Not many people on FB follow me on here, so no names, but rant time.
RIGHT NOW!!!! I am at the ER with my partner who is FREAKING THE FUCK OUT right now BECAUSE of how much this is going to cost him.
We came in yesterday morning because of a possible kidney stone. It is a kidney stone, first one he’s ever had. So obviously, not used to the pain. We were here for 7 hours yesterday. It was rough.
My partner has good insurance through his father, whose plan he is still on because of the ACA. His ER copay is only $150. So far, he’s paid $300, $150 for today, and $150 for yesterday when we came in to have him diagnosed.
What we don’t know is how much the complete bill will be until AFTER the stay. We don’t know what insurance will cover and what they won’t. We don’t know what his out of pocket will cost.
And I am PISSED right now because he is in extreme pain and is more worried about how much this is going to set him back as opposed to getting better.
We NEED universal, Medicare For All!
I don’t care if we have to pay for it through taxes! That’s what taxes are for! To better society! Build roads! Fund schools! Make the sick better!
If you want nice shit, you gotta pay for it, and you should be happy to do so BECAUSE WE ARE A PART OF A FUNCTIONING SOCIETY! If you want to live in the land of the civilized, start caring for other fucking people
