, reaching up to brush away a few loose curls that had fallen into his face when-
"Ouch!" Reeling back, your hand flies up to your face, rubbing at your cheek which feels as though you just got stabbed by a sewing needle. Hyrule immediately responds as well, pulling back in surprise, eyes scanning you over questioningly before they catch the small striped bug flying away from its hiding place in one of the flowers atop your head.
Hyrule is quick to shoo it away, anxiety spiking in his veins as he cups your face in his hands. 'Are you alright?" He asks, tilting your head to the side to take a better look at the swelled bump now forming in the top of your cheekbone. "I'm so sorry! I had no idea- I didn't realize there was a bee or that it would- are you okay? Do you need anything? I can heal you-"
"Honey I'm fine," you assure him, pushing past the sting that was already beginning to dull. "It just surprised me more than anything."
But his hands are already glowing. Held up to the level of his pleading, puppy dog eyes. You giggle, unable to resist the near pitiful look as you let your hand fall away from your face, revealing the bump to him. Hyrule's hands hover over your for just a moment, the warmth from his skin and tingle from the magic dancing just above the newly acquired "injury". You hold a breath, waiting for the sensation of liquid honey sinking into you, soothing away any ache and tenderness as if it had never existed.
Yet it never comes. Instead, there is a deep sigh, and instead of the feel of magic, Hyrule lips press delicately onto your cheek. He pulls away with a boyish grin, and an exaggerated "MWAH!"
"All better!" He declares, puffing out his chest slightly. But his eyes say it all. Honeyed eyes so full of joy and love that you could have, they practically were glow brighter than his hands from a moment ago. You match his smile, a surprised laugh shouting past your lips as he lunges forward to you, wraps his arms around your waist and topples backwards. You land flush on top of him, your laughter mixing with his as flower petals and butterflies flew up around you.
"Link!" You tease, tapping his chest, yet making no effort to push off or away from him. He holds you close, letting you rest on top of him as he brushes away lose strands of hair.
"You're more beautiful than any flower my little honeybee" He whispers, capturing your lips in a slow, lingering kiss. You hum contently, melting into it. And for just a while longer, the world seems to disappear, leaving just the two of you and the buzzing bee floating nearby.
do you happen to have any ideas about Courage and Hyrule getting slightly jealous/in competition with each other in a way over poor guide/human/darling/reader after reader accidentally or offhandedly about it mentions them sort of being each others mirror/another version of each other? I could see it getting a little terse, especially in a polychain/pining chain oblivious reader sort of scenario
also don't push or rush yourself! college is hard in general, switching majors is normal, I hope your new one is good for you!
Hyrule and Courage's Rivalry
Thank you! I did a total 180 lol, from STEM to English... but I think that was the right choice for me in the long run
And of course, I always have something to say about a cringe link and our sweet Rulie... this unintentionally became a bit Hyrule-centric
Contains: gn!reader, pet names (sweetheart), established polyamory, jealousy, a little fluff on the side, I feel like I could definitely make a suggestive pt. 2 to this but this one's sfw
Word Count: ~960

ᰔᩚ Hyrule is generally one of the more insecure Links in the chain, but there are certain things that will light a fire under him
ᰔᩚ Courage is one of them
ᰔᩚ Though he may not consider himself the greatest swordsman, or a true “hero,” (despite what others tell him) he can at least pride himself on his morals
ᰔᩚ Being chivalrous, doing noble acts, always showing good character, those are his best qualities!
ᰔᩚ How can someone who claims to be his equal be so careless about such things?
ᰔᩚ Sure, Courage also does “noble deeds” and “heroic acts” but he’s… he’s uncouth! Hyrule doesn’t want to share his likeness
ᰔᩚ And what’s worse, is you still want to be around him!
ᰔᩚ You sit with him by the fire, you laugh at his jokes, and you even baby him when he’s begging for attention
ᰔᩚ He didn’t always have this sense of…rivalry with Courage
ᰔᩚ Sure he didn’t really like the guy, but he had never felt truly threatened by him
ᰔᩚ It all started when you tapped your chin one day, staring at them both in consideration
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
“You know… in legend, you both are depicted as the same hero!”
Courage and Hyrule both flinched, seeming equally shocked and disturbed by the idea.
