I finally caved and changed the title of this series.
Roommates era buddie right after Eddie and Chris together decide to move back to LA. Because that's what should have happened. Getting together ❤️ mature but veers into a touch explicit. They don't have sex but uh... yeah.

"Yes, Buck, you are smart but like. You don't know everything."
Or at least - Buck was pretty sure that's what Eddie said?
He could admit. This maybe got a little out of hand.
At least it wasn't at bachelor party levels.
Man. That party.
"Hey, do you remember Chim's bachelor party?"
Oh. Wait. No, they weren't supposed to talk about that.
"We aren't supposed to talk about that."
That's what I just said, Eds!
"No, you didn't."
Wait.
Could Eddie read minds now?
"You're saying all this out loud, bud."
"Oh."
He should maybe stop drinking.
"I agree." Eddie smirked at him. He shouldn't do that. Not when Buck couldn't control what he was saying. What if he told him he was hot out loud?
Maybe he should beat himself to it.
"You're really hot!"
Nailed it.
"Thanks. You are too." Eddie's smirk grew into a shy grin. His cheeks were rosy. His eyes were glittering.
"You're really beautiful."
Eddie had nothing to say to that, just took another sip of his beer with that same happy smile.
Or -
Maybe he hadn't said that out loud.
Eddie blinked, pulling the bottle away from his lips. Buck was transfixed by how wet they looked. How inviting. Especially when they moved. Every once in a while, Eddie's tongue peeked out while he was talking.
Buck was transfixed by that too.
Oh wait. He's talking.
Buck snapped his eyes up to meet Eddie's.
That was a mistake.
His eyes were bright with laughter, dancing under the dim lights of the bar.
Shit. How were they supposed to get home?
"We're calling an Uber, remember?"
Oh. Right. The gift card.
"The gift card Maddie gave me?"
"Yes, Eds, I know that gift card."
"Yes, Buck, what a weird way to say it."
Buck didn't get it. Had he said something weird?
"Buck. We're very... very."
Buck nodded. Yeah. They sure were.
"Ready to go home?"
"Probably." Eddie gasped. "Wait, no! You still gotta tell me a fact!"
Buck blinked at Eddie. "What?"
"You know, a fact! You haven't told me one today!"
Right. Right that.
Eddie flopped down dramatically on the table, pouting at Buck. "How else am I ever gonna beat you at Jeopardy?"
Buck laughed which turned Eddie's pout into a glare. "You're adorable. You'll never beat me, Eds. I know everything." He waved his hands in front of him, wiggling his fingers.
Whoa. Deja vu.
Or -
No. That was the conversation they were having at... some point tonight.
...It did take place tonight, right?
Eddie scoffed, straightening up a bit. "You know a lot, Buck but like. You don't know everything."
No it was definitely tonight.
Buck gulped down his water, looking to avoid a hangover.
This was a mistake.
Why did Maddie have to give Eddie the gift card?
"Because it was her welcome home gift? Same as you said taking me out tonight was part of yours."
Right. His 1 week plan.
Eddie did not know the celebrations went past tonight.
But maybe he wouldn't ever know.
They were not supposed to go this hard on the first night.
Depending on hangovers, he might have to cancel the trip to Santa Monica tomorrow. Chris would be disappointed but maybe he'd settle for the zoo or aquarium? Something without loud rides and hopefully not as many screaming children and -
"You are zoning out so hard." Eddie laughed.
"Right!" Buck snapped his fingers, startling Eddie a bit. That made him feel bad. He laid a hand over his, squeezing in apology. "You wanted a fact."
"What? No, we were talking about gift cards."
"We were?"
"Weren't we?"
They blinked at each other before taking bigger drinks of their water.
"Okay. Fact. What was the Jeopardy! Clue about this morning?"
"Morocco."
"Right. Okay." What would be a - oh! "Morocco is home to a National Historical Landmark. It's one of the few outside of the U.S."
"Random." Eddie gave Buck a slow blink.
"Not really. The US has been friends with Morocco for almost 250 years. They were the first country to recognize America as an independent country."
Wait a second.
"I just gave you three facts, Eddie! That's cheating!"
"How? For who?"
Both excellent questions. Buck would have to figure it out in the morning.
"Okay, fact given. Did you order the Uber?"
"No, but I already closed out the tab. Want to head outside?"
