I friggin' love Pull In Emergency, but then again, I was almost pre-determined to love them. 

I love '90s indie rock, I love yowling-to-the-heavens Brit-rock (re: Los Campesinos!, Johnny Foreigner) and I love a fierce frontwoman. Pull In Emergency combines these three things, with surprisingly good songwriting (they're teens, so, it's a little bit much at times) and simply brilliant, infectious instrumentation. 

These kids -- who were, as far as I can tell, in their last year of high school currently -- make some great late-night pining music. These precocious youngsters love them some late-'80s, early-'90s indie rock too, as if the riffs didn't betray their influences. I love the little solo work on "Everything's Gonna Change" (and it sounds even better on their album!)

Despite their age, they sound like they've been playing together forever. Maybe they're precocious, maybe they're just older than their years indicate, but whatever the reason: they're really fucking good. And while I have yet to find their self-titled LP on vinyl, I do hope that they continue making music because Pull In Emergency is a great first taste of a band that could continue to make utterly brilliant music. 

That is, if they pass their finals.