“What?” Courage puts a hand on his chest, “Sweetheart, I’m a lot better than he is. Not only have I taken on Ganon, but I’ve seen personally to the defense of the princess, and her castle!” He crosses his arms and starts to list off all of his heroic deeds, as if trying to one-up Hyrule.
Hyrule blinks in surprise, staring at you. “But…how can that be? We...hold on, I fought Ganon too!" He frowns, turning to glare at Courage.
"Maybe, but did you do it multiple times?"
"No...that just proves you didn't do the job the first time!"
"Why, you...!"
It took a while to calm them down.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
Hyrule crossed his arms. "How could this be...? We have taken on different beasts. I’m not even sure how close we are in eras.” He frowned thoughtfully, though he didn't have quite as nasty an expression as Courage did.
You hummed, “You must be fairly close in era. Or maybe the timeline branched with you two? Your kingdoms look very similar to each other. You even share the same likeness!”
They turned to stare at each other then, looking for similarities. It was true. Of all the Links in the Chain, they looked like they could be brothers. Hyrule’s hair was a bit lighter, and Courage’s features were a bit stronger, but even down to the tunics they were wearing, they looked alike.
“I can’t believe this! That can’t be true.” Courage stands. “Are you sure you read the books right, Y/N? Maybe we were just… within a few hundred years of each other!”
You shook your head, amused at his vehement rejection. “You’re definitely the same. I mean, you're both hailed as the Hero of Hyrule. Have you ever wondered why all your gear is the same? You guys must have been from the same kingdom!”
Hyrule stares off into the distance, seeming to contemplate everything he thought he ever knew.
“So we are… associated with each other’s deeds?” He murmurs, looking at you.
You chuckled. “You might as well be the same person!” You said jokingly.
They did not think it was funny.

ᰔᩚ Hyrule wants to prove to you that he’s the better of the two
ᰔᩚ He puts in more effort around camp, he pays more attention during group planning, he even offers to do things for you like cooking (much to everyone’s dismay)
ᰔᩚ And you kiss him, and you tell him thank you, and it makes his heart flutter and his ears wiggle in happiness
ᰔᩚ ...Until Courage shows up
ᰔᩚ What Courage lacks in experience he makes up for in passion
ᰔᩚ He'll recite poetry to you, bring you flowers, offer sweet acts of service like helping you brush your hair or getting dressed in the morning (for your own sake, deny that last one)
ᰔᩚ You can't help but blush from his attentions, which makes Hyrule feel like he needs to try even harder
ᰔᩚ It gets to the point that they're stepping over each other to reach you first. Gods forbid you say you're hungry, cold, anything, because they'll be racing to you to help
ᰔᩚ "Do you need my tunic?" / "I have some leftover food in my pack..."
ᰔᩚ And naturally, they're always taking the opportunity to show off
ᰔᩚ Winding down at camp may consist of shedding a few more layers than normal, and sparring may include a little more...flexing
ᰔᩚ But at the end of it all, what matters is who manages to sidle up to you first, mumbling about tiredness and asking to be held
ᰔᩚ Be it Hyrule, who will lay his head against your collar, mindful of his breaths against your skin
ᰔᩚ Or be it Courage, who will drape himself across your shoulders and let his hand rest suspiciously close to a place it doesn't need to be
ᰔᩚ Either way, they'll be happy just to be beside you
ᰔᩚ ...And glaring at each other over your shoulder the whole time

𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐒 — nothin' but fluff :)

" hyrule coming home to reader who is (one of) zelda’s little sibling/nobleborn s/o? very fluffy very sweet please!!! " - anon request
Hyrule didn’t really have a home of his own. He wandered from place to place, never staying for too long in fear of what wreckage could be brought by the monsters that tracked him, thirsting to spill his blood and resurrect their master.
For the longest time, he had thought that his life would remain forever on the road. And he didn’t have much issue with it honestly. He loved travelling to different villages, discovering and revisiting different cultures, exploring the woods and wilds, and learning the lay of the land better than anyone else in the kingdom.
He could do without the reasoning behind this lifestyle, but Hyrule knew deep down that he did love it dearly.
But things were starting to change. He never thought it would be possible, but a conversation with Princess Zelda had opened his eyes to new possibilities. In all honesty, he hadn’t even planned to talk to her. Hyrule really only ever visited the palace to spend time with the other royal member it housed, you.
