grown ups need care too 🧺🤍🐻

You'd spent the afternoon watching cartoons and coloring and playing with your toys, so you were tuckered out by the time dinner came along. Woozi had volunteered to watch over you for the day, promising Seungcheol that yes he could multitask and do work at home simultaneously. And he did a wonderful job! Such a wonderful job, in fact, that you were both so sleepy from the day's events your samchon was just awake enough to make you macaroni for dinner and call it a night.
After gently cleaning the leftover dinner stickiness from your fingers and lips, he plops himself down on the couch, patting his lap invitingly and grabbing the remote. You flop down happily, eager to get cuddles after your long day of play. He queues up a comfort movie that he knows will get you to fall asleep in no time, and settles in.
Despite the fact that the movie is on for you, you feel the rise and fall of his chest even out before the opening credits are even complete, and you snuggle in, content to wait for Seungcheol to return from the studio while you sleep.
About halfway into the movie, you hear keys being turned in the lock, too sleepy to look at who is coming home, and you completely miss Seungcheol appearing in the doorway and slipping off his shoes.
Seungcheol heads into the living room to find you and Woozi sprawled on the couch. He smiles when he sees the two of you, pulling out his phone and taking a few quick pictures. One for blackmail, and one for himself. Always. Not often that he gets a two-for-one deal, after all.
Quietly, he pads sock-footed over to the couch to lean over you both. He soso softly rubs your shoulder to wake you, whispering as quietly as possible, "Hey, honeybear. Ready to go to bed?"
You open your eyes groggily, only faintly aware of Seungcheol removing Woozi's arms from around you, laying them to rest idle by his sides. “Dada?" you slur as he picks you up, securing an arm under your knees and hefting you against him. You let your head thonk against his shoulder.
"Yeah, Dada's here. Let's get you to bed, sleepy baby."
You remember all of three seconds of the trip to your bed, only regaining awareness when Seungcheol starts tucking you in, comfy pajamas already adorning your frame. You reach up for a hug, relaxing when warm arms envelope you. "G'night, Dada. 'ove you."
Seungcheol hums, giving you a final squeeze before releasing you, wiggling your covers up to your chin and making a show of tucking them under you. "I love you too, kiddo. Sweet dreams, ok?"
The only response he gets is a soft snore, so he chuckles and begins his tired shuffle back to the living room.
Seungcheol is truly amazed at the capability Woozi has to sleep in whatever position he wants, seemingly humanly possible or not. He re-enters the living room expecting his dongsaeng to be exactly where he left him, not sprawled sideways over the cushions with a leg resting on the coffee table a full foot away. He resists the urge to pull out the camera again, really too sleepy to judge, and fully aware Woozi has definitely captured him in more embarrassing positions.
He closes the distance to the couch, crouching down in order to haul Woozi’s newfound bulk-obsessed body into his arms. “This used to be, ugh— so much easier, Woozi-ah,” he grumbles, trying and failing to carry him in a dignified manner. He settles for securing an arm under his butt and plastering the younger to his chest, grunting as he makes his way to Woozi’s room. Curse that stupid gym.
He's is grateful for Woozi’s refusal to make his bed in the morning —no matter how much Joshua gripes about it— when he sees the covers of his bed already pulled back and strewn across the mattress. One less thing to do with his arms full of human. He lays his charge down carefully, the younger’s legs dangling off the edge of the bed. He pulls his much-too-stiff-to-sleep-in jeans off of his hips and tosses them over the concerningly high pile of clothes on the desk chair, deeming that a problem for Tomorrow Seungcheol™.
He situates Woozi’s legs onto the mattress, the movement jostling him a little and Seungcheol winces as his eyes flutter for a moment. He mumbles a string of incoherency, something along the lines of “mmpfhlpflmm,” and Seungcheol stares incredulously into his closed eyes, nodding along to the nonsense as if comprehension would dawn on him from doing so. He combs the hairsprayed bangs out of Woozi’s eyes, willing his breathing to even out again. It seems to do the trick, the producer snuggling down into his pillow, and Seungcheol quietly tiptoes to the doorframe.
Smiling softly at Woozi’s sleep slack face, finally devoid of any stress after two weeks of strict scheduling, Seungcheol pads back to your room to check on you before he goes to bed. From the sliver of light coming from the doorframe he can see two little eyes peering up at him. The two little eyes blink and suddenly hands are being outstretched into the darkness towards him, and he sighs, endeared, because now you've seen him and that means an obligatory second goodnight is in order. Not that he would ever mind.
He slips into the room, careful not to let too much light in so you can hold onto your sleepiness and hopefully drop back off once you've gotten your second round of night night hugs.
"Why are you still awake, honey? You were so sleepy just a little while ago.”
"Is Uji samchon okay, Dada?"
Seungcheols heart squeezes at your sweet concern, your lamb plushie squeezed close against your pajama top as you sit up fully in bed.
"Yes, baby, your samchon’s alright. He's just very sleepy. He's all cozy, though, it's okay."
