America: was taken from her home and away from the things she loves and immediately exposed to this whole new capital of artificiality and constantly being on camera, knew the dangers of hunger and the caste system and what that did to her family, got her heartbroken (as a 17 year old girl btw) right before she was supposed to leave, the same boy who ended up at the castle like a month later—something that confused her even further, finally found some sort of solace in Maxon, calmly asking him for time (while still being pursued by Aspen), bombarded by rebel attacks with no other explanation except that ~this is what happens uwu~ and then finally learning about the horrors of the history of her country and setting out to fix it only to be ostracized and criticized by Maxon and his father for trying to reform it, watched him fall in love with another girl, watched him get angry at her for being shut in and not wanting to talk about her trauma, had to go home after baring herself to Maxon for one of the first times moments after saving his life, then told to stay because she saved his life but only on the condition that she could be tormented by the king and would also not have Maxon’s trust, was shot, still criticized by the king, still pursued by Aspen, had to decide a mans fate in front of cameras in a set up by the king (first of all, shes 17, second of all, wtf), MANIPULATED BY THE KING, feels like she can never truly know Maxon and is never properly listened to for gods sake
father died, exposed by her deadbeat brother to her entire family, caught with Aspen and then sent home with her only connection being letters that she couldn’t respond to, thought Maxon (the boy she was finally finally finally able to open up to) watched Celeste get shot in front of her, locked in a room with no way to defend herself after watching Maxon get shot and bleed out in front of her