Memories of your bright smile flashed in his mind, the two of you cuddled in your plush bed, with the faint scent of lavender floating in the air.
His face was buried in the crook of your neck, arms wrapped around your middle, and back pressed flush against his chest. One of your hands was holding his, rubbing soft circles into the skin.
“When do you need to get going?” you mumbled into the pillow.
“Soon,” he whispered, holding you tighter.
You sighed and turned in his grasp, wrapping your arms around him. He pressed a kiss into your hair, nuzzling against it a little.
“Will you bring me something again?”
He kissed your nose. “Of course.”
Hyrule always brought you something whenever he visited, something that reminded him of you during his travels. It didn’t take much considering you were always on his mind, but he always took care to find something special. And that way, you’d have something to remember him by when he eventually had to leave you.
Hyrule didn’t have a home to call his own, and he didn’t care to. But coming back to yours, and imagining it to be his too? Or rather, to have someone to come home to whenever he pleased? By the gods, he was starting to wish for it. He’d build a palace for you with his bare hands if it meant he could freely see you whenever he wanted.
But the last thing Hyrule ever wanted was to bring monsters right to your door and put you in danger. A thought he could never imagine, and an act he would never forgive himself for committing.
He briefly tensed at a sudden banging on the door. It swung open and Princess Zelda came through, calling your name.
“Are you busy? I’ve found something–” Her eyes briefly widened at the sight before gently smiling and averting her gaze. But she made no move to leave your room.
Hyrule leapt out of the bed, face turning as bright as a tomato and comically snapping into a deep bow.
“Pri-Princess!” His head spun a little from how quickly he had moved.
“Hello, Link,” she said amusedly.
“Sister!” you exclaimed.
The drowsiness had taken a second to leave you, but reality had caught up and you were more than flustered.
“Please, no need for formalities, Link,” said Zelda.
He had remained bowing the entire time, out of respect and also not having the guts to look her in the face at the moment. Slowly, he rose, awkwardly avoiding eye contact with her.
“Good morning, Your Grace,” he mumbled.
“It’s good that you’re here. I was hoping to talk to the both of you together soon.”
Both yours and Hyrule’s head tilted curiously?
“Oh?” you two said in unison.
Zelda let out another amused chuckle, but then her face turned serious.
“The scholars have uncovered new details about Ganon,” she said.
Hyrule’s face hardened at the mention of his name. You sat up straight, facing her.
“He’s dead. What details could possibly be relevant now?” you asked.
“Details on fully vanquishing his power from this land,” she stated. Zelda looked Link directly in the eyes. “You wouldn’t need to run anymore, Link.”
It took a minute to really process the words, but Hyrule swore his heart stopped when it did.
I don’t need to worry about endangering you.
I don’t need to dread having to leave every time I come to see you.
He was pulled out of his thoughts by you gently grabbing his hand. Your eyes were focused on your sister, cautious but hopeful.
“Are you sure about this, sister?”
“It’s a chance. A very good one perhaps, with only one way to find out.”
Hyrule would have been willing to take the chance even if it was slim, close to zero. Any chance to be with you without worry, no matter how small, was one he would take without hesitation.
“Tell me,” he all but demanded. “Tell me everything. I’ll do it.”
And so the three of you talked, and talked, and talked, and talked. And when there was no more to talk about, they visited the scholars and talked, and talked, and talked. Because Hyrule was going to gather every possible bit of information he could before he headed out. Because he was going to make this happen.
So when it came time to leave once more, Hyrule kissed you deeply. You sighed dreamily in his grasp, uncaring of how your sister was only a few feet away.
“This will be our last goodbye,” he whispered in your ear. “When I come back, it will all be over.”
“You promise?”
“I promise.”
And with a final kiss, Hyrule left. It was a new experience, leaving the castle and you behind eagerly instead of dragging his feet across the ground from another forced parting.
It excited him.
You didn’t see Hyrule for a long time after that. A few weeks came and went, and there were no messages from him. It wasn’t entirely unusual for his character, and the two of you had been separated for longer periods of time, so you still held onto hope.
And then a few months passed, and there had only been one sign from him. A small, porcelain butterfly that had been sent through the mail. It wasn’t much, but it reassured you that he was still alive and well.
