Even some people who acknowledge lestat as abusive seem so enchanted by him and Louis' love for each other and I just do not get it at all. I see louis love for him even despite it all but that doesn't read to me as like "they're destined to be together" thats just what happens idk...like lesat was his first love and his maker thats always going to be apart of him obviously. I think my main problem is I do not like lestat. I find him so boring. I don't care about his childhood, or his feelings, or anything to do with him that doesn't enrich my reading of Louis. The fandom obsession accelerated my feelings certainly but even from the first few episodes I hated that man. I don't even have the instinct i have with armand where I think he's reprehensible and racist and abusive and spend time thinking about his patterns and justifications and ultimately enjoy him as a character. I dont care to think about lestat at all. I hope he kills himself truly. I don't want him to heal and turn nicer and get back together with louis I want him off my screen. I don't think an abuser loving their victim and thinking theyre doing right by them is very interesting or complex at all actually. Many do. And I don't find the concept of love to be so pure or rare that it must be coveted and maintained at all costs.