Buck nodded. Fresh air sounded so nice right now.
Refreshing.
Ha. Re-freshing. Ref-reshing. Re -
"Why are you just repeating the word refreshing to yourself?"
"Isn't it weird?"
Buck had nothing further to add.
He stood up, wobbling slightly.
Okay. He could do this.
He fumbled out his wallet, throwing the tip on the table.
He loved when they put the tip suggestions on the receipts.
He pulled Eddie up from his seat and together, they stumbled out of the bar.
The cold air hit them like a slap to the face.
Eddie shrugged deeper into his jacket. "Well, if that doesn't sober us up."
Yeah. Buck did feel a little more clear-headed.
Still drunk, obviously.
But not as -
"Much happening." Eddie tapped his head.
See? That's how Buck knew he was more sober.
Instead of jumping to Eddie reading minds, he realized Eddie was just saying what Buck was thinking, out loud. Doing their 'mind-meld thing' as Chimney liked to call it.
Progress.
"Uber should be here in 10." Eddie sighed, leaning against the wall.
Buck joined him, standing so close, their shoulders brushed. Eddie was a solid line of warmth next to him. As another cold breeze flew by, sending them further into their jackets, Buck turned more towards Eddie.
"I think I've gotten weaker to temperature since moving here. I've been in snow! How is this getting to me?"
"There's something to being spoiled by the weather in LA." Eddie lifted his arm, fitting it around Buck's shoulders to pull him in closer.
And -
Okay.
It wasn't like they hadn't ever been this close before. But since living with Eddie, Buck had admitted some... things to himself. Things that he might have denied before but were now getting too big to deny.
Who knew spending every waking moment together would only make it harder for Buck to push his feelings down?
He certainly didn't.
So.
This had been happening a lot more.
The physical contact.
Buck started it. Initiating more hugs between them. At first, it wasn't a conscious thing but even after it was -
Eddie's hugs were really nice. He couldn't stop if he wanted to.
He couldn't figure out why Eddie kept allowing it.
But he was certainly not complaining.
"Hey, Buck?"
Buck lifted his head, only to find Eddie already staring back at him. Eyes intense.
Eyes... closer?
Lips against his?
What the fuck?
Eddie pulled back, leaning against the wall again. Casually like he didn't just -
What the fuck?
Buck stood there. Shocked. Stunned. Other words for stunned. Between the alcohol and now -
And now.
Buck pressed Eddie against the wall, hands on his hips, lips crashing down on his. Eddie moaned, probing his tongue at Buck's mouth. Buck opened for him with a groan as Eddie tugged at his hair.
It was at most only a few minutes of this but Buck felt lost in Eddie. They were both hard in their jeans, Buck could feel Eddie grinding against his thigh. He pushed it more firmly between Eddie's legs just to hear him whine.
It only got better when vibration was added.
Wait. Vibration?
They parted, both confused as they stared at each other before -
"Oh!" Eddie lifted his hips away from the wall, pushing his dick further up Buck's thigh. Eddie's own thigh slid more firmly along Buck's cock and -
Fuck.
Eddie hurriedly pulled out his phone. His chest was heaving, his hair was in disarray from Buck pulling at it. His cheeks were past rosy and looked bright red, even in the dim streetlights outside of the bar. His lips were swollen, wet and -
"He's coming."
Well, yeah, hopefully. But why was Eddie talking in the third person?
Oh.
Right, Uber driver.
Buck groaned, dropping his forehead down on Eddie's shoulder. "We're drunk."
"We're very drunk."
"We're very... very." Buck smirked, wondering if Eddie would even remember that conversation.
"How do you remember that but didn't remember us talking about gift cards?"
"When were we talking about gift cards?"
Eddie huffed in annoyance, pulling his leg back and pushing at Buck's shoulders.
Buck whined, hands glued to Eddie's waist. He refused to lift his head. He didn't want to see the regret in Eddie's face. Not yet.
He wanted to live in the fantasy a little longer.
"Come on, cariño. I need to fix myself up. I should probably fix both of us up. As a former Uber driver, I know how uncomfortable it can be when a handsy couple is hooking up in the backseat. Can't do that to a fellow Ubie."
Buck lifted his head, brows furrowed. He wanted to focus on the cariño part of Eddie's ramblings but -
"Ubie?"