Of course, it was easy to tell that Ganon had not been resurrected. No one would be soon forgetting the fear and darkness that used to pierce the air no matter how sunny it was. Ganon’s reign, although brief, had left a deep scar on the land and its people.
You walked the palace gardens everyday, letting the sun soak into your skin. Your fingertips brushed the petals of flowers, some of which were planted after Link had told you about them. Your gaze shifted to a butterfly that flitted past your nose. You had requested for them to be added here after receiving Hyrule’s gift.
You closed your eyes and tilted your face to the sky, letting its warmth fully embrace you along with thoughts of his return.
So long as the sun shone freely and fear did not needlessly invade your senses, your Link was alive.
Another few months passed, and darkness still did not fall upon them. But there were no new messages from Link, and your heart slowly began to cry. You scolded yourself every time you caught those emotions in your chest.
Hyrule promised you. He promised to come back to you, and he would.
Zelda could only comfort you so much when the two of you were together. But in the evenings when you laid beneath the pillowy canopy of your bed, alone and crying, you wished he was here too.
Months turned into a year. You said otherwise to anyone who asked, even Zelda, but a part of you mourned. You hadn’t lost hope that he would return, but the time until then seemed to have become endless.
Still, you waited. You would wait until the end of time for him.
It had taken nearly a year and a half for Hyrule to finish his quest. He had double-checked everything, leaving nothing to doubt.
Ganon was gone. His followers were gone. The evil power that once lingered from his vile heart no longer lived.
He was free to live peacefully, to live with you.
He had never been as exhausted. Countless days of pushing himself past his limits and resting appropriately so that his body wouldn’t break.
By the gods, you had always been a thought in his mind, even before this. But now? Memories of you filled every fiber of his being. You remained his constant motivation and hope. The one he fought for, the one he’d die for, the one he was going to live for.
After he had dealt the final blow and solved the last puzzle, Hyrule had decided he needed the next two days doing nothing but rest. The exhaustion had caught up to him, and he knew that he would need to rest if he wanted to return as soon as possible.
The nearest village thankfully had an available room in its inn, and he had spent a good portion of what few rupees he had left from his travels on it. And even better, he had found the next morning that there were both green and red potions available.
He spent what was left in his wallet on them without any regrets, cut down his needed rest days from two to one with their help, and set out for you.
Hyrule ran.
And it wasn’t out of fear, it wasn’t because he was being chased by monsters, it wasn’t to save someone from dying, no.
He was running as fast as he could, because for the first time in his life, Hyrule felt like he was truly going home. Going home to you.
The grin on his face did not leave the entire way back.
It took a day and a half to reach the palace, arriving in the afternoon. The soldiers had recognized him and opened the gate upon his approach. Hyrule jogged past them. He couldn’t bring himself to slow down to a walk, but also couldn’t bring himself to run through the palace grounds like a lunatic.
His eyes caught a figure moving on one of the balconies above. He skidded to a stop.
You stared down at him with wide eyes, book falling from your grasp onto the table next to you. He grinned up at you, waving his arm.
‘I’m back!’ he mouthed.
A smile of disbelief on your face before you quickly disappeared from view, running inside to meet him. He wasted no time and ran inside. He knew how to get to the balcony you were on, he could meet you halfway.
I’m back! I’m finally home! We can be together now!
His legs hadn’t pushed as hard as they had now. Laughter was escaping him as he ran, turning left and right, not sparing a glance to the decorations he couldn’t help but stare at when he first came here.
You appeared at the end of the hallway, skidding feet messing up the red carpet that ran down the center of the floor. Both of you ran at full speed, crashing into each other with open arms. You laughed a sob, and he buried his face into the crook of your neck, inhaling your scent.
“You’re back!”
He squeezed you tight before pulling away just the slightest to look you in the face. His hand came up to cradle your face, and you leaned into his touch, tears glistening in your eyes.
“I’m back,” he said through his smile.
You laughed and kissed his palm. He brought your face to his and kissed you properly, using the hand on the small of your back to pull you impossibly closer.
You pulled apart and he gazed into your eyes again. Bless the gods, he couldn’t believe this was all real. He picked you up and twirled you around, kissing you again. He couldn’t get enough of your lips, not when he was feeling like your lives together were about to get started.