"Dada tucked Uji in?" you ask. "Grown ups don't get tucked in, Dada. That's for babies.”
Seungcheol sits on the edge of your bed and tucks your plushie closer to you, the creak of the mattress reminding him that he really needs to get a new one before it becomes too squeaky for you to sleep in. He ignores it for now as he fusses over the bedding that's now crooked over your lap.
"Sometimes grown ups need to be taken care of too, baby. How was Uji gonna get in his bed otherwise, hmm?"
You pouted at him, thinking hard. You concluded that he was right. Your samchon didn't seem very....alive last time you saw him. Maybe your Dada was right, grown ups could use babying too!
"Hmm....Uji as'eep now?"
Seungcheol frowned at the seemingly random topic change, passing a hand through your hair. "Yes, baby, he's asleep.”
That seemed to be the answer you'd been hoping for, eyes lighting up with sudden energy and your lamb falling out of your arms onto the floor. The bed squeaked in protest as you bounced to your knees, jostling your caregiver who was grinning fondly, if not confusedly. "Can we go tuck samchon in?"
Seungcheol melted. Who cares if he literally just came from doing that exact thing, he'd do it again in a heartbeat.
"Of course we can, little love." He stood and held out a hand for you. "But be quiet, okay? We don't wanna wake him up."
You took his offered hand, picking up your plushie from where it had fallen next to the bed. You did a few excited hops before Seungcheol shushes you with a kiss to your bouncing temple and a tight, soothing hug.
You pad out the room and down the hallway into Woozi's room, where he’s now curled around a blanket, arms curled up and tucked close to him. You tiptoe into the room and up to his bed, leaning over to observe his sleeping expression. His face is lax, mouth slightly open, and he’s snoozing softly. He looks peaceful. You stare at him for a solid ten seconds before…
".........samchon snores, Dada."
Seungcheol has to hold in an amused snort at what was supposed to be a cute moment. "Only when he's really sleepy, baby. Now go ahead, say goodnight to Uji."
You observe only a moment more before leaning closer and pressing a kiss to his forehead. He doesn't stir, too tired to even register that there are people in the room.
Standing back up and turning to Seungcheol, you point at the sleeping figure behind you and command in a whisper, "Your turn, Dada."
Seungcheol, enamoured, listens, walking up to the bed and leaning down to press a soft kiss to the younger's head. Taking advantage of the fact that his dongsaeng is completely oblivious to all of this, he tucks the blanket all the way up to his chin, just like yours, whispering a "Goodnight, Woozi-ah. Sleep well," to his hair before returning to the doorway.
“Ready to go, bun? He's all tucked in now."
"Almost, Dada. One more thing," you whisper, tiptoeing back to his bed. You carefully lift your samchon's arm, tucking the lamb plush under it before laying it back down with a final pat of his hand. You whisper an equally careful, "Night night, Uji," before making your way back to Seungcheol, slipping your hand back into his and squeezing. "Uji gonna sleep good now that we tucked him in?"
Cheol was just putting away his phone camera, now full of a plushie bearing Woozi, and squeezes your hand in return. "So good, lovely. I'm sure he appreciates i-"
His sentence is cut off by a yawn, and you giggle at him. "Dada sleepy too!" He grins at you, quietly closing Woozi's door and lifting you onto his hip, walking back to your bedroom.
"Yes, baby. Dada is very sleepy. Which is why this little one is going to bed now," annunciating his statement with a poke to your side. You giggle again and nod, resting your chin on his shoulder. "I sleepy,” you agree.
You arrive at your bed soon enough, Seungcheol plopping you down so you bounce slightly when you land, making you laugh. You squirm back under the covers, grabbing two more plushies and scooting to the far end of the bed, patting next to you. Seungcheol holds the blankets up, tuck-in ready and puzzled.
"Why'd you scoot so far away, honey?"
"Had to make room for Dada! Gotta be tucked in, too!"
Oh, he's gonna melt. "Oh, I get tucked in too, love?"
"Mhm!" you exclaim, patting the bed again and beckoning him over. He crawls in next to you and slips under the covers, allowing you to not-so-gently guide (push, really) his head to the pillow.
"Gotta sleep, Dada! It's part of the tuck-in!"
"Alright, alright, I'm sleeping."
You make a face at him when his eyes remain open after his claim, and he quickly squeezes them shut. "I'm asleep!"
You (much more gently) press your bear plush into his arms before snuggling close, pulling the blankets up to cover the both of you. He holds you and the plushie in his arms, one arm around each of you. He squints a tentative eye open. "Am I tucked in now, honeybear?"
"Almost," you say, leaning up to kiss his cheek. Seungcheol beams, cheeks dimpled, and turns so he can fully hug you, squeezing you tight and pressing a kiss to your cheek in return. "Goodnight, sweet baby. Thank you for tucking us in. Gonna have sweet dreams now."
"Mhm, ni-" a yawn cracks your sentence. "Night night, Dada."
You’re both asleep within minutes, snuggled up oh-so close with the fuzzy covers and your plushies all around you to keep you safe and warm.
