Speaking of marriage, considering alliances with other tans, do you think Martín was ever engaged to another tan before? Or that maybe Antonio might have suggested it?

I knows it’s a running joke on the anime to take alliances as marriages, but I’ve been so alianated from the main fandom that I really just do whatever I want at this point and I don’t take alliances as marriages (sans the Anglo-Portuguese one ‘cause it’s ridicolous you guys). So my answer is no, Martín hasn’t been neither engaged or married.

But for the question’s sake I’ll go along with Hetalia’s logic, sure why not.

In that case Martín has been married a couple of time and I think he must have HATED it. Martín is a romantic at heart and I hc he has a very hard time separating his personal life from his tan life, so he’d take this “forced marriage” very personal and not as some diplomatic arrangement. He’d recent it, he doesn’t take it kindly to be forced to do things he doesnt want to or doesnt stand for. He be like that.

As for Antonio suggesting marriage, I'm assumig you mean during Martín's colony times, right? I dont think so, no. And I have two reasons for it:

Firstly, I dont think Antonio liked to draw attention to the fact this kids were tans and they had the ability to form alliances. It was a dangerous idea after all, he’d have been very easily outnumbered if they did. I like to hc Toño tried his best to keep his kids from any tan related responsabilities, he just let them live in this Nerverland-y world in which they got to be regular kids who just happen to be immortal and never age. Sure they had responsabilities of their own, but not very different from the ones any kid that time had. It was Antonio’s way to keep them kids forever, to keep them needing him. If he didnt throw politics at them then they would never grow this sense of autonomy and they'd forever stay with him. So no, no marriage or alliances talk with the children.

Second, I hc the Hispanics were *children* during their time under Antonio’s wing. Unlike Port who I do hc got to see Lulu grow and turn into a teen with the creation of the Brazilian Empire, I hc the Hispanics were young children during all of their time as Spanish colonies. They only stopped being children and turned into teens the moment they cut ties with Spain, which means Antonio had already lost any agency over them by the time they hit a somewhat more “appropiate” age to start thinking about relationships that way. They were not marriage material during their time under Antonio’s wing, you wouldn’t suggest a 10 year old to get married yk?