The two of you eventually ended up moving to your bedchambers, hardly separating along the way. You curled into him more, raking your fingers through his hair, detangling the knots you found.
“We should probably tell your sister I’ve returned,” he muttered into your hair.
“Later,” you said.
Both of you were content to enjoy the moment for a lot longer. He rubbed your back slowly, gently scratching it.
Hyrule felt like he was home.
And he could see now, the truth was that it had always been here. But now he could fully enjoy it. There was nothing to drive him out of his home, from your side, anymore.
His mind traveled to the trinkets in his magic bag. There were a few he needed to give you, and one to give later. Another smile crept onto his face at the thought.
Hyrule wanted to ask Zelda for her permission first before giving the ring to you.
Cuddles are a must, along with some water and a sugary treat! Depending on where you are, his top priority is letting you rest and keeping you safe. So if available, he will carry you to the bath or a river so you can get cleaned up but will probably stand guard rather than join you so he knows you are safe.
B= Body Part
Mouth. He is literally obsessed with your lips cause he is an absolute SUCKER for lip gloss. You basically can't wear it cause he will kiss it right off. Hylia forbid it's flavored! It only gets worse if you just ate something sweet/sugary
(Self promotes this fic cause it's based off this exact idea– lollipop)
C= Cum
Unnaturally sweet. Like uncannily it straight up tastes like sugar. Likes smearing it on your mouth.
D= Dirty Secret
Has gotten most if not all of his sex education from drunkers at pubs and prostitutes. It's actually all pretty solid advice too and boy would he make those random people proud for how he incorporates it all
E= Experience
Oh the ongoing struggle of “Is Hyrule or virgin or an absolute whore?” I go back and forth on this all the time and honestly…I mean that man has 2 princesses, he definitely has gotten a lot more action than most of the chain if I'm being honest and is not afraid of sharing (if ya know what I mean ;) )
F= Favorite Position
You on your knees. Probably the one to like receiving oral the most. Mostly because of how obsessed he is with your mouth. He will watch you use it for as long as you let him, it until his mind turns to mush. Whichever one happens first.
G= Goofy
Not as bad as Wild, but definitely very goofy. He doesn't have any stigmas around sex so it's pretty casual most of the time. Cracks jokes and teases you throughout here and there, especially in the beginning, but tries not to ruin the mood. Is not always very successful unfortunately
H= Hair (Grooming headcanons)
You had to have a bit of an intervention at the beginning of your relationship. Nowadays it's still very bushy but it's clean and maintained and that's all you can ask for.
I= Intimacy
He is such a softie!! Hyrule ADORES you and will show you how much he adores you every chance he get.
J= Jack Off
I get the feeling he doesn't. Likely due to just always being on the road/being chased by monsters, but also just doesn't really feel the need to most of the time.
K= Kink
Primal play. He is constantly being chased by enemies. This man would go feral given the opportunity to be the one chasing for once.
ALSO
Praise. OMG PLEASE tell him what a good boy he is. Make him squirm and blush while you tell him how good of a hero he is and how he does such a good job at loving you.
L= Location
So long as he has deemed the area safe, it's fair game. He can, will, and has done it in multiple caves (his ultimate preferred spot), rivers and even out in the open in the middle of the forest. He will triple check it's safe beforehand and if anything seems off he will immediately stop and get you somewhere safe.
M= Motivation
Seeing you relaxed, being domestic does it every time for him. It means he's doing a good job at protecting you. It's basically the best nonverbal praise he can get and it turns him on instantly.
N= No (Something they wouldn’t do)
Nothing that could cut him, (even on accident if he's feeling really anxious.) Anything bondage related also makes him very anxious so although it's not a hard no, he just has to have a lot of time to mentally/maybe physically prepare for it
O= Oral
Straight up melts when you give him head. Body turns into straight putty and he will do whatever you want so long as you just don't stop. The other way around? He literally gets drunk off of you. Your sweet taste being his favorite sugar high he never wants to come down from. Getting him to stop is near impossible
P= Pace
On the faster side. Mostly cause he's always afraid monsters/villains are gonna show up. But he draws out foreplay like no one's business being a tease and working you up before hand.
