apropos of nothing here is a breakdown of the only four valid animes

1) FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Like regular anime except good. Supplies the classic tropes and aesthetics - colourful and distinctive character design, interesting abilities and situations, screaming - but does so in a relatively concise, actually coherent narrative.

2) Cowboy Bebop. An actual work of art, although for my money certain elements have aged poorly. Still stylish as all hell, though

3&4) Mob Psycho 100 and Beastars. The first is genuinely life-affirming, the second is absolutely A Metaphor For Something, and both boast superb animation and well-rounded characters. Both are also as yet unfinished, meaning there's ample room for them to run themselves into the ground, slowly or otherwise, and cut this list back down to two.

Every other anime, from One Punch Man to Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duel Monsters, may be entertaining but does not qualify as "good"
