i'm so excited for my yasashii tamagotchi to arrive... it's not in good condition right now but it should all be easy fixes. i'll spot clean the shell and then whiten it with <10% hydrogen peroxide. it'll probably need a couple rounds of it, but i don't care if it's not perfect or doesn't make it back to looking "mint" condition. it's so lovely that someone clearly loved and played with this tama a lot :,) it also seems like it was stored pretty well all things considered, i have seen much more extreme cases of yellowing than this.
there's also some pretty gnarly corrosion in the battery compartment but i'm hoping it didnt damage anything on the motherboard. i won't know until it arrives, but i got it for very cheap (comparatively speaking to normal yasashii prices of like $600+) and i have made peace w the fact that it's a very real possibility that it arrives and is damaged beyond my abilities to fix it. i do have friends who repair tamagotchis and i'm hopeful that someone may be able to do repairs that i can't if the condition is much worse than i'm anticipating.
best case scenario is the corrosion is surface level and needs to be cleaned. middle of the road is that it needs some resoldering + corrosion cleanup. worst case is that there is water damage or corrosion that has eaten away at the motherboard or broken pathways on it that are beyond my capability to fix. i basically think about this all day right now TwT just turning the possibilities over in my head. it's being shipped on Monday or Tuesday, and after that should only take ~7-10 days to arrive... hoping for the best o/\
my last note is that there are good things to say about it, like the rest of the shell and screen are in really good condition despite being dirty. the designs aren't scratched or damaged in any way, the stand works, the buttons look good, and the screen doesn't appear to have any deep scratches beyond surface scuffs which i can probably polish out.