Q= Quickie
THE master of quickies. It just makes sense
R= Risk
Okay so you would think if he's willing to fuck you dumb in the middle of forest that he'd be all for taking risks right? Wrong! Safety is non negotiable. That being said, if it's just being caught by another Hylian? This man simply doesn't care. He could be balls deep in you, in some pub closet and someone would walk in and Hyrule wouldn't bat an eye. Unless it's an enemy, it doesn't bother him so in his mind, there is no “risk”, just safe vs unsafe.
S= Stamina
Forever. There is no end. Especially if he maybe had a bit too much sugar that day or the more fae part of him is going through a rut? Your lungs are gonna need a few days to recover.
T= Toys
Intimidated for sure. It takes a long time for him to warm up to the idea, longer for him to figure out how to actually use it, but then will use it against you in the best ways.
U= Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Definitely a bit mischievous. He loves to tease you. Loves to get you worked up in the slyest ways and quickly play innocent when you catch on. He never takes it very far but ohhhh he is such a little shit and will do it for hours
V= Volume
Very quiet. Anything louder than his breathing or a whine is gonna be muffled by his hand, a pillow, or preferably your body. When he does speak, it's always in a whisper/hushed tones. Encourage him to be louder, that you want to hear what he wants and all those cute moans you know he's been holding back from you. It won't ever be yelling or screaming but even getting him at a regular level will feel like the biggest win.
W= Wild Card (A random headcanon for the character)
Because of the fae part of hi., magic reacts to his emotions. So his magic will start to go a bit haywire when he's turned on. Goes ballistic when he's in a rut
X= X-ray
Around average, probably about 5-5.5 inches. However, that thunder spell of his comes in handy when you need a little push to tip you over the edge.
Y= Yearning (How high is their sex drive)
Fairly average for the most part. However, definitely has some sort of fairy equivalent of a rut, which are very obvious when they happen because he will be glued to your side for days. I wouldn't even bother getting dressed those days. There will be zero clothes and Hyrule will refuse to not at least have a finger on you at all times
Z= Zzz
In general I headcannon him to be an extremely light sleeper, so especially depending on where you are, he will have a hard time falling asleep. Only really knocks out if you're at home, the castle, or a very protected cave. Otherwise he's content to just hold you close and let you rest on top of him for however long you need.
I was talking with @cloudninetonine / @shoobirino about their lovely fic yesterday, and I folded again LMAO. When I tell you I wanted to draw parts of this scene for a while now! I'm gonna take my time rereading it in full, but I wanted to get this scene off my chest.
P.S: The writing literally is so good in this scene, like so much tension! Go read it please if you're into x readers.
(rubbing my little hands together like an evil fly) my friend….. you know i have to ask for “leaving for their loved ones safety” with hyrule from the hurt/comfort bingo. thank you sm your brain is beautiful i love your writing
!! I love Rulie! Absolutely!
This is written with romance in mind
I'm coming home
"If you walk out that door right now, don't bother coming back," your words from that day echo in Hyrule mind at least once a day. The look of utter betrayal as he left breaks his heart still.
Your gentle care for him is still better than anything...
He ruined it all, though.
Turning from you as you tell him bot to come back if he leaves.
He ignored the pain in your face and voice.
He ran.
It's his fault...
The blizzard in his Hyrule is a freak weather pattern, and he leads the chain to the only place he thinks of.
Hyrule knows you.
You may never forgive him for leaving, but it keeps you safe.
You may never speak to him again, but you won't let his brothers freeze.
You are not cruel.
Hyrule's dosen’t hesitate to knock on your door as the blizzard rages around him and his brothers. You may not want to speak to him or even see him, but you won't doom him and his brothers. You aren't like that.
He wants to shrink away after he knocks, but he knows better. He is here, and he has to face you.
The door swings open and reveals your form, bundled in a blanket. "What - oh. Link. What are you doing here?"
"I don't have anywhere else to go," Hyrule says shakily, "Please, I won't speak, and I'll leave as soon as I can."
You sigh, stepping aside, "Get in here before you catch a cold. I was about to start stew."
Hyrule ushers his brothers into the home, making sure the door shuts.
"Get to the fire, I'll get blankets and towels," you say, already stopping the door up.
Hyrule watches as you flit down the hallway before he looks to where his brothers go to the hearth. The house is warmer.
It's cold, but it is above negative numbers.
Hyrule slinks to the fireplace, letting the warmth seep to him.