"Okay, so it's not like an official term." Buck just stared at him. "I'm workshopping it, okay? Uber driver is just so long to say!"
"Sure, but. Ubie? Eddie. You can do better than that."
"Oh, yeah? Fine. Give me something better."
"Ubiver."
"Ubiver?"
"Yeah. Uber. Driver. Ubiver."
"No."
"You're just mad mine's better."
"It is not better! Ubie kind of sounds like ube! You love ube!"
"Sure but what does that have to do with Ubers and/or driving?"
Eddie paused, mouth slightly open. His cheeks had started to fade but were back to pink. He looked to the side, no longer meeting Buck's eyes.
And shrugged.
"Really? A shrug? That's your comeback?"
Eddie mumbled something.
"What?"
Eddie crossed his arms, huddled down a little more and fucking -
Mumbled again!
"Eds, I don't know what you're -"
"I was thinking of you when I was driving and I had the thought of what Uber drivers call themselves and - I don't know. It's stupid, okay?" Eddie looked so adorably ruffled, Buck felt himself just melt.
Eddie missed that, though as he fumbled with his phone. "Where is our stupid Ubiver?"
"I think you mean Ubie."
"Don't mock me." At least Eddie was looking at him again. Even if it was through an embarrassed glare. It softened as he took in Buck's - presumably - dopey grin.
"I would never." He stared, unable to look away at the transformation that was Eddie smiling. It was always like a sunrise, cresting over his features, brightening them up in happiness.
Damn. He should get drunk more often and write poetry.
As long as Eddie was his muse, of course.
"I can't wait to kiss you sober."
Buck smiled wider at that. "Love it when I call you my muse, huh?"
Eddie's brow furrowed in confusion. "When did you call me your muse?"
"Oh. I thought that was one of my outside thoughts."
Eddie looked more confused. "Outside thoughts?"
Buck shrugged. "Since we're naming things tonight. When I think I'm just thinking it but I'm saying it out loud instead. You know. Outside thoughts." He paused. "Wait. Am I taking that from somewhere?"
Another thing to figure out in the morning.
If he could remember it.
Truth be told, he couldn't remember the first thing he was supposed to figure out.
Oh well. It would come to him if it was important.
Another vibration from Eddie's pocket.
"He's pulling into the parking lot."
Buck pulled away from Eddie, both of them turning to indeed see a car pulling into the parking lot. It being a week night, the lot wasn't really full, allowing him to easily pull up in front of them.
The window rolled down. "Hey, you..." The man glanced down at his phone. "Eddie?"
"Yeah, Chad?"
Chad? Really?
Eddie elbowed him.
Okay. Outside thought.
He smiled at Chad's glare, shooting him finger guns.
Eddie sighed, opening the back door and shoving Buck inside.
He did not whine when Eddie opted to sit in the front seat.
"Stop whining, querido."
Okay. Maybe he did whine.
But man. If it got Eddie to bust out Spanish pet names? He'd whine as much as Eddie wanted.
"So, I like to set some boundaries with some of my drivees -"
Drivees?
"My name for Uber passengers."
"Why not just call them passengers?"
The car was quiet for a moment as Chad pulled out of the parking lot. "That... yeah." Chad cleared his throat. "Anyway, uh. I get you guys are drunk and... other... states. But if you could not involve me in your foreplay, I would -"
"Whoa, foreplay?"
Oh good. Eddie was just as shocked as Buck was.
What the fuck was Chad talking about?
"The whole whining, quieting, obeying thing?"
Buck gasped. Chad was right.
His cheeks flamed but he knew it was nowhere near as bad as -
Eddie?
Actually, no.
Eddie just looked confused. "What are you talking about? We do that literally all the time. The only thing different is the pet name." Eddie smiled back at Buck over his shoulder. Now his cheeks were pink. "That's a very recent development."
Buck was about to smile back but then it hit him.
Eddie was right.
They do that literally all the time.
Before tonight.
Long before tonight.
Practically ever since they met.
Buck groaned, slumping in his seat and covering his face with his hands. He peeked through his fingers to see Eddie still looking back at him, more lost than before.
Well. At least they were idiots together.
"Hey!"
Outside thoughts. They would be the death of him.
Buck sighed, sitting up again and flopping his arms down to his sides. His eyes darted to Chad or -
The back of Chad's head really.
Oh man. His haircut was bad in the back.
