you are lying beside leo on the mattress shoved into the corner of the room he shares with his brothers, while mikey’s asleep upside down on his bed, donnie had fallen asleep still wearing headphones, and in the other corner of the room, raphs snoring loudly enough to qualify as a natural disaster.

—i can’t believe this —leo sighs dramatically.

—what? —you look up from where your head is resting on his shoulder

—thats not snoring —he laughs and points at raphs side of the room—. its a personal attack —as if on cue, raph lets out another thunderous snore and you bury your face against leo’s chest to keep from laughing. leo immediately wraps his arms around you tighter—. there, better.

—you just trapped me.

—nah —he shakes his head slowly—. im protecting you.

—from what? —you laugh softly.

—the emotional damage.

you giggle and his expression softened instantly, and for a while neither of you speak anymore as there’s only this glow of donnies forgotten monitor cast fainting blue light across the room. meanwhile, leo absentmindedly traces circles on the back of your hand as his thumb moves slowly against your skin.

—if raphs snoring gets any louder, and the ceiling collapses…—he whispers.

—yeah? —you raise an eyebrow.

—i would shield you with my body.

—leo —you stare at him.

—what?

—youre such a dork.

—a dork? after my noble sacrifice? —he gasps like if you’d stabbed him.

—youre literally talking about something that hasn’t happened!

—but it could!

you laugh again, and leo smiles so hard his cheeks hurt as for a few seconds, he simply looks at you quietly. his expression grows softer and softer until he finally rested his forehead against yours.

—you know —he murmurs—. this is my favorite part of the day.

—the part where raph sounds like a dying lawnmower? —your heart skipped.

—no —he nudges his about against your nose—. the part where it’s just us —he whispers although the room is still full of his brothers and the snoring hasn’t stopped; mikey rolled off his bunk with a loud thud and somehow stayed asleep. but leo doesn’t even glance over, because right now hes looking at you like if you are the only person in this room, and to be honest, for him, right now, you are.