You return, a large stack of towels and blankets in your arms, your own blanket ties about your shoulders. "Take off your wet clothes. If you need to borrow some, I have extras."
There's some looks that pass.
You set down the stack on your coffee table. "I'll start stew, but take off the wet clothes."
Hyrule watches you retreat into the kitchen, taking his heart with you. Though he can't fool himself, his heart is yours and has been since well before he chose to be a coward over you.
He sheds his clothes like the others, toweling off.
"Link, if your group needs clothes, you know where to look," you call to them.
Hyrule wraps his towel around himself before going to your room to get some extra clothes.
Your love of oversized clothes comes in clutch, and he is able to procure clean tunics and bottoms for everyone even if they aren't the usual style or size. It's dry.
They bundle in blankets, too.
You come out and start boarding up the house and muttering some spell or other as you work.
You don't look at him even once.
"How do you know them?" Legend asks.
Hyrule turns and swallows. "We used to be close."
"Used to be?" Wind frowns.
"Alright, I can't make it feel like summer, but no one should die," you say as you finish your work and come back from the hallway.
"Thank you," Time says.
"It's nothing," you wave off easily.
Hyrule hates how easily you wave it off. He hates how willing to ignore your efforts and actions you are.
He knows it isn't his place anymore, and maybe it never was, but he wants you to recognize your goodness.
Hyrule watches as you go back to the kitchen.
It isn't his place, but he wants so badly to go make it better.
Your humming floats from the kitchen.
...
Hyrule needs to at least apologize.
He left you when you asked him not to -
He was wrong.
He knows that now.
Hyrule pulls on a set of fry clothes before he pads to the kitchen slowly.
All he can hope for is your understanding.
He enters the kitchen to find you working on some stew.
"I owe you an apology," he manages.
You don't turn.
You sigh, "Link..."
"I'm sorry, (Y/n). I - I want to keep everyone safe. I want to keep you safe..." He sighs, trying to find his words.
You shake your head. Silent and weary.
"I love you, and you don't have to feel the same or take me back because of that! But... I love you, and when I left, it was to keep the Eyes of Ganon away from you."
You don't respond for a solid four beats of his cracking heart. You finally sigh slow and heavy. "I know."
"I'm sorry. I didn't want to hurt you. Really, I just -"
"I know," you say firmly as you turn to look at him. "I know. But that dosen’t change that it does hurt."
"I'm sorry."
"I forgive you, but I don't want to do this again."
"I... know."
"You don't," you sigh, stepping closer. You take steps until you are close enough to set a hand on his shoulder. "I can't do this because I'm still not over you."
"I-"
"You're just going to leave again. We both know it."
"Not- I don't want to be on this quest - I never wanted to leave..."
"Quest?"
"Quest."
"I'm sorry," you say. "You deserve better than another quest."
"All I want is... you," Hyrule manages with a weak laugh.
You sigh, glancing through the doorway to the group behind him. "Come back from this alive, and we'll talk. Hm?"
"I- really? You - don't hate me?"
"I've never hated you. But if you ever break my heart to protect me again, I get to burn all the sugar," you say without any real threat.
"I'll come back alive, I don't ever want to hurt you."

the candle provided little light but you had to keep it dim, lest the cursed boy see you.
with quick feet, clad in a well-worn green tunic, he darted into dark alleyways and long-forgotten nooks. his brown hair glimmered in the moonlight as he weaved through the silent, sleeping town. a boy so mysterious-yet so infamous-explored the quiet streets with gleaming green eyes.
every night, without fail, the boy would emerge from the woods and sneak into the town. and every night, without fail, you would climb the stairs to your attic and watch him from the window.
all alone, the boy would run. with his hands outstretched to catch the wind, he would run around the town without a care in the world. free as a bird, the boy would run until he was on his knees and panting. but though he was visibly exhausted, the smile never left his face.
some nights, you find yourself envious of the cursed boy. of his freedom. of his joy. but, this night was different. the winds roared voraciously as if spurred on by something magnificent.
weak when faced with the mighty winds, your curtains blew open and your candle blew out. struggling against the gales you reached out to shut the window yet the wind grew stronger. cloth ripples wildly, the windows seem to work against you and-
out of the corner of your eye, you see it. see him.