"What? It is?" Chad reached a hand behind him to feel. "What a rip! I payed $100 for this haircut!"
"$100 just for a haircut?"
Buck shook his head, leaning forward to rest a hand on Chad's shoulder. "Don't listen to him. He cuts his own hair."
Chad glanced quickly back and forth between Eddie and the road. "And you got it to look like that? How?"
Because Eddie was the best of all time. At everything.
Ever.
"He has a silver star, you know?"
"Buck." Eddie sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Right. Don't talk about the silver star. Just like the bachelor party.
"What bachelor party?"
Man. What a party.
"Buck."
He needed to shut his brain off and not talk anymore.
Starting now.
Starting... now.
Starting...
Now!
Starting -
"Oh, we're home."
"Oh, are we? I hadn't noticed." It was like he blinked and Eddie was at the door, pulling it open and helping Buck out. Laughing at him. That was rude.
"Don't listen to him, Buck. He didn't realize either."
Eddie glared at Chad as Buck closed the back door. "I thought we had a pact, Chad! Fellow Ubies!"
"Yeah, man, I don't know what that means."
"It means Uber drivers! Since that's so long to say!"
"Oh! Like Ubivers!"
Eddie refused to look over at Buck but that was fine. He knew he felt the smugness anyway.
If the huff of a breath and the turn on his heel was any indication. Buck grinned as Eddie stumbled his way towards the front door, fumbling to get the keys out.
Buck turned back to Chad. "Look, Eddie can be real weird about ratings. And I know this had to be weird for both us, so maybe we can just do a mutual fiver and call it a day?"
"Whatever, man. He tipped well, I don't care much beyond that."
Fair enough.
By the time Buck met Eddie at the front door, he had just gotten the key in the lock. "Moving a little slow tonight, huh?"
"You try doing this drunk."
"I have. While having someone pressed up behind me and kissing me."
"Ugh, don't remind me."
"Why? Jealous?"
"Among other things."
"Just remember the trick of -"
"Pulling down then pushing in. I know how to open my own door, Buck." He gestured to the door indeed opening before grabbing Buck's shoulders and turning them around so Buck's back was to the entrance. He pushed him inside, kicking the door shut behind them.
And then.
And then -
Being pressed against a wall. Kissed within an inch of his life. Questing fingers probing at his jeans, rucking up his shirt.
Drunk as hell.
It was like a weird overlay of deja vu.
For the second time tonight. Weird.
Buck pushed away from Eddie as thoughts of his hookup with Tommy flashed through his mind.
"Wait. Wait, Eds. I -"
Buck took a deep breath, trying to get his breathing back as he stared at Eddie. Eddie, who had a growing hickey on his neck.
Huh. When did that happen?
Buck reached out, running a finger over it.
Eddie shivered. "Why did you stop?"
Buck flicked his eyes up to meet Eddie's.
"I don't remember doing this." He pressed on the hickey, causing Eddie to shiver once more.
"You just did it 5 seconds ago."
"Yeah, but Eds. I don't remember."
Eddie got it.
He took a step back. Then another. They were slow, as if physically hard for Eddie to do.
"If we do this." Buck swallowed. "When we do this. I want to remember every single little thing about it. How you sounded. How you felt."
"I want that too, Buck."
"I want it to mean something. Because Eddie, I lo-"
Eddie rushed forward, kissing Buck -
Softly.
It was the softest kiss of the night. More of a distraction than anything else, lips barely brushing.
Buck couldn't be blamed for trying to chase after it.
He'd always chase after Eddie.
Eddie smiled indulgently, cupping the side of Buck's face. "Don't say it. Not yet, querido. Tomorrow. When we can both remember it."
Buck turned his head to press a kiss to Eddie's palm.
My first ever Hazbin Hotel fanart, and I decided to go hog wild and steal someone else's HC for Velvette's full demon form being based on a vampire bat. I expanded on it a little, and I'm quite proud of the results :)
Vel has very rarely had an instance where she needed to go full demon form, so she's not very experienced with how to use its full power. She can harness static electricity as an attack, plus she has those giant ass fangs, and she can technically fly but she doesn't exactly get a chance to practice much. Going full demon mode for her carries the potential risk of being overwhelmed with power and going a little... feral. If that happens it's okay, you just need to wait it out and she'll eventually run out of steam.
