Why is stuffing yourself in a room full of drunk people the social norm for new year's eve? Why isn't it something like going to bed early with fluffy blankets and cute night lights?

I need to find some place to vent that people won’t get annoyed at me...
So I went to a party tonight. Not my favorite experience. Because I'm not flirty or sociable with people who only know me for my photography and don't expect that there is a person behind the camera. And I didn't have any really close friends there except for one girl, but I could tell this guy she likes really wanted to hang out with her so I was trying not to third wheel, so I literally just tread water alone when she went with him to go get a Snapple. To me, that is anxiety: treading water in the deep end, alone, waiting for your friend to come back from grabbing a Snapple.
